Good Morning Everyone,
Dark as usual , but remains dry here in brackley .
Doing my usual bus routine to Bicester , where I meet up on occasions with people who I used to work with .
Also in the town the annual fair has returned , due to it being taken down when originally on due to the Queens death .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10°, cloudy and very windy. My thoughts are with those who have ill children, in particular Baggs. I think we can put up with ill health for ourselves rather than for our children. Shazza it's a shame that your holiday is over as it looks a lovely island. BlueBalou I'm another one interested in the ball bearing mystery!
Yesterday was a reasonable day. Mum was ok which is not always the case however my brother was unpleasant. They seem to take it in turns! I had a nice visit to my friend afterwards which eased my irritation.
Today I have a friend visiting me early so I'll have to get moving. Apart from that, a quiet day ahead. Have a good day all.

Morning Mick, morning All. Sky is clearing over our corner of Somerset. Looks draughty out there.

Five bags to a charity shop yesterday, hooray. Fancy a wander out today, Mr C is pondering on a destination. Not too far as I’m on night three of little sleep.

Hope the mystery of the ball bearings is solved bluebalou. A change of indoor scene will be good I’m sure kitty, be careful on the stairs. Safe journey home shazza, hope the caravan pick up goes smoothly nannyjan, you’ve a long trip ahead. Not necessarily a bad thing to do a test drive in the rain greyd, good to know how a car copes. Good luck with the search.

Thinking of everyone finding life hard going. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Awaiting the delivery of concrete for the drive this morning so will be housebound for a while. The concreting is being done in two pours so another next week - all very exciting and long awaited. The finished product should look like random stone but without the inevitability of weeding, so fingers crossed.

Meanwhile it is fine but chilly so washing out shortly.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a beautifully sunny start to the day. Himself will be setting off on their homeward journey in an hour, straight after they’ve had a hearty breakfast. I’ve missed him.

I’m going to make a pork stew in the slow cooker as obviously I won’t know what time he will be in. I’d have liked to go out for a curry myself and sit to enjoy his company and hear all his news but, as he’s eaten out the last four nights eating delicious Scottish fayre, he might as well come back down to my efforts with a bump.
?

I hope baubles return to work went well yesterday. Quite an achievement after all she’s been through. Trust you’re home Pittcity I’ve really enjoyed the photos and it’s put me in mind to visit Seville - maybe next year. Stay sensible kitty if you get bored it means you’re getting better remember. Enjoy Thursday all who can. x

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, it's 11°

A day in for me today, I've had a very busy week and am feeling very washed out.

Yesterday's visit to the hairdresser was interesting as usual. I always go on a Wednesday, cheaper and the owner isn't in, it's much more relaxed. Lots of intrigue surrounding the owner and a fallout with a long standing customer, with the customers adding their tuppence worth! Of course I don't gossip. ?
We had such a laugh, when one of the customers, who is called Porn star Shazza said she needed the loo, but the salon had run out of loo rolls. My offer of running to my car, complete with wet hair, to get a roll of kitchen roll from the boot ( ^Aye ready^) caused much hilarity.
I have gone really short to make my hair more manageable, due to my painful wrists.
I'm concerned it won't suit my new glasses!!!?

Last night I performed the miracle of the loaves and fishes. DS1 was coming for dinner and to watch the football. DIL ran him down along with the bold Dollie. DH had informed me that he would down after six.
At 4,45 pm, I was lying down, dozing under a throw, in the conservatory, (feeling a bit iffy), when a whirlwind threw herself at me and snuggled in beside me. Unexpected, pure and unadulterated joy.
DIL was about to leave with Dollie, when DS2 unexpectedly appeared. He accepted the offer of dinner, while I frantically tried to work out how to stretch it!
Sweet and sour chicken balls became sweet and sour chicken balls, supplemented by prawn balls!
I looked at my three men, with a tear in my eye. Things are still a bit strained between my two boys, yet here they were, eating together, with me frantically trying to keep the conversation going.
I sent a photo, to DD, who was mad, that she had been left out! ?

I have some admin to do today and come up with some strategies to support a parish group, who need help managing a children's group. Too many children, too much noise. I have declined the invitation to join them, but am willing to offer advice.

Safe journey to the travellers and Greyduster, I hope you get on ok with the test drive.
Hoping all went well yesterday, Baubles.
Mick be careful, why jeopardise your appointments? Is it worth it?

Have a good day folks!

