That’s a gorgeous tree BA thanks for the picture
Sounds like you had a good day Ann and got on well with your shopping and Christmas preparations

Good afternoon kitcheners. The boys are just away home. It's been a good day and we played lots. Dgs1 was at nursery and was tired when he came home so cooried in with grandma while dgs2 napped. Dgs2 isn't well. He's heavy eyed and coughing a lot. It could be teething or a virus which they're prone to at this time of year. Annsixty that sounds like a lovely day. Brook at least your swimsuit was still there! I have to tidy up the mayhem before dinner but I need a breather first. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Lovely tree BladeAnnie

GrannyGravy13 Mon 05-Dec-22 17:31:58

Beautiful tree BladeAnnie 🎄

We chose our tree this afternoon it’s now standing in a bucket of water outside ready to be brought in and decorated (assaulted) by The Imp and his brother tomorrow. I will rearrange the tree when the 7yr old is in bed 🤣🤣 #badgran

I shall leave one of my mince pies on the side 🤶

Soop the prevaricating bedtime child was up again at 6:10am! I’d forgotten what that particular time looked like on the clock! grin We went out for breakfast at the garden centre then bought our Christmas tree. I’ve decided to try a potted one, which can be put in the garden and used again next year. It was about twice the price of the equivalent cut tree but if it does two years, we’ll have broken even and maybe it will last even longer. I’ll bring it in and decorate it next week when we’re back from down south.

All my cards have now been posted - that’s early for me but because we have a new address I wanted to get it done asap. This evening I’m wrapping presents to take down to family. I need to pack as well, though I’ve just realised the bags we need are in the garage and I’m not going out there in there temperatures to get them! We can make tidy piles of what we need and get the bags tomorrow.

I feel as though I’m all at sixes and sevens as we had news today of a potentially serious health concern with one of the DD’s. We should find out more next week and I’m desperately hoping it will be at the less-worrying end of the spectrum because the bad news seems relentless right now.

TOYA. Xxx

Those mince pies look yummy. I’ll just snaffle one. Or two! OH and I had an interesting reunion lunch today. It was a meeting of people who had worked at the company where I first met OH. He was a young graduate engineer and I was a secretary. The food was delicious apart from the red cabbage and Brussels sproutssad it was good meeting up with people who we first knew over 40 years ago. I have been watching Simon Schama’s latest series (OH is upstairs watching football) and I highly recommend it. Revisiting 1984 is worrying!

‘Evening All’

Goodness GG13 your mince pies do look fab! Looking at them is fine this year for me - that way they are ‘fat-free’. (Diet). Hey ho.

I rang my elderly friend in Yorkshire today as it’s her birthday (87y). She was the lady who was our neighbour in Málaga and we helped with shopping, plates of dinner and the occasional G&at during the State of Emergency when we couldn’t leave the building except to shop for nine weeks. It was an awful time and we were glad of one another being on our landing. Anyway - it was lovely to chat and she’d been out for lunch with her family. She said moving back was the right decision at her age and being alone out there. She did say she misses all her friends at LWW 🍷 though!

Hoping for the best possible news for your DD SueD 💐

Urmstongran Mon 05-Dec-22 20:42:53

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 05-Dec-22 21:39:57

Hello everyone. I’m enjoying reading your posts and thought I’d contribute. I see that some of the ‘good morning’ thread also post here.
I have a dh, two dd’s and one dgd, as well as 2 dgdogs 😀.
The dg and dgdogs we look after 3 days a week.
Hope SueD gets better news soon. Those mince pies look delicious, Gg13. I’ve not baked anything for years!

Hellogirl1 Mon 05-Dec-22 22:17:37

SueDonim, I do so hope that your daughter gets good news.

dragonfly46 Mon 05-Dec-22 22:29:05

I too hope your DD gets good news SueD.

SueDonim Mon 05-Dec-22 23:20:09

Thank you, everyone. This is such a kind place to be. ❤️

On the more cheerful side, I posted the last of my Christmas cards today - I meant to say that earlier. I wanted to get them off relatively early, to advise people of our change of address. smile

cornergran Mon 05-Dec-22 23:39:12

Thinking of you sued, hoping for good news for you all.

We enjoyed our pre Christmas trip to Wells today. The Bishops Palace is beautifully decorated. There’s a warm feeling about it. A couple of images to share with you.

Sleep well everyone. TOYA

MawtheMerrier Mon 05-Dec-22 23:53:15

💐SueDonim - hoping you get reassuring news

Nannytopsy Tue 06-Dec-22 03:47:19

It’s the middle of the night and DD, DSIL &DGS have just left for the airport. They are off to visit his family in Spain, leaving us with DGD.
Welcome to Grandmachrisy47. Grab a rug and a mince pie.
I shall try to get back to sleep. NNGB

Blossoming Tue 06-Dec-22 11:23:41

Good morning dear Kitcheners. I had a good sleep last night and a lie in this morning. I’m way behind with all your news. Fingers crossed for all awaiting results, diagnoses and news of family members

Grandmabatty Tue 06-Dec-22 12:00:30

Hi there Blossoming. I'm glad you slept well. It's a lottery sometimes, isn't it. Dgs2 is decidedly out of sorts. He's incubating something, coughing, hot, heavy eyed and horrible nappies. It could be teething or a virus. He's very unhappy and is letting me know! Dgs1 is at nursery. My friend had surgery yesterday afternoon and had part of her bowel removed. When she recovers she will have chemo. Hopefully this will give her a bit longer. I'm being guided by poorly boy today. Have a good afternoon kitcheners

annsixty Tue 06-Dec-22 12:53:09

Hello all.
Another very poor sleeper here.
It is certainly an age thing with me.
I have been trying to clear up and have put some presents in Christmas bags , although they are not wrapped, to put round the bottom of the tree.
It is not decorated yet but it look so bare and remarkably dark green and for bidding. I don’t remember it so stark last year.

Grandmabatty I hope your little one is soon feeling better.
I hate them being ill.
Also that your friend has some chance of a longer time with her family.
A good friend of mine whose H has stage 4 cancer and is having radiotherapy at the Christie came to see me a few days ago, really to tell it how it is without him being there.
As it is in or near his throat he cannot eat or drink at all and is tube fed straight into his stomach overnight. What a Christmas they will have as no one likes eating in front of him..

On that awfully dismal thought I will see if my washer has finished it’s job.
I cannot put washing out anymore my shoulders won’t let me so the tumble dryer and the clothes airier it is.

Enjoy what is left of Tuesday if you can.
