Good morning from a dryish E Kent. The temperatures have dropped considerably in the last few days and with the humidity, it feels a lot colder.
My Spanish lesson went well. I took some baking for the break as usual - this time it was a spiced ginger tray bake.
I rested most of the afternoon and feel less tired.
DL had the nurse visit to give her both the flu and covid jabs. She is a bit.of a drama Queen and said she felt terrible. Her appetite doesn’t seem to have been affected. Miaow.
Even quieter today. I must go to the lovely local shoes shop to see if I can get footwear other than trainers in which I can fit the orthotics I received the other day.
Hope everyone has managed a restful night, has a gentle and contented day. Carpe diem. 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick and all who follow from South Lanarkshire where it’s dark but I don’t hear any rain or wind.

Sounds like you had a good day Mick.

Yesterday we had vile weather in the capital and we had to take the children out of the house for a while as there were engineers installing broadband and DDoutLaw had a teams meeting so it was all a bit manic. Soft play wasn’t much better!

Work today the this evening we are going to see Paul Jones and the Manfreds. We last saw them ten years ago and they were so good but I really didn’t think they’d still be touring at this point.

Sending good vibes to all who are poorly or feeling under par for any reason.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a hopefully dry corner of Somerset

Yesterday didn’t quite go to plan as development issues interfered - again. Memo to self, never, ever offer to take responsibility for anything again as it’s bound to cause sleepless nights and aggravation. Other than that a decent enough day grin.

Meeting friends today for a walk around an animal park. Haven’t seen them at all this year, not sure how that happened.

Pleased you enjoyed your day mick.

Take care everyone. Special thoughts to those finding life is like running up a sand hill, just get to the top and then slide back down again. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s still dark. Dry though. Looks chilly out. We’ve decided to call Fridays ‘Freedom Friday’ and have a run out somewhere with no family ‘doings’ at either end of the spectrum. We might arrange to see friends - I’ve sorted out a week today to try to reinforce the idea!

Anyway mid morning we plan a run out to a very popular garden centre in Glazebrook, near Warrington. I could buy some Christmas cards, have a mooch (no garden here so no need of plants ha!) but they do have a fabulous selection of household stuff and gifts. And a great cafe. Not been since pre Covid so I’m looking forward to it.

Have a good Friday yourselves. x

P.s the 6:30am train going to Liverpool Lime Street has just pulled into Platform 2. Thinking of you amselerin with little Waldi. It’s been a long time since you posted from Germany.
😊

P.p.s. Where’s Pantglas these days? She’ll be sipping out of that chamberpot now I expect.

BlueSapphire Fri 18-Nov-22 06:46:14

An earlier good morning from Northampton where it is still too dark to see what the weather is like but I am led to believe we shall see the sun today.

Yesterday turned out to be a bit of a disaster as due to bus problems and a misunderstanding I did not get to either of my dance classes. I decided however to take advantage of an empty afternoon by popping to Sainsbury's to pick up a clothes order. Was back in time for my Sainsbury's delivery - and they had everything I needed to start my cake in preparation for baking this afternoon. The fruit and sugar have been soaking in orange juice and strong tea overnight.

Off down to our local retail park this morning, coffee and a snack in M&S, then a mooch round the shops. Cake making this afternoon. Must try on the clothes I picked up yesterday, then I can return if necessary this morning.

Glad you had a nice day yesterday Mick; I am on a coach trip tomorrow to Winchester Christmas market.

Wishing all a pleasant Friday.

Grandmadinosaur Fri 18-Nov-22 07:02:43

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s still dark and damp after yesterdays continual rain.

It’s our GDs 1st birthday today. Where did that year go! After the worries of her birth she is a lovely, thriving little girl and I can just tell she is going to rule the roost. This morning we are going to pick up a birthday balloon for her. Then we will go for coffee at one of my favourite places. No cake though as we will be having that later. We are all going out to eat at a nearby pub with a play area for the children.

Happy birthday too to Dollie * Marydoll* 🎂
I like that sentiment about climbing up the sand hill cornergran I know that feeling well.

Have a good day everyone.

Ashcombe Fri 18-Nov-22 07:09:45

Good morning from a fine but chilly Torbay.

Yesterday I felt more like my usual self so I think the antibiotic is working its magic along with making me nap quite a lot. I’m finding joy in the little tasks I can safely do, like folding socks or washing glasses! olddudders is pleased to see his DW returning to something approaching normal but is good at stopping me from overdoing it.

It's lovely to read of your ‘normal’ out and about activities, Christmas trips, etc especially with the touches of humour. Your aside about DL's appetite was a classic, grandMattie!!

