Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry here in brackley this morning.
Yesterdays hospital appointments had a few mishaps , I went to the pre op hopefully for blood test , but unable to, I was directed to the path lab , where eventually they got the bllod mainly through my hands , was advised to eat plenty of beetroot as its good for the blood , I then went to the outpatients for my Glaucoma check ,again part done as photo was taken but due to a computer breakdown not possible to do field test .
Today , usual day shop in Bicester using the bus and having my usual cafe stop for a sarnie of bacon and egg .
Then return home .
Take Care,
Mick

A quick good morning all as DGd day today and car has to be in for MoT. Fingers crossed for your DGs Ash I know how worried you must feel. Definitely stand firm grandMattie you’ve been a saint. Hope you get sorted soon Mick and wishing everyone a good day.

BlueBalou Wed 09-Nov-22 07:46:13

Good morning everyone, it’s a damp start here in Wiltshire.
Off to the dentist and hygienist shortly, that’ll be £82 for not-a-lot (NHS) - I was only a couple of minutes in the dentist bit last time, he couldn’t have been less perfunctory.
Then I am popping back into the jewellers to ask about putting pendants on a couple of chains: the jump rings won’t go through them 🙄. It’s a fabulous little jewellers so I must avoid temptation 😊
I hope your DGS is out of hospital quickly Ash, how worrying. And congratulations to your DD!
Take care everyone x

Greyduster Wed 09-Nov-22 07:50:34

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Well the dawn has not exactly come up like thunder here in South Yorkshire but hoping it will at least stay dry. Ash I hope your grandson improves and you continue to feel stronger! I put cleaning solution in my washing machine yesterday, set the programme and walked away only to come back to the utility room full of suds puthering out of the soap dispenser and crawling their way across the floor like some alien thing! So I had to stand over the wretched thing trying to turn the tide like King Canute! That has never happened before. Paperwork to sort out today, a phone call to make to a friend, and hopefully, like Jax, a trip to the library this afternoon if there is time.
Have the best day you can folks!

Grandmabatty Wed 09-Nov-22 07:57:10

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° with blue skies. Ash I hope your dgs is ok. Congratulations to your daughter. Urms and Brook you are whetting my appetite for warm days. Sadly not to be on central Scotland just now!
Grannygravy I've never been found of lamb, I don't know why. You enjoy your meal.
Yesterday was hard work! Looking after two small children is not for wimps. Dgs1 was super excited to see me in the morning and was whirling about like a dervish, "Look at me grandma! See my big truck!" Then thousands of questions about was I picking him up, when would mummy be home etc. However that was manageable compared to the hooligan that is his baby brother! He was into everything, cupboards, sockets, radiators, wires of every description, bookcase, TV unit, you name it. The cupboard locks are ordered now. He also doesn't like being put in the car seat not the buggy. He's a free spirit, this one. I was exhausted by the time I dropped them home. On the plus side, he is a happy giggly boy most of the time. He is a very good eater and had a two hour nap. I just have to get back into a routine. It was definitely a shock to my system.
Today I'll visit mum. My friend, who I normally visit on Wednesday, is in hospital having a biopsy done so I'll be thinking of her. This afternoon will be spent quietly pottering. Roasted gnocchi, chorizo and assorted veg in a sheet pan dinner with balsamic vinegar glaze for later. Have a good day all.

Marydoll Wed 09-Nov-22 07:59:18

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it's 8°.

Glad to hear that you are making good progress Ash and hoping that you get better news of your DGS today.

Mick, I usually say at the start to the phlebotomist, to expect to take from my hands. It saves looking like a pincushion. I think many of us find ourselves with reluctant veins, as we get older.
My blood letting appointment tomorrow has been specifically booked with the only person, who can manage it, for that very reason.

I have no plans for today, just some gentle foutering about. The PP is still very unwell, but his housekeeper is in charge today, so I have a day off.
It's good to hear of so many out and about. brook a wander around the local food market on holiday, is one of my favourite activities

Yesterday, yet another holiday has been cancelled. We were going to Pitlochry in February with DD and SIL, but they have been invited to a wedding in Dublin, that very week and we don't fancy going on our own. They are such good company.

Wishing you all the best of days.

cornergran Wed 09-Nov-22 08:03:15

Morning Mick, morning All. The clouds look lighter, should be a drier day ahead.

