Dog friendly? What would you do?

I arranged to go out for a countryside walk with a group of friends, some I know well, some I hardly know at all. We were supposed to walk for about an hour and finish up at an eating place for lunch.
Quite a nice cafe style place for lunch with three separate eating areas with same menu; outside area, inside conservatory and inside restaurant.
No dogs allowed in restaurant area but staff quite happy for dogs to stay with you in other areas.
Friends decided to eat in restaurant area even though they knew I couldn't bring my dog in with me.
What would you have done?
1. Tied dog up outside, where you couldn't see him and risk him, or you, getting anxious, and sit and eat with friends.
2. Eat on your own in another area.
3. Go home.
Just wonder what others think.

Either 2 or 3 for me. There's no way I'd ever leave my dog tied up outside anywhere. They knew you had your dog with you - surely they could just have chosen to eat in one of the areas where dogs were allowed? They are in the wrong, not you. Good friends would want everyone to be included.

1. Left the dog at home if no one else was taking a dog
OR
2. Make my apologies and go home with my dog.

2 or 3

I don’t own a dog, but lots of friends and family do. I would never expect anyone who I was out walking with to be left out if they couldn’t take their dog in!
I’d eat in the area offered or look for find new friends!

Number 3 for me with no apologies for leaving.

Not very nice friends then, I would have sat on my own with my lovely dog.

Passive aggressive ?? Moi??

3!
How rude of them!

Nannylovesshopping Sat 22-Oct-22 13:30:00

3, rudeness on quite a nasty level!

Zoejory Sat 22-Oct-22 13:30:36

I'd have tossed my hair and spun on my heel as I walked off with my beautiful, gorgeous, loyal dog

Daisymae Sat 22-Oct-22 13:30:57

3. That was very unfriendly. There were lots of options. What did you do?

I don't care if I eat. No worries about food.

I'd be unhappy others were rude, and looking for new friends.

I think it was ride and unkind of them to leave you out when there was other inside eating areas where you could all go and you could keep your dog with you. If they didn't all want to sit in the conservatory I would be surprized if no one offered to sit with you. I think I would probably have eaten alone but would have preferred to just go home.

Very inconsiderate of them.

I’d have done the same as oops, and sat in the conservatory, which I hope the friends could see from the restaurant. ?

What did you do Grannyrose15?

BrightandBreezy Sat 22-Oct-22 13:36:34

Rude not ride ?

BrightandBreezy Sat 22-Oct-22 13:37:58

I am especially surprized that the people you knew well didn't sit with you.

FannyCornforth Sat 22-Oct-22 13:38:33

3.
I would have really wanted to go home too

Blossoming Sat 22-Oct-22 13:38:54

3. It was incredibly rude of them not to eat in the conservatory with you and dog.

FannyCornforth Sat 22-Oct-22 13:40:29

I would have expected at least one of them to say that they’d eat with you.
I would not be bothering with them again

GrannyRose15 Sat 22-Oct-22 13:47:53

Oh, I do love gransnet! Thanks for your support.

I came home.

aggie Sat 22-Oct-22 13:54:57

I’m not a doggy person , but I would have sat with you and cast bad karma after the rest !

mokryna Sat 22-Oct-22 13:56:18

How rude of them Granyrose15 . You did the right thing. Have they been back in touch with you?

FannyCornforth Sat 22-Oct-22 13:59:53

Good for you Rose!

Calendargirl Sat 22-Oct-22 14:04:35

I’m not a dog person, and prefer to eat where there are none around.

However, in this case;

Were you the only one who took your dog? If so, did you ask if it was a dog friendly eating place, and did others mind your dog being with them? It sounds like there were no others, else surely they would have sat with you.
As I say, I’m not a dog lover, but would have felt bad seeing you sitting alone, so I think I would have said something, and suggested sitting elsewhere.
