Does doing something remind you of a GN poster?

😁

Every time I look at my phone during the night and ā€˜second guess’ what time it might be I think of Maw as years ago she did a thread on the topic. Whenever I eat a crumpet I think of EllanVannin! And at this time of year I always think of grandMattie who explained why my Christmas candle bridge could stay up until early February and it pleased me because I love it’s comforting soft light and my mum bought it for me.

Do any of you associate actions or things with any of our posters? (Or is it just me? 🤣)

In case that’s not clear FannyCornforth if this thread is used as an excuse to have a pop at posters either still on here or those who have left it’s a poor do.

Oreo - I’m sure urmston knew I was smiling as I posted. We are northern women/girls on opposite sides of any political fence. We’ve been known to disagree but also not to take ourselves too seriously. It’s possible to disagree strongly about some issues without ā€˜having a pop on a light hearted thread’

... it must be because I'm from up North then because I often like Urmstongran's posts (hi Urms!) even tho' we are politically on different sides.

And your mentioning of lemongrove... it seems like GermanShepherdsmum isn't posting now. She and I are also politically divided, but I always got on with her. I hope she's alright and just taking a break from GN... as people do.

I'm curious about the 'gammon' thread and wished I knew what it was about - it sounds fascinating.

Galaxy Mon 21-Nov-22 20:15:09

Oh that explains it, I am Northern too, and have very different politics to Urm but her posts often make me smile.

Aw, absolutely Iam64! 😁
And šŸ‘‹ to you girls Dickens and Galaxy on the opposite side of the political fence!
Life, like GN, isn’t all about politics anyway.
We’d probably all get on like a house on fire (provided we swerved certain topics ha!).

Oreo in Phoenix’s own words,

Mix cut up gammon or ham with cooked Turkey (I leave the chunks quite big so they don't disintegrate), then use condensed mushroom soup to bind it together, season, (a bit of dried sage and black pepper is what I use)

Use frozen puff pastry, line a plate, put filling on, top with pastry, make leaves etc to pretty it up, glaze with beaten egg and cook.

When think of someone really caring, thoughtful and a Christian in the best sense of the word, I think of Ashcombe

JaneJudge Mon 21-Nov-22 20:40:58

Aveline

Ooh am I a 'usual suspect' JaneJudge?

you must be as you keep mentioning them grin you might even be Keyser Sƶze wink

hollysteers Mon 21-Nov-22 20:51:20

When I think of some awkward, confident and with very definite views, I think of M0nica

Urmstongran Mon 21-Nov-22 20:53:06

I do think of varian if I ever hear of or read about ā€˜proportional representation ā€˜.
😁

We have a TKMaxx here within walking distance, at a small retail park. I’ve never been in once over all the years, but nowadays whenever we drive past, I find that Marydoll pops in my head looking for her bargains!

Aveline Mon 21-Nov-22 20:57:10

Keyser Soze??

JaneJudge Mon 21-Nov-22 20:58:19

Aveline, the usual suspects is a film smile I don't really think you are Keyser Sƶze, he is a fictional character

JaneJudge Mon 21-Nov-22 21:00:03

and he also isn't very nice blush but I didn't mean you were not very nice

pass me a spade, I will dig my own hole!

Georgesgran Mon 21-Nov-22 21:05:48

Geordie humour Yammy - thank you. X

Urmstongran Mon 21-Nov-22 21:13:42

That made me laugh JaneJudge!

Aveline Mon 21-Nov-22 21:14:22

Hmmmm

I would rather be known for something more cerebral, Urms!
🤣
Paisley, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayr, Berlin, New York etc., etc., etc.
I do love a bargain. wink

Urmstongran Tue 22-Nov-22 07:34:31

Aw I understand Marydoll but as, out of all those places and your beloved Rome, I’ve only been to Berlin - so it’s TKMaxx I’m afraid that makes me think of you!

Kitty I suddenly thought of Greatnan too recently. We had a jokes thread back in the day and I’ve only ever known one person who could reel them off one after the other like she could (perhaps they were one and the samehmm!). And yes she was a bit scary, but not as scary as some back then!

downtoearth Tue 22-Nov-22 08:16:11

I was thinking of Greatnan a few days ago, another pister who was very good friends with her commented on a thread I had started, which started a chain of thought, apart from her amazing ability to reel of her jokes, she was a very kind hearted compassionate lady who I shared some lovely PMs with.

Thanks, I enjoyed that! It's all so typically true - especially the bit about rummaging in the bin to find the label which tells you the weight and cooking times... that really made me chuckle!

GrandmasueUK Tue 22-Nov-22 08:41:08

Anything to do with trains I think of Urms and Amserlin. Also pork for Urms and her soap dish.
Rome and TKMAXX and New York remind me of Marydoll. I remember laughing so much at her adventures there (and on the plane) that I vowed to avoid travel with her at all costs. It was like reading an episode of Some Mother Do ā€˜ave Em!
Very slim dogs always make me think of Maw as well.
Love this thread. šŸ’

Juliet27

When I read the name EllanVannin I think ā€˜where is she?’

Juliet27 she is just doing fine.

When ever I replant my hanging baskets I think of Phoenix after her win for the best basket a few years ago.

dragonfly46 Tue 22-Nov-22 09:07:07

Is it just me but I really do not like posts discussing other posters?

Urmstongran Tue 22-Nov-22 09:08:50

Love this thread
Thank you GrandmaSueUK! I just thought it might be a bit different, thinking of posters if you see an object!

TerriBull Tue 22-Nov-22 09:40:58

I like seeing posters' cats, or even dogs, I do associate Iam with dogs and animal welfare. I'm not sure who I think of most as far as GN cats are concerned, all I know is I've seen some lovely ones on here envy although I would add Fanny posted a picture of her dog the other day, can't remember the thread, but unbelievably cute was he or she smile
