I’d stand well back.

Paperweights? Ceramic egg cups? Bunch of keys?

If this is for a baby all things should be washable, chewable, lightweight and SAFE.

My brother and I would have found a glass paperweight a handy weapon grin

Didn’t I see you on Midsomer Murders?

No idea what this means.

I'm sorry fluttERBY123 but I really am not at all sure what you mean.

Treasure baskets are great - ours currently has a wooden and a metal spoon, some textured crocheted shapes, a smooth pebble an empty plastic bottle with coloured rice and a couple of wooden eggs. We change the contents every now and then and explore the basket with our GD rather than 'standing back'.

on where today ?
please do not give anything to babies or young children to play with which does not comply with the toy safety regs.
there re many potential hazards, not only with non-compliant toys, but also child-appealing items.

There’s a link to a Mumsnet feature on best toys for babies in today’s Gransnet newsletter.

You can get some lovely wooden toys for babies now - and they don't have to be expensive. Aldi quite often sell wooden toys and they're not only really nice, but really reasonable too. I'm not sure how many of today's parents would be very happy with their little ones playing with glass paperweights or anything ceramic.

Glass paperweights for babies?
What could possibly go wrong?

Some nice toys for babies on here today - but all plastic as far as I can see. We also had a treasure basket with things of all different materials and weights. They all felt different and smelt different as well. A glass paperweight, a wooden brick, bunch of keys, old leather purse, ceramic egg cup. I could go on. This for once baby can sit up or be propped up. Put it next to them and stand back.
