Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but no rain at present here in brackley .
Today I am planning on going via Buckingham on the buses for a change of scenery on the outward leg ,and see how HS2 is slowly changing the landscape.
Then maybe a Chinese meal take away wise.
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Saturday 1st October 2022
(55 Posts)Sound like a gentle but interesting day, Mick. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers to you and all who follow. I've just done my exciting meter readings! Does life get better than this?!!!
Good morning, all, from a fine Torbay.
Something to make you smile: yesterday, I took out of the freezer what I thought were three chipolatas. Evening came and I opened up the bag to find three rather woebegone carrots! Not really what I wanted with a jacket potato and baked beans! Luckily, I had bacon in the fridge so I substituted that and discovered it cooks well in the air fryer which I had already warmed.
Wonderful news from Chrissielou yesterday to gladden our hearts. Wishing you all a happy and healthy weekend. ?????
White ??? rabbits!
Good morning from a still dark E Kent. We had some rain overnight.
My friend arrived in time for lunch. She was very tired and emotional, swamped with calls from well wishers, etc. all went well, she went to bed as I did.
Disaster! During the night, she fell trying to get to the commode, called me. No response! I sleep upstairs and she down, behind closed doors for privacy. She spent the night on the floor. I have called and ambulance and they are coming whenever to pick her up. I could have managed to get her onto the much lowered hospital bed, but she didn’t want me to. We are now waiting…
Today is an empty. I think she’s got a friend coming. We’ll see what the day brings,
Hope all is well with everyone. Carpe diem. ?????
Good Morning from S Yorks.
Oh my, grandmattie what a to do! I do hope they come very soon and can be settled back in and her friend still come.
Enjoy your different day Mick and well Ashcombe carrots wouldn't really hack it.
Hugely relieved I don't have to do meter readings (smart meter and in a deal till April)
..but oh dear me...my mortgage still has 3.5 years to run and the current deal ends in 4 weeks - this will not be good news...
I've a flu jab at midday and maybe the gym or maybe some more attempts on Sorting and Discarding Stuff.
Greyduster did you find a little car yesterday?
Good morning Mick and everyone from a beautiful Menorcan morning.
grandMattie I was shocked to read your post. How upsetting for you and to your friend and I hope you aren’t waiting too long for the ambulance ?
Yesterday DH and I had a walk around Mahon and visited the Menorca Museum. We left Mum and Dad in their hotel waiting for the rain to stop as it was a little slippery underfoot.
We will go over as usual for our morning coffee together in the bay but Dad said he thinks he wants to enjoy the sun for their last two days and relax. DH and I are visiting some ruins and historical sites without them. We will all have dinner together tonight. I’ve loved seeing my Dad everyday and can see now just how much like his own father he is.
Have a good day everyone and virtual hugs and a hand hold to those who need one ??
I tend to read GM posts quite late in the day so don’t often post.
It was terrific news from Chrisselou and Blossoming yesterday. How nice to hear some good news for a change.
We are going to stay with eldest DD, SIL and GD overnight which was prearranged a couple of weeks ago. We will go out for an Indian at the fantastic one in her area - no good ones here. She has been working for a large I.T. company for a couple of years and found out yesterday her contract was not being renewed. So I will be worrying for her in these uncertain times.
Had dinner with DD2 on Thursday. I feel sorry for DGD just turned 4 and started school. She is very tired by the end of the week. She is such a little dot and a delicate flower. 17 month old is a bruiser and much bigger than she was at the same age and has a very powerful personality. He has taken to shoving her very hard so she falls back and he ruins all her games so she’s often in tears. Unlike her, he is having full on tantrums. We have him every Tuesday and he’s pretty good with us but much harder work.
Wishing everyone a good weekend. Thinking of those as always, with illness and worries. ?
Morning all from a damp and gloomy West Oxfordshire. It’s always nice to be home. Annoyingly my neck is still stiff and painful. I wrenched it on holiday while driving. Some of the corners were very tight and I simply twisted it while looking to see what was coming. If it still hurts on Monday I’ll have to contact the Health Centre. Daughter is coming this afternoon and staying until tomorrow afternoon. I’ll be making a deconstructed toad in the hole for dinner and I made her favourite caramel ice cream before we went on holiday. Have a good day everyone. Oh, white rabbits!
Good morning and white rabbits from a clear-skied Wiltshire, it looks damp underfoot.
I enjoyed my Zoom art tutorial yesterday, I hope to do more.
