Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start does not feel as cold as previous morning.
Yesterdays iron infusion went OK roughly 30 minutes on a drip , I think they are going to notify my Doctor as to follow ups if not tablets.
Today this afternoon a preop assessment at the Churchill in Oxford , brother taking me in.
Take Care ,
Mick

Up early for me as have four men waiting for the concrete lorry. Have already made their first cup of tea because once the load arrives they won’t stop till it’s spread and smoothed. Plans for the day are fluid as dependent on what access the chaos need. Nice morning but cold but good for concrete apparently.

Hope everyone’s day runs to plan.

Morning from S Yorks.

Red sky first thing...hmm...was hoping for another sunny day as was indoors yesterday for Zooms etc.

Mick, hoping todays procedure goes well, and best wishes for recovering poorlinesses and sadnesses.

I have NOTHING in the diary. My kind of day!

GrannySomerset Wed 12-Oct-22 08:02:59

“Chaos” should read “chaps”, though on second thoughts …..

Kalu Wed 12-Oct-22 08:04:59

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow. A Waitrose visit is a must so the long puffa coat with a hood will be donned. The sky has just gone from grey to yellow casting a much more pleasant hue than grey.

Pilates went well yesterday. Martha is a Miriam Makeba fan and was playing Pata Pata before my lesson. A favourite of a dear GN friend who died last year who loved her music as I do too.
DH had his weekly speech therapy appointment followed by a CT scan…..more waiting for results.
It’s quite incredible what you can pack into a day GM. Where do you find the energy? I hope your dear friend is recovering well.
Fingers crossed you are in less pain today and had a good night’s sleep kitty

Best wishes to all for a good day and kind to those with troubling times.

Good morning, wet here in south Lanarkshire but a beautiful golden light through the rain clouds.
Steeling myself to go to “beginners yoga”. I’ve been before but not since I was diagnosed with “severe osteoarthritis” in my hips. Nothing has changed I’m just somehow nervous. My bag is packed and DH has wrestled me into my sports bra so I have no excuse/reason not to go.
Wish me luck!

Grandmabatty Wed 12-Oct-22 08:17:07

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and wet. Kitty what a rotten time you have had.
Yesterday was to be quiet but dd invited me up to try her apple crumble. It would have been rude not to go! It was delicious and I got to play with dgs1 and dgs2. I arrived home to a phonecall from my aunt and uncle who are in Turkey for a while.
Today I will visit mum, then my friend and her partner. Later on this afternoon I'm meeting a teacher friend for coffee and a chat. So a busy day socialising. Leftover chicken curry for dinner. Have a good day all

Gingster Wed 12-Oct-22 08:19:52

Good morning all and it’s a chilly one,

Dh is going fishing so I have a free day. Already got the slow cooker on for a beef and veg casserole for when he comes home late afternoon.
Will change the bed linen and clean the house. Kitchen cupboards need a sort out so my day is planned. Unless …….. ?.

My house is looking very autumnal . It’s a cottagey style and comes into its own at this time of year. I bought a lovely autumn wreath for the front door and fake autumn leaves for the fireplace. I’ll keep these up until the Christmas decs are due.
I do love this time of year! ??. It makes me happy!

Mick good luck for today.?.

Hope you feel better soon Kitty.

GM - what a shame about the speaker. It’s painful having to sit through a boring hour or so! No escape! ?.

Wishing you all a ‘good’ day, one way or another! ?

Stilllearning Wed 12-Oct-22 08:35:01

Morning from S Lanarkshire where it seems to be clearing up a bit. I wrote a long post yesterday which promptly vanished when I pressed ‘review’ and I had no time to repeat it!

I wanted to thank you grandMattie for your Nutella brownie recipe which you kindly sent me. DGS loved making them and was delighted by the result!
Unfortunately he and DGD couldn’t take any in to school to share with their friends because of the no nuts rule, which I had not thought about, but sweet toothed DSiL was quite happy!

A lovely much delayed lunch and catch up yesterday with friends, two of whom we haven’t seen since lock down due to real difficulties in their lives, it was so good to pick up again. We all go back a very long way indeed.

I hope you got your paperwork sorted yesterday baubles, the word ‘objectives’ sent a chill down my spine?! It took me back to the sad time when the madness of excessive recording overtook actual teaching in schools and inflicted damage which persists to this day.
It certainly sounds as if your employers recognise how lucky they are to have you so all will be well!