I hope you can all find something to make you smile today. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Gingster Fri 18-Nov-22 07:11:09

Good morning all .
Thanks to all of you who sent good wishes for my DD.💕
It was a long day waiting for the doctor to call. She didn’t go into hospital in the end but the prescription they sent to her doctor never materialised at the pharmacy. Emergency meds were given at 6.30 last evening with a promise the rest would be there this morning. I hope she’s had a good night. I’m waiting for a call. You just feel there’s no one to help you.😥.

I’ve seen a few houses with Christmas trees up and lights outside twinkling. Seems to get earlier each year. 🎄.

We will hopefully get to see our Friday friends at lunchtime. Wait and see how Dd is.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.
🌺

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s not raining yet but it was a horrid day yesterday.

This morning I have zoom yoga and a pile of ironing. This afternoon we have a meeting with the accountant and sign the papers for the tax for January. Once all the family chat is out of the way my eyes usually glaze over.
I have to take mum to her surgery to have a steroid injection in her knee because nothing else has worked to ease it.

Have a good day everyone enjoy your trips out and safe journeys. Hoping those not feeling well have some respite today. 🌻🌻

Wyllow3 Fri 18-Nov-22 07:17:42

Morning all from an overcast S Yorks.

(looks like todays promised blue sky might be a ?)

Great day yesterday, Mick and a justified miaow GM.

" finding life is like running up a sand hill, just get to the top and then slide back down again."

True today I' afraid. I'm just getting on well with counselling for abusive husband/fall out but bowel problems confirmed yesterday at GP's - I've had 3 ops previously. First we are ruling out unlikely 2 week nasties, then trying to tackle results of adhesions in the area with uncertain outcomes that have me swelled up, and CFS stops me doing a lot.

Determined to make it at least to the gym, its company as well as exercise.

Is is your birthday, Marydoll? If so, have the best possible in the circs.

May today be best possible all, enjoy shoppings and family and garden centres.

ShazzaKanazza Fri 18-Nov-22 07:18:03

Happy birthday to your gorgeous little DGDs Grandmadinosaur and Marydoll 🎉🎉

Marydoll Fri 18-Nov-22 07:22:08

Morning all from a rainy Glasgow, where its currently 8°C. At least it's warmer than yesterday.
DH is golfing, so the house will be full of wet golf gear. 😞

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip, Mick.

I've had a night of night terrors and am a bit discombobulated this morning, accompanied by a blinding headache!
However, I do need to go out.
My friend's wife is now off the ventilator, but still very unwell.
He is duty sacristan this morning and I got the feeling last night, that he is overwhelmed by everything which is happening, but he still insists on fulfilling his duties. Hospital visiting times are limited and I think he is trying to keep busy.

There has been a last minute change of service this morning, due to the young assistant priest being called elsewhere and the PP still very unwell.
There was no way of advising the parishioners, so I'm going down to take the flak and take the pressure off my friend.
My experience in the Teaching Diplomatic Service ( fending off angry parents) has served me well. 😉 I am the designated negotiator, when dealing with the usual group of complaining parishioners.
I did text a few regulars last night, in the hope they can spread the word.

Today is Dollie's 7th birthday and we are going to their house for dinner. I don't know who is more excited, she or us!!!

Hoping to hear Ash is still improving and how *brook's visit went yesterday.
Special birthday greetings to Grandmadinosaur's granddaughter.🎂🎁🎈

Have a good day, whatever your plans.
Good luck dealing with your drama queen, GM. I felt awful for days after getting both jags at the same time! Forewarned is forearmed. 😉

GrannyGravy13 Fri 18-Nov-22 07:23:41

Morning all

Yesterdays Christmas shopping was successful, I kn,y have a few more gifts to buy, yippee!! Will wrap tomorrow afternoon.

Off to the gym first thing, pick up The Imp from pre-school at lunchtime so a busy afternoon until DD gets home from work.
Off to our favourite Thai restaurant this evening, I think I will have Tom Yum soup for starter then probably red snapper for main.

(((Hugs to all in need)))

Have your best Friday folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

karmalady Fri 18-Nov-22 07:28:42

Good morning and it may well be a sparkly day today. I do feel like lighting the fire at times now but am holding off, fires=cleaning

I read about hopes and problems and ill health and nice times on here, wishing you all well

Bara brith from an ancient cranks recipe book was gorgeous, the wholemeal flour made it substantial. I sliced them as soon as cold and into the freezer, out of sight. A definite to make again.

Susan56 Fri 18-Nov-22 07:31:09

Good morning from Shropshire.

Happy birthday to Dollie and Grandmadinosaur’s little granddaughter🥳🎂Wow!that year has gone quickly!
Our DGD will be 7 on Sunday too Mary.