Taichinan Thu 06-Oct-22 08:22:27

Good morning all. It's bonny and bright on the Angus coast with a goodly little breeze coming out of the west - perfect drying day. Went to get the washing out of the machine only to discover that although I'd set the delay button and timer when I loaded it last night, I'd forgotten to press the start button. Grrrr! I've put it on for a short wash so I should manage to hang it out before I leave for tai chi, so not the end of the world. And nothing like the crisis DD gas just faced!
Dancing GD became Driving Dancing GD yesterday (--I probably mentioned that very casually yesterday--) but I discovered later what a kerfuffle there had been before the test. On Monday morning she found out that not only could she not have her lesson with her instructor before the test, but she couldn't use his car for the test either! You can imagine, can't you! DD got moving and got the little Fiat that she had bought for both her girls' driving practice readied for the test (hers is an automatic) - tires, fuel, a second rearview mirror and cleaned (!!) in her lunch hours, and then up at the crack of dawn yesterday for DGD to have a practice on the test route in Dundee before the test, which was at 8.20am! (They live an hour away.) All that adrenalin must have done the trick although DD was sure it was going to throw her. So well done to DD as well! Isn't it amazing what you can do when you have to! So proud of her.
Now off I must dash to get everything set up .have a good day everyone x

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE.
Yesterday was more like April, sunshine and showers but did manage a walk in a brief dry spell.
I have found ball bearings on my bedroom floor and they came from a set of chest of drawers. The metal runners at either side of the drawers contain these little balls to facilitate smooth operation.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a bright, sunny E Kent.
I got lost in my book, forgot the time, then had to sort my friend out, breakfast, newspaper, etc.
Yesterday was quiet, my lodger was very, very tired and needed a lot of rest. She had written to her GP asking for help in various areas and a very nice lady doctor called and promised she’d look into everything that had been asked.
Today is very busy for her - a priest with communion while I’m at Spanish, a London friend for lunch and the soil for a PoA.
I’ve got DD this evening coming for the weekend, she is presiding over the burial of her dad’s ashes on Saturday. The rest of the family is coming tomorrow night. It will be interesting…
Got to rush - commode duties ?‍?
Carpe diem. ?????

GrannyGravy13 Thu 06-Oct-22 08:53:11

Morning all

Blue sky here in S E Essex, forecast is dry and windy.
Not sure what I am up to today, nothing planned. I might drive up to Lakeside just to have a mooch and let someone else make me a coffee whilst I people watch.

Thinking of Baggs and her DD, sending (((hugs))) to all in need.

Pondering little ball bearings origins?

Have your best day folks ?‍♀️?

brook2704 Thu 06-Oct-22 08:59:16

A big congratulations and very well done to your DGD Taichinan!? ???

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 06-Oct-22 09:06:03

Good morning from a sunny and calm (after all the wind) Oxfordshire.

Putting the kitchen back together today, but we have to clean the tops of the cupboards first, I’ve been banned because of my shoulder problem and MrOops is out until lunchtime so I will potter until then, I had a rough night and have only just crawled out of bed, so I’m not up to much anyway.

Have a good day everyone and hugs for those who aren’t so chipper, MrOops just gave me a nice hug ‘ because you look so awful’ thanks chum. But it did help. A bit.

EkwaNimitee Thu 06-Oct-22 09:11:36

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but windy Carlisle.
Yesterday it rained heavily until after lunch. The window cleaner was due but is now coming today, yesterday would have been pointless.
I went outside briefly and planted some bulbs. As soon as I got back in there was one very torrential shower and that was the theme for the rest of the afternoon.
Today, a catch up with housework and the ironing also awaits. I've also to finish putting away the summer clothes. I never used to do this, we used to go to Spain for the entire winter. I've been interested to hear about Menorca, DH and I never managed to get there though we often thought about doing so. DH was keen to do so because it features in the Hornblower novels of which he was an avid reader.
I'm not going anywhere at the moment, I'm fed up with the train situation. Though Avanti have promptly refunded me for altered and cancelled journeys and given me a voucher for future ones so I must use it sometime.

Have a good day all. I am looking forward to another chapter of the ball bearing mystery, BlueBalou. I think harrigran has the right answer for you.

Nannytopsy Thu 06-Oct-22 09:15:11

Good morning everyone from a reader but infrequent poster these days. Just popped in to say we have a beautiful morning in Suffolk with a breeze. Just as well - DS is bringing their washing over, as their machine has broken. They had the tumble drier fixed yesterday!
Better get moving.
Best wishes to you all

Blossoming Thu 06-Oct-22 09:21:27

Good morning Mick and everyone. A stormy morning in this corner of Lancashire.

Today I need to collect a prescription from the pharmacy. It’s in Morrisons and I have to walk past the bakery to reach it. Today I may give in to temptation.