Wishing everyone the best day possible???

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow, where its 11°C.

Gosh you all sound so busy! How times have changed from our parents' time. Mine hardly left the house, at my age.
I have no plans at all today, I plan to take it easy, apart from altering a dress. Its a White Stuff one, which I bought from an outlet on Ebay. White Stuff is usually a perfect fit on me, but the waist on this one is way too low.

Yesterday's outing to Paisley was very fruitful, but tiring.
To save us going to the supermarket on the way home, I suggested we pop into the Iceland store next to the opticians, for bread and milk.
Much to DH's delight, without knowing if I had freezer room or not, I picked up a solitary turkey crown, which had been reduced to half price, a real bargain!
It got even better at the checkout, the assistant looked at DH ( obviously thought I didn't qualify?) and said, Oh I forgot to add your 20% pensioner's discount.
The £22 turkey cost just just under £8. Oh how I love a bargain!

After DH went for his appointment, I had a mooch around the shops, where I picked up a winter Made in Italy Dress reduced to £10! I was well chuffed!
However, I realised I was getting really breathless (with all the excitement of the bargains), so I purchased a bar of Milka chocolate and a bottle of Pepsi Max, ( banned by the health police) sat on a bench and had a feast! No-one to tell me off.?

I went looking for DH to intervene , support him in the choosing of the new glasses.
He was doing that nodding thing to the dispenser, rather than admit he is deaf, but I managed to avoid a few disasters! ?

Our fish tea was delicious, worth the wait and we managed to get a seat beside the coal fire, bliss.
The restaurant decor is very retro, it reminds me of my childhood, it hasn't changed much.
On the way, we passed a charity shop, which DH usually avoids like the plague. He spotted a brand new horse racing game in the window , for £3, advertised as The nastiest horse racing game ever. It allows for all sorts of shenanigans! SIL and DD will love it!
I came out with a black velvet, unlined floor length coat, costing £3! It was in perfect condition and will go well, as an extra layer, with my midi dresses.

I just wanted to say thank you all for your good wishes yesterday. I was feeling rather sorry for myself! ?
Grandmabatty, your quote really resonated with me.
My wobble is over and I have given myself a good talking too.
Gwen, I hope you managed to salvage something of your trip.

Hoping your pre op assessment goes well, Mick, its good to hear you are not on your own.
Kitty, I hope you begin to feel better soon. My thoughts are with our fellow Glesca Grannie Baggs, her news is heartbreaking.
For all those with medical appointments, I wish you a successful visit.

I need to get moving, indulging in a rare lie in, I'm quite enjoying it!

Take care all!

Greyduster Wed 12-Oct-22 08:37:32

All this talk of boring speakers reminded me of a Wives Club (the military version of the WI) visit to a neighbouring station where the guest speaker was giving a riveting talk about the process of the onward transportation all our goods and chattels from one station to the next and the proper way to pack MFO boxes (as if we hadn’t worked that out for ourselves after years of bitter experience). I sat next to our RSM’s wife and she actually did fall asleep. I had to nudge her a couple of times.?

harrigran Wed 12-Oct-22 08:45:38

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
Heating engineer serviced boiler yesterday, he arrived at 8.20 and was very thorough. He also had a look at my toilet that has been unusable for 4 months, he agrees that we will probably have to pull the en suite apart as all the gubbins are behind a tiled wall ?
SIL and I went shopping before lunch, big mistake as we came back with all sorts of tasty bits. During the afternoon we walked to another supermarket and bought some odds and ends not available in Sainsbury's.
Yesterday I bought a basic, old type, telephone and a power bank in case of power cuts. SIL says he will bring me a camping light to keep handy.
Quiet day today, hopefully tidy more cupboards.
Supportive hugs to Baggs and hoping that kittylester feels an improvement today.

baubles Wed 12-Oct-22 08:56:04

Good morning all from dreich South Lanarkshire.

I’ve had a wakeful night thinking about my dear friend who has had dreadful news about her daughter.

We then awoke to a message telling us that a family member attempted to take their life yesterday.

I just don’t have any words.

