Dustyangel story of the bath incident made me laugh oh has had two slips in bath when we have been away luckily never hurt himself thank goodness best one we bought a bath may and he slipped on that sorry to say I couldn't stop laughing 😂.Sounds like you had a lovely day Annsixty.I went out with daughter to watch a amateur production of Calender girls it was very good and lifted my spirit which have been low recently.

Hello all. First thing this morning OH suggested having lunch at a nearby pottery. It’s only about 5 miles away and apart from a wonderful shop, it serves delicious quiche and cake. So that’s what we did. We have to walk through the shop to get back outside so I bought some Christmas wrapping paper, beautiful soap and napkins. Later this afternoon we are taking Milo the cat to the Vet. He has been a bit low over the past few days and I think he might have a fur ball.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 07-Nov-22 16:02:53

Well, that’s a relief! Milo has a fur-ball for which we have been given some special paste. Bill for that paste and the consultation - £50!

Hope you get your hernia sorted very soon.Soop

We had a lovely anniversary lunch at DS1 yesterday,GS1 is slowly getting better but has had a a really bad chest infection and now looks like his brother has it now!
DS has a review at his G.P tomorrow I don’t think he will be going back to work for a while.

Very wet and miserable here a day for staying in.
Have a good evening all.

soop Mon 07-Nov-22 16:48:17

An afternoon spent trying to get info' about what steps to take regarding hernia. The local nurses say that they are not qualified to deal with the problem. Phoned Oban hospital and stoma nurse said that there is no-one to deal with the prob. Phoned stoma nurse at Royal Alexander hospital in Glasgow. She saw me nine months ago, after the surgery. Voicemail says that she is unavailable until late October. One of those days!

Good afternoon dear kitcheners. A sad day here - DD2s mum-in-law passed away this morning. Hope the dear lady can rest in peace 🌷 TOYA

Blossoming Mon 07-Nov-22 17:11:42

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Sorry for your loss BladeAnnie and sorry you’ve had such a frustrating day Soop.

It’s been very wet and miserable here and I’m finding it hard to get motivated to do a million and one small tasks. I’m just plodding on ….

Grandmabatty Mon 07-Nov-22 18:17:18

Soop hopefully this can be fixed. BladeAnnie that's such sad news for your dil. I have had an up and down day. I looked after dgs2 to let dd get organised for work tomorrow. Then I had an upsetting call from my dearest friend who needs a biopsy done and is going to hospital on Wednesday. She fears the worst after a bout of cancer three years ago. I do too. Anyway no point weeping and wailing until we know for certain. Suffice it to say, I'm rather gloomy tonight. I hope you have a good evening Kitcheners.

‘Evening All’

Sorry to hear of the sad news in the kitchen tonight. My thoughts are with all of you who are anxious about loved ones tonight.

We’ve had a lovely day sat in a very popular buzzy square in Fuengirola. I had oxtail cannelloni for my lunch it was just delicious.

It’s dark here now and a huge cruise ship, lit up like Blackpool illuminations, is sailing along the Mediterranean in the direction of Gibraltar as I type.

Chilly in an evening once the sun disappears so I’m putting on trousers, a tee and my denim jacket in a few minutes as we’re off downstairs to Pedro’s bar to meet friends from Bolton who also have an apartment in this block. They arrived a couple of hours ago. Just for tapas and Rioja but they’re good people and we always have a laugh together when we overlap out here.

Urmstongran Mon 07-Nov-22 18:46:24

This afternoon at 3pm. Warm, congenial atmosphere, a glass of Pinot Blush to hand.
Ach, someone has to do it ... I don’t mind taking one for the team.

Grandmabatty Mon 07-Nov-22 18:53:52

Lovely photo Urms. Fuengirola is such a nice place to be. I'm quite jealous.

kittylester Mon 07-Nov-22 18:58:19

Just checking in to see how everyone is.

I do hope you can get someone to help with your hernia soop.

There is an awful lot of sadness in the kitchen tonight. Gentle hugs to everyone.

I have had a lovely afternoon. My oldest friend came round, brought home made carrot cake and we chatted all afternoon. I'm exhausted now but in a happy way.

Blossoming Mon 07-Nov-22 19:00:25

I love seeing your photos Urms, they remind me there is another world out there. Have a lovely evening 🍷🍹

Urmstongran Mon 07-Nov-22 22:31:12

Thank you ladies. xx

An early visit to the kitchen for me today. Tuesday - so delivering my mum's shopping. Thankfully no substitutions from sainsbury's so fingers crossed she'll be nice to me...🤞🤞. soop hoping you've managed to at least speak to someone about your difficulties. Sending a gentle hug for everyone and special thoughts for all who are struggling atm 🌷 TOYA

BladeAnnie and Granmabatty 💐
Urms have a good time with friends .