Apart from that it was a quiet day, I did more knitting while listening to podcasts and it poured down all afternoon so a lovely chilled out afternoon.
Off for dog walk shortly, wellies on!
Have a lovely day everyone x
Good morning from a damp Sefton. Rain overnight & more is forecast.?
Oh dear grandMattie How distressing for you & your friend. I do hope help comes soon.
Creaking this morning after dance exercise class followed by Pilates yesterday. However, best foot forward, as we are having a day out today with No 2 son & family. We are visiting a local bird reserve so ?it isn't too muddy underfoot & the rain stays away. Little GD will love puddle jumping though. Perhaps a bit of puddle jumping will iron out my creaks.
Have the best weekend. ((Hugs)) to those of you that need them.
Good morning all from a cloudy and wet Glasgow.
What a dreadful experience for you and your friend GM. I hope she is ok.
Thank you for all your good wishes and PMs yesterday. We had a lovely meal, served by one of my ex pupils. I was so delighted to hear she has just graduated from uni, she has had such a tragic life.
Much to DHs dismay, there were indeed people I knew. The bonus was that The Quiet Man didn't have to make polite conversation with me. There were others available to do that!
I was miffed that I had heard nothing from my children, then DD reminded me of the postal strike!
Then yesterday afternoon, DIL made a surprise visit with Dollie, who had brought red roses, my favourite. It made our day.
She informed us that she had got 10/10 for her spelling test and proceeded to spell every word in the test for us.
I was about to spell out a secret to DD, then realised that hooverlugs, would probably be able to work it out! Post it notes from now on. ?
DIL kept asking why I was so out breath, so to stop her worrying and speculating, I gave her a diluted version of what is going on, but asked her not to repeat it for now, until I see the cardiologist, who is conducting research on my condition.
Later, a beautiful bouquet arrived from DS2 and DIL. There was no card, so a mystery. I eventually found the soggy card, disintegrating among the flowers.
DS asked if I enjoyed the chocolates, but they were missing.?
An early start for me, I have a Zoom safeguarding conference to participate in. Thank goodness the cameras are off, I feel nauseous and lightheaded this morning and would rather stay in bed.
Now that's an idea, no-one would ever know! ?
Wishing you all the best of Saturdays!
Good morning everyone from Cambridge, yesterdays rain has cleared so hopefully the sun will be out later
Brilliant news yesterday from Chrissilou ?
How awful for your friend gMattie I hope the ambulance arrives soon and she’s not too uncomfortable
Not sure yet what todays plans are, the DGSs have a swimming lesson first thing and then I think we’re going into town. DD1,and Sil went out last night, I always like it when I feel useful and can look after the boys for them. Oh - two little boys have just arrived in my bedroom so I’d best get going!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning from a wet but sunny and chilly Oxfordshire.
Emptied the conservatory yesterday except for the sofas who knew they would be so heavy? So they are still in situ, hopefully our nephew will help us to move them later.
GM not a good start hopefully things will improve, have you both got mobile phones? Could you have them by your beds then your friend could call you if she has a problem?
Hope everyone has a good day,
oh! A pinch and a punch, almost forgot.
I was thinking GM about Alexa.
We have them all over the house, in case I become unwell.
We installed them, after I had my first heart attack, as DH didn't hear me calling for help.
They are great, saving me going unnecessarily up and downstairs. I just call DH, to switch on/off the oven etc.
It may be worth thinking about, they are very reasonably priced..
Good morning all and it’s a glorious start here at the Suffolk seaside. Last nights rain and gales were deafening with the sea crashing onto the beach. I love to watch it!
I always sleep longer up here as it’s so very quiet - only the seagulls to wake us up but they are very quiet at the moment.
Probably hunkering down after a wild night.
Saturday mornings here bring the 10k runners along the beach,
DS1 and 2 always join in when they are here. Great to see all their colourful sports apparel and there’s usually about 50 of them.
Dh will go to a footie match this afternoon and I will endeavour to read my ‘book club’ book. I’m way behind! I have two other books waiting. The trouble is, I go into the summer/autumn house to read and I always fall asleep! ??.
It’s just too peaceful listening to the sea ! The rhythm sends me right off! ?.
Poor you and your friend GM - not a good start! I hope help arrives soon and you can get into a good routine. I’m sure you will cope ?. If anyone can, you can!
Hoping you all have a ‘good’ day. ??
Good morning from sunny Seville.