A good catch up with our friends yesterday was followed by a call from one of ours to tell me about a car accident in driving rain. He’s fine - or so he said - the car isn’t and won’t be. Police attending were more than kind and helped him on the first few of many miles back home. It’s not what happened it’s what might have been that has disturbed me. He drives all over the country for work.

Out for some air and exercise today. Both have been a bit lacking.

Your appointments weren’t that easy mick. Goodness grandMattie, there are some thoughtless people invading your home. Please hold firm, a need for someone else to take over now. Go gently ash, slow and steady will get you there.

Must be off. Mr C is keen to be out and about. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Gingster Wed 09-Nov-22 08:08:43

Good morning all and it’s very damp here in Essex. Dh plans to go fishing but won’t if it’s too wet!

Yesterday was lovely with my old school pals, and our trip down memory lane, but the weather was atrocious so we couldnt walk around too much. Never mind we had a great day!

Dd has an appointment this morning and all the family have colds/tonsillitis and are off college/school, so I will be looking after little Dg for a few hours. (Just heard Dd won’t be going to appointment - they’re all too poorly! ) . I’ll see if there’s anything I can do 🤔.

GM you sound really fed up. ! Your house is not your own! Stand firm and explain ‘you’ve had enough’ . You’ve done more than your bit. Let someone else take over.

Ash take it easy and try not to worry about little gs. I’m sure they will sort him out. !

Annoying for you and your appointments Mick.

Have a lovely break away Brook 🌝

Wishing you all a ‘good’ day

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 09-Nov-22 08:23:19

Good morning from a wet (but the sun is trying to come out) Oxfordshire. 6 degrees of cold and wetness….
Goodness GM I admire your patience, but you sound as though the end of your tether has been reached, why am I not surprised that none of your DLs friends have offered to help?

Mick hopefully the Hospital will be able to salvage something from your messed up appointments, I love beetroot, hope you do too!
Bonfire night in our Village was incredibly noisy, it’s the first time in 24 years that we have had ‘local’ bonfire parties over 3 nights and unfortunately we had MissOops dog with us. To say she freaked out would be an understatement. So Nephew collected her on Sunday evening and took her back home.
She back came over yesterday and refused to stay with us, she wanted to stay in the car and then rushed the door each time it opened, so she has gone back home with Nephew and is fine.
So now MissOops is determined to go home on Friday, she has been with us for just over 4 weeks and is a delight, but now her much loved pet won’t stay with us she needs to be home.
Last year she was here for 3 months as she had so many problems post op and had a house with stairs so wasn’t able to use the bathroom, Bungalows are much easier! and it will be nice for us to get the house back to normal, I’ve been very lazy whilst she has been here. #anotherlazygran here tooUrms
Ash hope the little one is soon at home and bouncing around. Marydoll hope your enforced rest is helping.

Hope everyone manages to have a good day today and finds some sunshine.

EkwaNimitee Wed 09-Nov-22 08:25:44

Good morning Mick and everyone from brightish Carlisle. I suspect it will be another day like yesterday...glints of sun now and then and frequent prolonged heavy showers. I stayed in again, frustrated.
This morning I shall polish off the ironing and probably wipe floors and that will be that in the housework department, I have plenty of more interesting things to occupy me. If I can get out in the garden, I will but am not optimistic.
I am now all prepared for a very cold winter, a parcel of fleecy things arrived yesterday! Hate feeling cold. Hate feeling hot.
I have a limited range of happy operating temperatures.

I hope you find at least a few minutes to get away from people and put your feet up, literally, grandMattie, to try and relax mentally and physically. Which isn't easy if you are under pressure.

Daily improvements for you, I hope Ash.

And wishing all a pleasant day.

baubles Wed 09-Nov-22 08:31:36

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s another damp day.

Pity about your appointments Mick, I find that some people are so much better at drawing blood than others.

I’m just a little envious of those of you enjoying the Spanish sun, enjoy every moment. ☀️

Congratulations to your DD Ash and I hope your DGS gets well soon.

At my appointment yesterday my nurse was delighted with my progress, she is so lovely. There are only two stoma nurses in the hospital and they have looked after me from day one. I’m so grateful to them.

A day at home cooking and crocheting for me. DH is helping DSIL put up velux window blinds so I’ll have an empty.

Have the best day possible everyone.

