Good Morning Sunday 9th October 2022
(43 Posts)Good morning Mick and all who follow from the Black country. Still dark out but clear sky and no wind.
Early start today DH on fishing contest, one more to go for this season.
Haven't decided what to do with myself yet will see what the weather is doing when it gets lighter.
Happy birthday & Anniversary Pittcity and best wishes to anyone else celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Will catch up with everybody's news later enjoy your Sunday and may you all find some ?.
Good morning from a dark, dry E Kent. Wasn’t the full moon lovely last night? The sky was so clear, but for the street lamps, all the stars would have be visible. Only Venus, last night.
I made a ton of pancakes for breakfast which the girls devoured n lodger had never had a pancake breakfast!
We had a really beautiful little ceremony performed byDD, and each of the seven of us put a scoop of ashes down, saying a few words about him. Was very touching and cathartic.
We all came back for tea and cakes ? and chatted for a good hour.
In the afternoon, DD and family went to places they had known when younger, including Deal, where they played in the penny arcade. I had a sleep.
We had Shakshouka for dinner, a favourite of both DD and DSiL. The girls had veggie sausages and chips.
Everyone (but me) rushed off to see Strictly. We were all done in and retired early.
Today the family is off to see “Six” a birthday present to Iris. I’m helping with teas at our old church (hence the cakes) after a SArmy concert.
Have lovely birthdays/anniversaries and I hope today will match the forecast sunshine. Carpe diem ❤️???
Good morning from a mild Torbay where we had bright sunshine all day yesterday.
I had a wonderful late lunch with about a dozen of my comrades from ‘Allo, ‘Allo. Tasty food, lovely wine and lively company. Our director is looking at scripts for next year in the hope of finding something to include us all! Cold Comfort Farm was mentioned.
Church for the early service then out for lunch with the Props team. Like buses: nothing for ages then two come along! Both being held at hostelries on Babbacombe Downs means I can walk there in less than 10 minutes.
It was good to hear of how your day went yesterday, grandMattie, and I'm glad you included a time to rest.
Every blessing this Sunday to you all. ??✝️??
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s still fairly dark but I can see it’s cloudy.
Wishing you a Happy Birthday Pittcity and also Happy Anniversary to you and MrP. ??
I’ve several things I want to do today so it might be a case of writing them down and ticking them off.
Have a good day all and enjoy your roasts ???
Good Morning from a chilly S Yorks with a clear sky.
yes, the moon was lovely, and I live far enough out to get few street lamps, so the sky was crowned with stars. Horrible dreams yuk so up early.
Another here pleased that your day had precious and meaningful moments in it grandMattie. Bests for your special day Pittcity.
Today is Quakers and then the gym. I must ring DS for a catch-up later..
Here’s Matt.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s just sunrise. We have a slice of pink and apricot sky just showing. It is dry and not windy. We had a glorious sunny day yesterday so more of the same would be a real bonus but Himself says rain is forecast. Does the weather know though?
We will be home before noon. Just chilling here this morning, breakfast in a bit as we all had a busy day yesterday! Shower and hair wash at home then late afternoon we will pop over to my stepfather’s for couple of hours. He wants to open a bottle of 18 year old malt whisky that one of his relatives in Wester Ross gave him for his birthday and he’d like us to join him in a wee dram.
“Slàinte Mhath” indeed dear man! ?
Hope you have a great birthday and anniversary Pittcity now I’ve got the day right! I wonder what your surprise is?
Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. A dry day forecast so I’ll pop some holiday washing on the line.
I have been awake since six as I was in a beautiful dream where I was in conversation with my grandson and waking up so sad with a thump knowing it might never happen. We live in hope.
Happy birthday Pittcity? Enjoy your anniversary together today ?
We are going over to see DD, SIL and GDs. They all go to Morocco on holiday tomorrow so lots of cuddles needed before they go. GD1 is super excited apparently. Baby B is 7 months old now it’s seems hardly any time since I announced it to you all.
Enjoy your day of family gatherings and lovely roasts. Hope those feeling unwell find some respite today. ??
Good morning from a dry and hopefully brightening N. Bucks.
