When should you take down greetings cards?

My birthday and wedding anniversary we would keep the cards standing for one week.
At Christmas every flat surface had cards on because DS had a birthday one week before and DH's birthday was five days before. Cards came down on twelfth night.

There's no definitive answer as everyone is different. With me it's mostly one week. Except Christmas when it's longer.

My birthday cards about a week.DH birthday cards when I can't stand them gathering dust anymore. They then go on his desk for him to do what he will,I wouldn't dare throw his. Any from grandchildren go into a special heart-shaped box that held a Bettys hamper collection. Christmas cards with the decorations by 12 night.

About 10 days, then in the recycling, apart from Christmas ones which stay up with the tree and other decorations.

Dh had a big birthday a few days ago - lots of cards on top of the piano. I’ll leave them for a couple of weeks, which will save me dusting it - they’re taking up all the space not already taken by photos of Gdcs.

I blu-tack all Christmas cards to sundry painted surfaces - that works well here. They all come down on 6th January.

At Christmas we take down all decs. & cards by 12th night.

For others I leave them as long as possible, I feel if folk bother to remember, buy & give/send cards to me/us, I should display for a decent time.
Also I don't have to dust...!! .
(We are rather a cluttered house, but today we are starting to clear our sitting room ready for the decorator next week).

Five of us live here so cards up for much of the year. They come down when the next event occurs. We start with Mother’s Day in March followed by DS in April, then 2 grandchildren in May, Father’s Day in June,DH in July, Wedding Anniversary early August followed by my birthday in the middle of the month. We then have none up until the Christmas cards start arriving. I love having them up. It feels like a celebration.

I don’t understand how greetings cards that are sending good wishes and love etc - could be considered as clutter. ..really?
I think they are rather lovely especially from children.

Whenever I feel they have served their purpose. Special ones are put away in my treasure box, the oldest being my mother’s first valentine card from my father. It’s beautiful.

Until the day after the birthday ,then they go in the box for GD's school who use them for crafting .I'm not sentimental about stuff like that ,I usually tell folk no cards or presents .If they want to give stick some cash in a charity box

Often till the next celebration - so it might be months! Apart from Christmas cards.

Your birthday. Your cards to do with as you wish. The anniversary is negotiable I guess. However that's a very encouraging get out when you say your husband won't notice their absence.

When I feel like it - usually when Christmas and New Year are definitely over. Birthday cards, the same. I tend to keep them though rather than throw them out

Phew! ? Though I have to confess to having a wooden Mothers Day card still up from 2 years ago! Far too nice to discard ?.

If they are very special and handmade it can be years...

About a week here, or as soon as I need to dust. I'm not sentimental either, so they go straight into the recycling bin.

About 2weeks for the regular ones but the cards from my DGC usually stay up for ages

If you don't like the clutter pin up some string then use some tiny craft pegs to hang them like bunting.

Yes, I'd do that.

Hang them from ribbons with tiny pegs as you might do with Christmas cards?
It would keep surfaces uncluttered.

A week for birthday cards.

Christmas tree comes down on 1st January (if not before!) so the cards go then too.

I've got a wooden Mothering Sunday tag which a DGD made for me years ago still hanging up.
She insisted on writing it herself without help and she knew how to spell my name (she didn't ?)

Twelfth Night for Christmas and New Year cards, after 7 days for birthday cards.

Birthday cards come down the next day because my birthday is over. Christmas cards come down the day after Boxing Day along with the decorations.