BlueSapphire Wed 09-Nov-22 08:38:00

My second attempt at writing this - the cat walked over my Kindle Fire and I lost it all!

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, set to be dry and fine for the rest of the day. It stayed mostly fine for our health walk yesterday; just a very brief squally shower which my new coat weathered well. Had the sad news on the walk yesterday that a friend has been diagnosed with cancer, no prognosis yet, more tests are needed.

Have a short walk out this morning with three neighbours to an ex-neighbour 's house for coffee; she now lives 10 minutes walk away. No doubt we shall spend a couple of hours eating cake and putting the world to rights.

Then this afternoon I hope to get to the well-being cafe; I need to see the elderly lady I am knitting for to get the sleeve length right on her cardigan

Happy Wednesday everyone.

monk08 Wed 09-Nov-22 08:54:46

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Mixed news for you Ash 🤞for a speedy recovery of your DSG and congratulations on your DD success.
grandMattie I second Urms you've gone above and beyond stand firm.
Nursery pick up today then off to do some shopping.
Heating playing up again so its another visit from the engineer tomorrow.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some 🌞.

hulahoop Wed 09-Nov-22 09:01:09

It's another bright day here in West York's.Gm you sound tired and at the end of your tether ,stand firm and stick to the agreeement. Ash hope your grandson is quickly sorted, lovely news from your Dd .Baubles sounds like you have good support.Ekwa* since chemo I am painfully cold at times I am permanently wrapped up.

Taichinan Wed 09-Nov-22 09:08:49

Good morning all from the Angus coast. This morning we had a full moon reflecting a rosy sunrise in a clear blue sky - so beautiful, and so fleeting.
I can only assume that none of DL's friends has a house with a downstairs bedroom and loo as you have grandmattie? It is very difficult having someone staying with you for a long time like that - and with all her visitors she does seem to be taking advantage of you rather.
Well done Ash being 'up and running' like that. I hope your little DGS is alright now, and many congratulations to your DD.
Enjoy your travels around Spain Brook.
I had news yesterday of the passing away of another friend. She was in her mid-70s - far too young. The group I knew her through meets up for lunch to celebrate each others birthdays so we are meeting in remembrance on hers in three weeks' time.
I suppose this is a feature of our later years, sadly.
Now I must head for the shower and some clothes, ready to hang out the washing (the towels all dried in the wind and showers yesterday, so 🤞for today!)
Enjoy all your doings today x

Auntieflo Wed 09-Nov-22 09:09:15

Good morning Mick, Annie (where are you?) and all.
Sorry you had bad experiences at your appointments Mick.

It's fine and bright here at the moment 🤞 it stays that way.

I have a blood test appointment later on, and will try and see if one of the opticians in town can take a look at my sore eye. It has been bothering me since Sunday, but I can see nothing there myself.
Had a bad coughing fit in the night and kept DH disturbed.
GrandMattie, you can see that all the GN's are behind you in saying " enough is enough". Notice should be given with a definite date for the DL to go elsewhere now. Though it is easier said than done.
Glad to hear that Ash is coming along nicely. Well done.
GrannyGravy, your lamb chop dinner sounds just the ticket and I'm sure we have some in the freezer, so I will go and rummage for them.

Sorry to hear about the accident, Cornergran but glad that he is alright.
Marydoll , shame that a holiday has to be cancelled, but take it easy with the parish work.
Thinking of all who may need a bit of a boost.
Have a good day one and all.

Stilllearning Wed 09-Nov-22 09:15:12

Good morning from ‘dry for the moment’ S Lanarkshire.

Glad to hear things are improving for you Ash and congratulations on your daughter’s success. Hopefully better news soon about your DGS.

Glad to hear about your progress too baubles

My (small) garden is full of workmen and machinery at the moment. I have been intending to get a new path laid from my gate to my garden room ever since it was built last year. A couple of weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet and get on with it and somehow in the course of discussing what I wanted with the garden man, it became a much bigger job. I do hope I’ve got this right and also that no daughters arrive unexpectedly until it is finished!

