We caved in this morning,……

We put ours on for an hour on a morning and sit in the conservatory in the afternoon if the sun is shining, We have put it on for two hours tonight. Hour by hour seems to be the thing at the moment but my husband has COPD and we can't afford him to get a chill

Heating still not on. I live in a well insulated south facing bungalow and, in South Yorkshire, we’ve had sunshine for the last couple of weeks so I’ve been quite toasty. I don’t tend to feel the cold so was prepared to fire up the heating when family came for a weekend stay. They did come, including teenager, with fleeces but didn’t complain of cold

Yes, if I get really cold, my heating goes on. It wasn't on yesterday at all.

We have a 'smart' meter and it can tell you how much you have used this week, this month etc. The only problem is does the week start on Monday and does the month start on the 1st? I have worked that out yet.

Definitely agree although I have a Cosy rather than an OOdie (not quite as expensive) but much better than the cheap version I tried first.

I still work from home full time and get quite cold just sitting at my desk rather than moving around and so I live in mine in the colder months, and, like you use them in the evenings outside. I have even converted my sceptical OH to one now.

We caved this morning. Wearing thin, thermal vest layer. I don't prefer to begin layering up too soon, makes winter seem too long.

I've been away on holiday, so have only caught up with this thread today.
Karmalady saying that Oodie had horrible selling tactics online intrigued me, as I have never had anything but wonderful service from them.
Therefore I had a look at their TrustPilot reviews, and strangely enough, almost all reviews are positive!
So, sorry Karmalady, but I don't agree with you at all, and as many, many Gransnetters have taken my advice and bought Oodies two at a time, many others seem to disagree with you too!

I put mine on once, only to test it to ensure working fine. Last year we hardly had the heating on, we are used to it.. I am disabled so for us it’s a luxury not an essential… however knowing the gas and electric was all going to change this year, I saved up and bought an electric blanket, two Oodies ( not used yet as gifts for Yuletide) but have cheaper versions, a tube heater that costs pennies to run, and a dehumidifier that’s fab at getting washing dry.

I must confess no one really visit us in the cold months as they are aware for them it’s cold in our house, but in all honesty, do I feel cold, on occasions yes not going to lie, but prefer it not on until desperate, like 4ft snow outside.
I have dogs and our kitchen door that leads to the outside garden is open 24 hrs a day, only time it’s shut is when we go out.. it’s always open… even throughout the night…it’s just something we got used to and my dogs. But you may think I am daft because anyone could break in, true, but they would have to get by the security alarms and my 45kg guard dog first.

My bedroom is warm though because of the tube heater and dehumidifier, my bedroom is on the outside of the house, in the winter it is usually 15-17 degrees.

I am on a smart meter so now it’s topped up I will put it on Christmas Day.

Still very mild/warm where I am in West Wales. I haven’t even put a jumper on yet this autumn.

I recommended a cheaper version of the oodie a while back.
Less than half the price, and I'm really pleased with it.

We still havent needed to put the heating on yet. We live in South Cambs and it's been mild here luckily. I'm all prepared though, new eco boiler installed last week. A couple of wool throws, from a charity shop and a heated throw. Oh and the 3 hot water bottles.
You know what will happen, we will have a mild winter and l won't need any of the above. Fingers crossed.

I even got the old boy, the dog that is, a new puffa coat. Just in case. He loves it.

You should put yourself first. Christmas will still be there next year but will you if you don’t look after yourself?

We do not turn our heating on on and off, but rely on the thermostat and while it is coming on very occasionally in the mornings, it hasn't really come on properly yet this year.

The heating is programmed to come on twice a day. Our thermostat is set at 18.5 and we do not change it. I have yet to see a temperature under 18 degrees registered on the thermostat in the hours when the heating is not on.

Maybe if you read the genuine reviews, about the genuine product, from the genuine company, written by people who had actual experience of the products, you'd know why I won't buy cheaper imitations!
I've just ordered another four Oodies to keep at our holiday cottage, so that we can sit out in the garden and admire the stunning view without having to layer up!
I just hope the weather's dry when we're there!

No heating yet for me

With greatest respect Mayal a dog has its own coat and doesn’t need puffer jackets it will over heat they aren’t made to have extra clothes on

Our thermostat caved at wakeup time weeks before we caved to wearing thermal vests, now I'm about ready for another layer.

Bereavement seems to be making me feel the cold, plus I have Reynauds. Heating on morning and evening here

One (or maybe the only) advantage of having a broken thyroid is that my temperature has gone up several notches, and I am far more often to hot than too cold.

I am still getting by with an hour or so of putting a heated throw over me in the evening. If I wanted to put the heating on I would, but I haven't felt the need. We'll be going to our lodge at the weekend, though, and I expect to have to put it on there.

I am beginning to find this unseasonable warmth , in some ways, quite depressing. Our heating is controlled by the thermostat and has been coming on for barely half an hour a day. When we get up in the morning the towel rail in the bathroom may be just warm enough to confirm the heating has come on, but then that is it, it has gone off by 6.30am and the house is warm enough by the afternoon for the heating not to come on at all during the evening.

I am wearing winter clothes, but I have yet to wear an extra layer when I go out anywhere. My coats hang in the coat cupboard unused. I am a chilly mortal. I suffer from Reynauds syndrome and always have cold feet, but on some days I have been feeling hot and sticky with just a sweater on.

I do put the electric blanket on for about 10 minutes before I go to bed, but I have no throws, extra fleecy layers etc etc for wrapping myself up in of an evening, there is no need for anything like that. In the south east of England it just has not been cold enough.

If anything has highlighted the effects of glbal warming this autumn has, when we are nearly into November and the heating is still not coming on.