Had to take some painkillers in the night as my arthritic aches were so bad. Maybe aggravated by having the flu jab yesterday.
Today DH and I are tasked to work out how to make a wooden display Christmas tree . Otherwise I have pudding to make for dinner with friends this evening.
Chocolate pannattone pudding I think.
GM pleased yesterday went well.
Lovely days wished for those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.
Healing thoughts to those need them. Wishing all a good day.
Good morning everyone, it’s dry here too in Wiltshire.
I went to Salisbury yesterday, it was very busy ; Saturday is market day, a really good selection of stalls.
I did buy fruit and bread there then I found a pair of comfortable shoes in M&S (I struggle buying shoes because I have narrow feet, arthritic ankles and high insteps) . Sadly Hotter have closed their shops in Bath and Salisbury, the nearest shop now is Dorchester ?
I popped in to see my sister on the way back, her DH has been doing my maternal family tree, and I found out more about it in that hour than the last 69 years, my mother would always refuse to talk about her family. I have absolutely no idea why other than she felt ashamed of them (with no reason whatsoever to do so!)
I have a lot of bulbs to plant today, that’ll keep me quiet ?
Have a lovely day everyone x
Good morning from an overcast Oslo.
We are climbing a big hill today, apparently the views are worth it.
Our son played his last match of the season yesterday with his amateur rugby team, we watched and joined them for a drink afterwards, it started to get a bit messy so we left them to it!
I strongly suspect he will be feeling a bit rough so it won’t be an early start.
It was so interesting to meet them all, the team consists of; English, Irish, German, Lithuanian, French, Mexican, Ugandan and just one Norwegian.
Our final day today and back home via Stansted?tomorrow.
Ashcombe

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is fully up now in South Yorkshire - lovely to watch its light creep across the fields. It’s going to be another nice day. I had a pretty poor night. I’m supposed to be going to watch GS play football this morning but the jury is out on that one at the moment. They are coming here later for a roast dinner. I still have stuff to get done before the plumbers come in tomorrow and then I have three days of disruption to look forward to.
For those who remember me posting about our 26 week old premie, he is now out of intensive care and on a high dependency unit. As his Grandad put it - he’s one step closer to the car park!
Happy birthday, Pitt ??and Happy Anniversary to you and Mr P??. Have a lovely day!
Enjoy your Sunday, folks.
Now how on earth did that happen???
Good morning all. It's cloudy and grey on the Angus coast, although the sun is making a peachy attempt to break through. Rain forecast though .......
Off to Perth soon for breakfast with DD and DGD3 before we all hit the shops. I'm hoping to get some ideas for a gift for DGD's 17th birthday in three weeks' time - I rather think driving lessons will enter the equation somewhere! I also hope that maybe they have more details other than "it was soooo good and I'm soooo tired" about Dancing GD's first day of her intensive, although I rather think not. She'll be on her two hour commute to the second day as I write - oh for the energy of youth!
Wishing you all a sunny Sunday x
Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset
Got an amazing amount of ‘stuff’ done yesterday without intending to. No idea what today will bring, bulbs waiting to be planted here too bluebalou, not so sure we’ll get to them though.
Happy birthday pittcity and congratulations to you both on your anniversary.
Hope Sunday is kind to us all.
Glad to hear of the tiny baby's progress, Greyduster - a real wee fighter!
Morning all from an autumnal West Oxfordshire. A quiet day looms. Reading the papers, lunch out and basically lazing around! Next week promises to be very busy: covid and flu jabs, dentist, colonoscopy and on Friday elder son and his family are coming for the weekend.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with just a few clouds. It looks very windy and we’ve rain forecast for later, so a bit of everything today!
Wishing Pittcity a very Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary! ???
Such very good news about your DGS Greyduster thanks for letting us know
I’ve got a FaceTime call with DS soon but other than that today much planned for today. He lives in Switzerland but is going to be in Edinburgh for a quick visit next weekend so we’re going to meet up face to face which will be lovely.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning all from Glasgow. I have no idea what the weather is like, for I am lying in a darkened room, with teeth crunching Dollie lying asleep beside me.