Wishing everyone a good day🦩🦩🦩

Nannagarra Wed 09-Nov-22 09:19:07

Good morning from Sefton by the sea.
A trip to the nail bar, selecting internal doors and picking up the DGC are on my agenda today.
I hope your next appointment goes more smoothly, Mick, and that everyone has a very pleasant Wednesday.

harrigran Wed 09-Nov-22 09:30:48

Good morning from a cloudy NE.
I looked out of the window at 6am and there was a bright full moon in a cloudless sky, clouds came with the dawn.
Worrying news about your GS Ashcombe, hopefully they will get a diagnosis and treatment promptly.
Thinking of you grandMattie, stand firm with DL and make sure visitors know too. I feared your good nature may have been abused.
SIL is coming this morning and we will go grocery shopping, no idea what to feed the family at the weekend. DS is lactose intolerant so I have to tread carefully, at least I don't have to cook a vegetarian/vegan alternative this week.
baubles good to hear you have support from your stoma nurses, I have only seen a nurse a few times in the six years since my operation. They appear to be as rare as hen's teeth.
Have a good day everyone.

aggie Wed 09-Nov-22 09:58:42

Good morning everyone, that sounds like an ordeal yesterday Mick !
Lovely morning here , I’m off to the Village club now
gM you’re being taken advantage of , it’s really maddening to find your kitchen stuff rearranged! Give your lodger notice , maybe speak to her social worker ?

luluaugust Wed 09-Nov-22 09:59:12

Good morning all from W Kent. DF coming this morning for coffee and to show DH her house survey report. To buy or not to buy that is the question of the day.
Grandmabatty asked DH if we came by Polmont on our way to Perth and he said yes and he visited in 1958 to photograph locos that were being stored there!!
Mick I hope you are contacted soon regarding the rest of the tests.
Ash glad you managed a walk however short and best wishes for your GC
gM you sound far to busy, I think you need to corner one of DL's good friends and have a word.
Best wishes to all.

Kalu Wed 09-Nov-22 10:01:31

Good morning all from a sunny start to the day in Glasgow.

I always enjoyed visiting markets abroad Brook and once the shopping was done, sitting at a pavement cave watching the world go by is the perfect start to relax and chill out.
So pleased to hear of your progress Baubles
Too much excitement going on with you now kitty Steady on!
Pleased you are progressing well Ash. Hoping DGS is well soon.

Looking forward to meeting up with two friends for coffee later, a pastime which keeps the three of us sane as we leave our worries at home. Lots of blethering and laughs is such good medicine.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Ziplok Wed 09-Nov-22 10:02:59

Good morning
Sounds a bit chaotic at the hospital yesterday mick. Have they rearranged so they can do the things they couldn’t do yesterday?
A brighter and calmer morning here, if a bit cool. We had some torrential cloudbursts yesterday pm. Luckily I was indoors at the time.
Haven’t read all the posts, will come back later to read them.
Hope today is as good as it can be.

Nannagarra Wed 09-Nov-22 10:05:12

Having now read all the posts I’m another encouraging you to be unequivocal with your DL grandMattie. Until the established date for her leaving you arrives, could you encourage each visitor to take her out for some fresh air rather than sit in your house? The ramp is your friend.
Puthering. What a wonderful word Greyduster; I’ll add it to nithering (c/o my friend from Yorkshire)!

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 09-Nov-22 10:13:37

Good morning all from cloudy Harrogate
Doesn’t give you confidence Mick being messed about like that, but it’s done now. Sorry about your DGS Ash but good news about your DD.
I’m on the bus to Knaresborough market just now, mainly because there’s a shop there that refills Ecover dishwashing liquid. Might just meet up with DD as well. Knaresborough has a knitted poppy display, so will go and have a look, one of my friends has contributed quite a few.
Had to say it GrandMattie but think your DL has seen you as a soft touch, so you should stick to your guns.
Have the best day possible folks

hollysteers Wed 09-Nov-22 10:26:05

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Very nice meeting at music club yesterday, a good variety of pieces and the bagpipes returned! He has to stand a little distance from us. Reminded of the joke that the bagpipes originated in Ireland, but they quickly realised they were not a musical instrument and handed them over to the Scots…

Lunchtime recital today, then pick up contact lenses. These are replacements as the original order will not arrive until the end of the year and I ordered them a long time ago. Second time it’s happened. Not sure if it’s Brexit or drivers or what.
Sorry your appointments were a mess Mick. Apparently Madonna left this country because she couldn’t cope with our inefficiency (not that I miss her).
grandMattie enough is enough. Visitors last three days with me and that’s it.