Marydoll Wed 12-Oct-22 09:01:09

baubles, ??

aggie Wed 12-Oct-22 09:06:04

Good morning everyone from a wet Co Armagh,
My friend rang last night , she has Covid , her Daughter is home visiting so lots of bizztiness. Says she hasn’t time to be poorly , but is now isolating as best she can in the bedroom
Listening to her I realised her symptoms are the same as my “cold” ones … yep a test showed positive , have spent the morning cancelling the cleaner , my club , and a visit from a friend
Hugs and prayers for Bags , such devastating news

Kalu Wed 12-Oct-22 09:07:05

Oh, baubles, I do feel for you having received two pieces of such sad news. I sincerely hope your family member receives every care and treatment to help them through their dark thoughts.

GrannySomerset Wed 12-Oct-22 09:15:41

Sympathetic thoughts for Baggs and Baubles, both dealing with the most awful situations.

EkwaNimitee Wed 12-Oct-22 09:15:48

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey and showery Carlisle.
I went into town yesterday in search of a book that even mighty Amazon didn't have. Nor, surprisingly, did Waterstones but they suggested another bookshop I didn't know. What a discovery! They sold new books but also had a perfect warren of secondhand ones. And they had my desired book and a signed copy of it too. Then it was on to the charity bookshop where I disposed of several books but managed to come out with another one I'd spotted in their window, by one of my favourite historian authors. I also managed to treat myself to coffee and biscuits (aren't the cakes getting to be an horrendous price?) and make a pass through the M&S food hall.
I got out in the garden in the afternoon, re-developed a small area and put a shrub in it. Said shrub needs a male partner which was the excuse to trawl online nurseries to find one, plus one or two other temptations.
I shall stay quietly indoors today and catch up with the housework.

There seems to be a lot of poorliness and sadness about on here at the moment. I do hope matters improve for all of you.

luluaugust Wed 12-Oct-22 09:20:22

Good morning all from a cloudy W Kent. Waiting for the taxi to take us to the station and then onwards to Scotland.
Thinking of boring meetings, we once attended a talk and film about railway shunting. The gents had all had a good lunch, the lights were put out for the film and the next thing I remember was one of the elderly gents falling off his chair when he dozed off.
baubles I am so sorry you have had such distressing news.
Best wishes to all

Stilllearning Wed 12-Oct-22 09:22:06

baubles, so very sorry ? All involved in my prayers x

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 12-Oct-22 09:27:07

Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire.

MissOops operation went well, compared to last time things are much better, so different to last year when we were still in the midst of Covid and no one was allowed in to see her.
Off again to visit this afternoon.

So many with such sad news at the moment, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

hollysteers Wed 12-Oct-22 09:27:49

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
My turn on duty at the music club went well (first time) but we had sad news as one of our attendees had died the day before. He had played his guitar the previous week and had a music lesson on the day he died. At ninety six, that’s good going.
I’m off to a recital today and hope the bus turns up on the only day in the week I take a bus. It broke down last week.

Thoughts to all those with troubles here today, I will read through later.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 12-Oct-22 09:32:11

Baubles sorry for your news about your family member. ? what they must have been feeling to want to end their like.
I was thinking about Baggs this morning. Just can’t imagine how they are all feeling. My heart goes out to them.

Life

Taichinan Wed 12-Oct-22 09:40:23

Good morning all. It's grey here at the moment, but there's sunshine further up the coast and another patch over the hills, so you never know. I was up at the crack of dawn yesterday to greet the men coming to repair one of my new bedroom windows, but just before they arrived I got a phone call saying they wouldn't be able to come!! I was not best pleased. They gave me another date for Friday but I've just realised that I'm going out - a long arranged lunch which I'd forgotten about when talking to the window men's office - so off we go on the merry-go-round again.
What awful news for you baubles. We're living through such troubled times.....
Well done for yesterday Mick and good luck for today's procedure. Glad it's all coming together for you now
Urms Matt gave me quite a chuckle this morning! Thank you.
Grandmattie I'm so glad your DH's hat has found a worthy head to grace. And well done taking your tai chi class. You do pack a lot into your days!
Nothing much on here today, apart from the usual and taking my friend out for a drive and a cuppa later. So off I trot. Sending love and hugs to where they are needed, along with some sympathetic Bah Humbug ?

Greyduster Wed 12-Oct-22 09:48:27

Baubles ?.