Wyllow 💐

Gingster thinking of your daughter and your family. You really have had so much worry💐

Glad you are on the mend Ash.

Another day of childcare today.Yesterday turned into a hectic day so a day at home today.

Thinking of all coping with illness, stresses and worries.

BlueBalou Fri 18-Nov-22 07:32:59

Good morning everyone, it’s looking drier here in Wiltshire, clear skies, so maybe a less soggy DDog walk this morning 😊
We’re going to do a walk I have only done once before, down into the valley and a long haul back up (that’ll be fun 🙄😄)
Then I have ironing to do and various bits and pieces to finish doing.
Marydoll good luck with the Diplomatic role!
I hope you all have a lovely day x

Kalu Fri 18-Nov-22 07:34:09

Good or king all from Glasgow where it is still dark outside but dry.

I am off shortly to take my car for a service and have booked a courtesy car as I have a busy day ahead. GP appointment later for a check followed by a dental check up then both of us are having our jags at 5.00. Phew!

Happy Birthday to dollie and to Grandmadinosaur’s GD too. Enjoy your special day girls. 🎂🎉🛍.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Kalu Fri 18-Nov-22 07:35:13

Nothing to do with the king!😂 - good morning.

Gala Fri 18-Nov-22 07:44:46

Good morning from a gloomy & overcast Sefton. Still damp underfoot from yesterday's downpour but not actually raining.

Dance exercise class followed by Pilates this morning. A free afternoon but I'm sure there are things I should be doing. But do I want to do them? Hmm. I do need to finish my book!
Oh dear spoke too soon about 'not raining'. It is now lashing down.

Sending positive thoughts to those of you with medical issues & family struggles. ((Hugs)) & 💐.

Grandmabatty Fri 18-Nov-22 07:46:59

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and soggy. Yesterday was unremitting rain all day and evening. Mick I'm glad you enjoyed your day out. Marydoll and Grandmadinosaur happy birthday to your wee granddaughters. Susan I hope your granddaughter has a lovely birthday on Sunday. Dgs2 has his first birthday tomorrow. Where has the year gone? Ashcombe it's good to hear about you getting on with tasks and recovering. grandmattie I'm glad you had a rest.
Yesterday was a very busy childcare day. However dgs2 seems to be settling in. He had a good nap in the morning and ate plenty at lunch, then a shorter nap in the afternoon. So he was a happy wee boy. He is a screamer so thank goodness next door are deaf as he screams when he's upset, angry and happy. I hope once he can talk, he'll grow out of it. Last night I was at a craft class where we were creating on glass lanterns for Christmas. The star decoupage was lovely but my glitter on acetate smudged on the way home so that lantern will be put in my bedroom away from critical eyes.
Today the car is going into the local garage for a service and mot. Fingers crossed it'll be ok. I can walk home as the garage is ten minutes away. Very handy. I'll probably make a loaf and do some baking while I'm carless. Have a good day all.

dragonfly46 Fri 18-Nov-22 07:49:24

Good morning from a dry Leicestershire.

It was NWR National quiz last night and we got all the answers - a first!
NWR lunch today in town and picking up an advent calendar for DGD.

Pleased you are feeling better Ash.

So sorry to hear about your DD gingster I hope she feels better today. I booked a face to face with the GP yesterday but when I got there they had changed the appointment to one with a nurse practitioner!

Happy Birthday Dollie.

Greyduster Fri 18-Nov-22 07:52:34

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where Wyllow has our weather spot on. And it’s colder today. Yesterday did not go particularly well. I got caught up in a job I didn’t particularly want to do, then took myself off to the supermarket and completely forgot I had a hair appointment at midday until my hairdresser texted me. Fortunately, being the sweetie that she is, she got me in very late in the afternoon. It was worth going out in the dark and wet for. Today, my son in law having finally decided what he would like for his birthday, I am off to buy him a present. We are going out to dinner this evening at a very nice local hostelry and I have offered to pay the bill (he’s been so very good to me this year), so if you see me busking with my piano on the high street tomorrow, please be generous!
Have the best day you can, folks.

NannyJan53 Fri 18-Nov-22 07:58:07

Good morning from a slightly brighter Black Country.

A pleasant day yesterday having lunch with Aunt and Mum. My Mums younger sister is only 10 years older than myself, she was widowed in January, but is coping admirably. Still drives at almost 80!

u3a monthly walking group this morning, starting at cafe on an old railway walk.

Meal out tonight for MrJ's DD celebrating gaining her PhD recently.

Wyllow sounds like you have a lot to contend with at the moment. Thinking of you flowers

Happy you are slowly on the mend Ash good job DH is there to slow you down!

Wishing you all a lovely day