Yesterday we visited the Cathedral and yes, Still learning the tomb of Columbus is awe inspiring. Apparently they are not sure if any of him is in there as the DNA just pointed to someone related to his mother.
We explored further and watched rehearsals for a police parade and part of a late night 7km run. The city centre was packed at 10pm with everyone from babies to old folk.
We slept late today, it's 9am here.
Love to all ? x
Good morning all from dreich South Lanarkshire. Glorious September has given way to wet October.
I was delighted to read your good news Blossoming, may you continue to keep well.
Mattie how awful for your friend, I hope the ambulance has arrived by now.
You could indeed take part in your zoom meeting from the comfort of your bed Marydoll. Yesterday DD worked from our house as hers is overrun with builders, she looked very professional from the waist up but I’m sure she wouldn’t have worn leggings and fluffy slippers to the office.
I couldn’t face going out yesterday as the weather was so bad now I’ll be forced to do a supermarket shop on a Saturday, my own fault.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning all from sunny Harrogate. Looks like the rain has recently stopped.
That’s not a good start GrandMattie. Hope you don’t have to wait too long for help. Oopsadaisy has a good idea, though, if you both have mobile phones.
Sounds like you had a great day yesterday marydoll
Yesterday the bathroom designer failed to turn up and is coming on Monday instead. The first designer we saw, we liked her design but the next one might be better!
Today I think our Polish handyman is doing some more to get the kitchen in order.
Have the best day possible folks
Morning all
It’s a beautiful blue sky crisp autumn morning here in S E Essex ???
Had my 4th Covid jab yesterday (I have missed had 4 Pfizer’s which the pharmacist commented on as it’s unusual apparently). My arm is a bit sore, but so far so good.
Waitrose delivery first thing then I have a manicure and pedicure. Might start on the ironing, my bits are neatly all linen which I love, but detest ironing .
Oh grandMattie what a frightening start for your friend, I agree with Marydoll Alexa would be a help (Alexa dots are cheaper)
((( hugs))) for those in need. Enjoy this first day of October ??♀️
Good morning, Michael, and all GNs from a sunny but chilly South Yorkshire. We had heavy rain yesterday afternoon so no chance to get out, but I made a batch of bacon and lentil soup in the slow cooker. DD is coming over for the day and has decided to stay the night as she doesn’t like driving in the dark, and her menfolk are not due home until late evening.
No Wyllow I haven’t decided on a car yet, but there are a couple of possibles. Trouble is I can’t test drive anything until the DVLA send my new licence so at this stage it’s still looking. We are going out again next week for a further look.
GM I hope your friend is ok and you didn’t have to wait too long for an ambulance!?
Have a good day folks
Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset.
Sorted some of the stressors yesterday, decided if I ditched the computer and went back to a quill pen life would be a lot easier
A bit more to do this morning then we’re trundling off to a city as Mr C has a postponed echocardiogram this evening. Once we’ve secured a parking space I’ll relax, it’s incredibly difficult there, hospital has no car park. Not sure how that was ever a good idea.
Goodness grandmattie, hope all goes well today. Not the beginning either of you had hoped for I’m sure. Phones or Alexa would certainly work if you’d both feel comfortable with them. I have nostalgic Cambridge envy brook, hope the rain stays away. You could indeed stay in bed mary, definitely redline somewhere, why not? Oh dear ash, how many times has something similar happened here. Makes for interesting meals,
Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
We have a mixture of Alexas, including dots. They are very cheap at the momrnt.
Alexa
Like my Oxfordshire GNs have already said, it's a wet but now blue sky and sunny start to the weekend.
We had a log fire last night, no heating on yet though. It was so cosy and warm, sitting with our Friday night pizza, dog at our feet in front of a roaring fire. I do think being through such hard times makes you appreciate the small pleasures in life.
So sorry to hear your update today grandMattie I do hope your friend isn't injured as a result of her fall.
I hope everyone finds some small pleasures in their day. We are off for a walk along the Ridgeway.
Good morning all from a lovely sunny Black country, after yesterday's nonstop rain it is much appreciated.
What a start for your friend grandMattie I do hope you don't wait to long for some assistance.
NannyJan were those photos yesterday from Lagos?
Over to Redditch this evening to our friends.
Well usual full English calling so will catch up with everybody's news later.
Enjoy your Saturday and may you all find some ?.
You can also use Alexa from your mobile and maybe get her to set off an alarm.