Thinking of all with trials and tribulations today, with special thoughts for Baggs

Mapleleaf Thu 06-Oct-22 09:26:13

Good morning all,
A nice sunny, but chilly start to the day in my part of South Yorkshire today.

I’ve only scanned the posts so will return to read thoroughly after my Pilates class, though I did read about the ball bearings - how mysterious. I think we’ll all be mini Sherlock Holmes’s trying to solve it!

Well I’d better go, but will return later.

Take care.

luluaugust Thu 06-Oct-22 09:35:12

Good morning from W Kent. Off to art seems to have been a busy week drinking tea. All my close friends seem to be running from one problem to another I can only listen and commiserate.
Have a good day.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 06-Oct-22 09:46:56

Good morning all from wet Harrogate, where I’ve just had to bring the washing in after a heavy shower - not expected on a dry day!!
I think the mystery of the metal balls will be solved when you take a look at your drawers bluebalou.
Wish my hairdresser did a cheaper day Marydoll but don’t think the posh ones in Harrogate can afford cheaper days!
I await my Sainsburies delivery just now. Then am hoping to get a trip to Knaresborough. This pm hopefully I’ll have a visit from my DGD and this evening it will be Zoom time.
Have the best day possible folks

A late good morning from a wild and windy Durham. I was up and out early to drop DD dogs off for their grooming appointment at 9am. It’s only about 20 miles away but in rush-hour it’s taken an hour and a half to get them there. Now I’m killing time until 11am to pick them up. SinL has back to back dental appointments with his Mum later, so I’ll be babysitting DGS2 while he does that. Then the young dog will stay there and I’ll bring the older one home with me. He’s company and I don’t mind looking after him, although I feel guilty if I’m out of the house for long periods.
I hope ann has had a better night and still thinking of Baggs and her DD.
Best wishes to all. X

aggie Thu 06-Oct-22 09:53:55

Good morning everyone from a chilly Co Armagh,
Nothing planned till this evening when I might go to our location history meeting
A trio of locals are chatting about “ When diesel was 10 shillings a gallon “ , all of them are at least 20 years younger than me !

SunshineSally Thu 06-Oct-22 10:09:47

Good morning Mick and everyone from a sunny but chilly south Hants. I’m resisting the urge to put the heating on!
Plasterer is here to skim bedroom walls and ceiling - yesterday was spent repairing walls, removing ceiling and re boarding it in preparation for today. In removing the ceiling he found a mouse nest complete with dead mice!! ?
Taichinan Congratulations to your DGD
Baubles I hope your first day back at work went well. I remember my first days back after having 5 months off - so missed having an afternoon nap! A phased return is so important. Be kind to yourself and ease yourself in x

Safe journey home Shazza and anyone else travelling. We’ve been to Menorca a couple of times - such a lovely island.
Marydoll isn’t it amazing how we can always make food stretch! And those unexpected visits are often the best times had - brings a tear to my eye (and warm memories to my heart).
Baggs Thinking of you and hoping all is well ?x
grandMattie Gosh you have a busy weekend ahead - make sure you try and get time for yourself to recharge.
Have the best day you can everyone. Thoughts with those with worries etc??
Hugs and ? for you all x

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Made a mess of things yesterday, set out for bus at lunchtime which I only take once a week an hour late, as I got mixed up with concert start time and haven’t been for months. Then that bus didn’t turn up.
Got into town eventually and picked up size 12 red trousers to go with matching jacket. Tried them on and waist rather tight, but 14 would be too big. Will manage with a waist expander gadget. Might cut back on goodies in the evening.
Had lunch in new (to me) tearooms. Indifferent service and my white bread prawn sandwiches had the crust on! And not too generous either. Very twee decor. I think they are trying to do a Betty’s. Waitress in old fashioned uniform.
I have a flurry of emails from two male fellow informal ‘committee’ members from the music club at odds with each other. So silly…
Hope your return to work suits you baubles thoughts to baggs and will read through properly later.

Kalu Thu 06-Oct-22 11:01:04

Good morning all from a windy, drizzly, sunshine start to the day in Glasgow.

We watched episode one of Inside Man last night, quite enjoyable with two of my favourite actors. David Tennant’s story was just a bit too far fetched I thought .
Hoping all went well yesterday and not too tiring for you baubles
Aren’t children just the best medicine kitty. Just the people we need to see when our spirits are down. Good luck with the stairs.
Much love and kind thoughts to you and your DD Baggs
I’m sure your new glasses will look fab on you Marydoll and much admired. Wear them with an air of je ne sais quoi?

Best wishes to all for a good day and some much needed positivity for all with worrying times.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x