Grannmarie Tue 08-Nov-22 14:59:48

Thinking of everyone, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. Hope you can have the hernia sorted, Soop.💕🙏

I'm trying hard to shake off my post Covid lethargy...or maybe that's just my default setting these days! So, Sunday I did a park walk with my sisters, Monday I went to the Activate class at the Sports Centre and today I enjoyed Aquafit at the pool. Feeling better for it, its helping my mood which has been a bit low of late.
Our local authority has an over 60s membership for gym, swim, classes etc, for £50 per annum. Great value for £1 a week. I'm just hoping I'll keep it up.

Driving through to DS2 and family this evening, childcare with DGS2 tomorrow, I need to be fit for that! He was absolutely mesmerised by his first fireworks display at Loch Lomond at the weekend, the wee eyes were like saucers!

Best wishes to all celebrating, safe journey/happy holidays to all the travellers. Enjoy your family time. 🥰

soop Tue 08-Nov-22 16:00:21

My message posted two hours ago has vanished. shock

I shall need to recap in order to respond a second time.

First of all, I need to empty the washing machine.

Grannmarie I am impressed with all your efforts to shake of the Covid lethargy. Well done! flowers

BladeAnnie Sending good vibes to your Mum. She has a fine, caring daughter. smile

Urms Beautiful uplifting photos. Thank you. x

kitty I am very fond of carrot cake. wink

Stoma nurse from Royal Victoria just the minute phoned. She has tried to contact the nurse who has dealt with me previously at the Vale of Leven. She left her a message to contact me asap. She also confirms that there is no stoma nurse in Kintyre or Lochgilphead or Oban hospitals. hmm

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 08-Nov-22 16:48:37

Well, the new lounge curtains are up. Green and gold. The hardest bit was gathering up the heading tape for the bay window curtains, which are two and a half widths each. Bangers and mash for dinner. Have a good evening everyone.

soop Tue 08-Nov-22 16:53:36

Ladyleftfieldlover Us lot want to see a photo of the curtains.
Wish that I could join you for bangers and mash. Such a sensible autumnal supper.

Logging off for today. Sending all good wishes to all our Kitcheners. Including gentle hugs for those who need them.

Good evening dear Kitcheners, it’s been a dark gloomy day here and it’s left me in a dark gloomy mood! I will get over it.

I have done lots of Gaelic practice and lots of family history research. Once I go down those rabbit holes my day just disappears. I must go get a shower before tea, maybe it will wake me up a bit! Cheese on toast tonight. Some lovely farmhouse Lancashire on thick wholemeal bread.

Grandmabatty Tue 08-Nov-22 17:20:23

I am only just sitting down after a full on day of child care. Oh my goodness, it's harder with two! It'll get easier as they get bigger. Dgs1 told his entire nursery that grandma was picking him up. He was very excited. Dgs2 refused to nap much in the afternoon and screamed for a while. It's a trick he's good at. He was fine when I took him from his cot. My living room is absolute chaos and I have to summon the energy to tidy before I have dinner. I hope you are all well and that you have a good evening Kitcheners.

brook2704 Tue 08-Nov-22 18:26:19

Hello all my kitchen pals, we’re here in sunny Alicante after a really good trip from Glasgow yesterday, everything on time and no problems. The weather has been really warm today, sunny and about 22º so we went for a walk along the promenade and sat with a glass of wine watching the world go by. We’ve got a little Airbnb apartment here in the centre of the old town and the picture shows our lovely view from the window - There’s a square nearby with some really beautiful old ficus trees - really amazing to see!
Im not up to date with the kitchen news so I’ll just say that I hope everyone is doing ok and TOYA

Urmstongran Tue 08-Nov-22 18:30:51

‘Evening All’

Oh soop I hope you get sorted soon. It must be very tiring sorting out this yourself. We can all remember (sadly) the days our family doctors would be dealing with this.

I’ve had a lovely afternoon with my ladies (who wine). It’s my favourite afternoon of the week. But don’t tell Himself. I’d hate to hurt his feelings.
😮

LLFL I’m in awe of anyone who can do anything curtain-wise. I bet your new ones look stunning. Please share.

Grandmabatty you sound the loveliest of grandmas. Bar none. Put your feet up now lady and have a rest till next Monday.

We are sat on our little balcony. Windows closed but no heat needed. I’m in a tee shirt now and soft trousers. Listening to a CD bought years ago on La Carihuela playing ‘Guantanamera’ which was a hit when I came out here mid 60’s for a holiday with my parents and sister. Do you remember it?

Easy meal tonight of rotisserie chicken and salad. Ooh nice, Himself has just poured me a cava and waiting for a run down of this afternoon. I shall tell him most of it of course but some things are not for sharing. You will all understand of course. It’s why we have ‘ladies only’ gatherings occasionally isn’t it?

Urmstongran Tue 08-Nov-22 18:33:53