We have been battling with the covers all night, she likes them off, I like them on. She of course won! ?
Yesterday DD and SIl came for lunch, but stayed to entertain her ladyship, when they saw how unwell I was, after my jags. I didn't want to cancel and spoil DS1's birthday. I felt absolutely awful, so much so that I never made the vigil Mass last night. A very rare occurrence.
Dollie's comment, when I said we weren't going, was Whew, thank goodness for that!. ?
Today I have to go to church, to ensure that all safeguarding protocols are in place for the new children's group, the facilitators appear a tad uniformed when it comes to safeguarding procedures. I would rather lie in bed!
I intend to put on my teacher hat, I had noticed some children ( on the autistic) were overwhelmed. That needs addressed.
I have no connection with the group, but I have been volunteered to support them.
After helping them out, I'm taking a step back from it, not quite my thing!
The afternoon will be spent resting, I think!
I'm glad to hear everything went well yesterday, GM.
Enjoy the double celebrations today, the Pitts! ????
Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.
Good morning all and it’s a bright start here in Essex. We’ve had such lovely autumn days recently and the countryside is beautiful.??.
Yesterday was lovely. Our old friends Golden Wedding get together. Great to see ‘old’ faces . Their two daughters worked so hard, waiting on us all and letting their parents sit and chat. Both are poorly with Parkinson’s and mobility problems.
Some of us had been at the wedding and we reminisced about the day, when we were young , healthy and carefree! A bit emotional too.
A quiet day today - walk the dog, read the papers and cook dinner. Lovely.
Happy celebrations Pitt ???.
GM I’m glad yesterday went well for you all. ?.
Grey Lovely to hear your premmie is progressing well. I love grandads positive ‘one step closer to the car park’ . ❤️.
Sago Enjoy your final day with your family and stage journey home tomorrow. ?
Hoping you all have a lovely day. ???
Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Northampton. Just enjoying a mug of tea before the DGDs surface; sausages ready and waiting to go on once they do for sausage butties!
Had a nice day with them yesterday; took younger DGD to the shops for a drink and cake in the morning - I was supposed to be taking my summer duvet to the cleaners, but got on the bus and realised it was still sitting in the hall at home. Elder DGD arrived from her dance classes mid afternoon. Then I helped the younger one with her music homework - she needed to practice and play a simple fanfare, so we had fun sat at the piano, ended up playing it as a duet.
After dinner we enjoyed Strictly, then the girls drifted off to bed and I caught up with some tv.
No plans.for today; the girls will walk home later this morning, and I may have a walk to the garden centre this afternoon. Or stay in, read the papers and do some knitting. Or attack the garden.....
Have a pleasant Sunday everyone; a very happy birthday ? and anniversary to Pitt - hope you have a lovely day.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and dark clouds are massing. The forecast isn't good. Happy birthday to Pittcity and happy anniversary too. Marydoll once a teacher! It's very hard not to get involved when you see something needs fixing. Ashcombe 'Cold Comfort Farm' is so funny. It's one of my favourite books.
Yesterday I did the housework and then snoozed most of the afternoon. Today I'll have to go to Aldi for food and get the hoover out as there are leaves and bits of leaves in the kitchen and living room. Later dd is dropping in with the boys. I'll look forward to seeing them. Have a good day all.
Morning all
Another beautiful blue sky and a dry day forecast here (19’) in S E Essex.
We are pipping down to middle son’s later to see how their extension is coming on, then we will stop for a late Sunday Lunch on our way home.
Happy birthday birthday PittCity and Happy Anniversary to you both ???
As his Grandad put it - he’s one step closer to the car park!
That comment really made me laugh Greyduster your husband is obviously witty and it was such a great take on things! I’m so pleased you had this good news to share with us.
A beautiful sunny and blue sky morning in Oxfordshire once again. Yesterday DD1 and I spent a lovely afternoon sitting in the sunshine drinking tea and catching up. She is looking well and although still tired, she is progressing well after the months of treatment.
Today DH and I will do a long walk with dog, we will take a picnic and enjoy the wonderful autumn day, I will then cook a roast for tonight.
May you all find some sunshine and laughter today.
