Good Morning Everyone,
A dark start as usual but dry here in brackley and maybe a wind chill as well .
Yesterdays bus journeys went to plan , I had a all day small breakfast in Buckingham as I had a hour to spare there, plus reuniting with people I have not seen for awhile .
Its still quiet out there still in people numbers .
Take Rare ,
Mick

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where its 6°C.

Not much planned today. I have cancelled my hairdressing appointment, a third day in a row of being out is just too much busyness/business for me!
I had a lovely lunch with my friends yesterday, we of course talked for Scotland, just like the old days in the staffroom!
Unfortunately, two of the meals were sent back for replacements, the chicken could have soled a pair of shoes.
We had a pleasant surprise, when we got the bill, we weren't charged for two mains!

Glasgow was so busy with early Christmas shoppers, so I won't be venturing in again in before Christmas. I found it all a bit overwhelming, to say the least. In my younger days, I could spend all day shopping and lunching in Glasgow.

I was exhausted before I even got there,
DH had told me, there was no frost. I went out to find my car was thick with ice! 🥶 In his defence, he scraped it all for me. 😍
I got to the station to find someone was in MY disabled space. and I had to go to the overflow car pack.
Then I fell up the stairs from the car park, only to find the station was locked!!🤬
This meant a detour under the railway bridge and up a steep ramp. I got to the top (stopping for oxygen on the way) to find the train (not on its usual platform) was about to depart.
Thank goodness for my bright, cerise coat, for the guard spotted me and held the train. Kind man!!

It took me forever to do what I planned in Glasgow.
I sat for a while in various places to get my breath back: the bank, Primark, Argyll St, Buchanan Street and more, it made me quite sad to see how I have deteriorated.
It did make it easier, but I only managed the bank, TKMAXX (so tempted, but resisted) and Primark in two hours!
The queue in Primark was so long, it was nearly at the front door.

On arriving home at 4,30pm, DH took one look at me and suggested a bath and jammies on!
It was such a tonic, meeting my friends, so all worth it and I did secure a pair of leather, cerise pink gloves in Primark, to match my coat! 😁

I will go back and read all your news. It has become my morning ritual, reading this thread in bed.

Wishing you all a peaceful and gentle day, whatever your plans.

Good morning from a very wet and windy Oxfordshire, MissOops is staying for a few days so a wet dog walk for me later, MrOops is taking her out for breakfast and then to the Consultant this afternoon.
I will be pottering with the duster and polish.
Loved your Nativity GM
Ash a good nights sleep makes the world seem a better place doesnt it?
Our hose pipe ban has been lifted Yaaaay, if only anything outdoors was dry!

Have a good day everyone, I doubt there will be any sunshine today, but I’ve no doubt we will all make the best of it.

Urmstongran Wed 23-Nov-22 08:18:24

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from a very wet and miserable south Manchester. I slept in so feel like Rip van Winkle as I had 9 hours solid. I’m sat now with my first cuppa of the day and will read all your posts shortly.

We are calling in to see my stepfather this lunchtime as he’d like a bit of help with a small task. Later this afternoon I’m meeting a friend in the square for coffee (but no cake for me). I stayed home all day yesterday in the end as I wasn’t in the mood for going out and today I have to be out in this pouring rain. Serves me right!

Good morning from wet and windy Leicestershire.

That is a huge relief for your DD Georgesgran.
So pleased you had a good night Ash it makes all the difference.
I too love reading this thread in bed Marydoll while looking at the view although it is quite wild up the hill this morning.
I love the Nativity figures Mattie.

Coffee with friends today then hibernating.
Wishing every one the best day possible.

Happy Birthday Mr Baubles.

Grammaretto Wed 23-Nov-22 08:41:33

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
3° c. The gritting lorries were out yesterday.
I will miss my lovely yarn group yet again as someone is coming to look at insulating the loft.
Good to read everyone's news. I giggled at Meadowhell Wyllow3 that's halfway between DDiL and her mum so they used to meet there regularly when the DGC were small. sounds a nightmare

I am glad you had a good night's sleep Ash what a difference that can make .
Happy birthday Mr Baubles
Well done to your DD Georgesgran and to GM for her ability which never fails to astonish me! perhaps it's the Tai Chi? grin

Grandmadinosaur Wed 23-Nov-22 08:45:46

Another lovely photo of the sky GG and well done to your daughter.

My DH also gives it that name wyllow he commented he can escape and have endless cuppas and keep up,with any football on his phone. They may even be showing it on a big screen. The penny is just dropping is this why he kindly suggested it as he hates shopping 🤦‍♂️

It sounds like you are having a wonderful holiday Ginny and lucky you seeing Alfie Boe.

Shazza that pink hue is what got me out of bed checking the sky. I love the skies at this time of year. One of the few things to enjoy.

Greyduster Wed 23-Nov-22 08:46:18

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very wet South Yorkshire. I woke to a cold house this morning. The boiler had been running for half an hour, but the radiators were stone cold. I was not pleased to have to go into the garage and repressurise the boiler, which was only installed recently. I need to have a word with the plumber. It looks like the rain will keep me in today, but I am expecting a delivery anyway and can find plenty to do.
Good luck at Meadowhell (no that’s not a typo!), Grandmadinosaur! Sooner you than me at this time of the year!😁
Have the best day you can folks.

Marydoll Wed 23-Nov-22 08:46:41

Congratulations to your DD, Georgesgran, what a relief.
Birthday greetings to Mr Baubles. 🥂🎂

BlueSapphire Wed 23-Nov-22 08:48:01

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, where it is absolutely chucking it down. At least it stayed dry yesterday and I was able to get the washing dry. I also changed to a heavier duvet as I felt chilly in bed the previous night. I've gone from a 4.5 tog to a 7.5 and now a 10.5 all in the space of about 6 weeks! Then after lunch a visit to my lovely dentist who gave me a clean bill of health.
I then walked up to the sports centre to meet my walking group for coffee and a good chat.

Hoovering upstairs this morning, then out to the well-being cafe after lunch, complete with knitting. Bolognese for dinner tonight which I must get out of the garage freezer.

It is my brother's 70th birthday today, so I must give him a call. Remember the week after he was born he was in hospital with pneumonia in an incubator, not expected to live. I have a dim memory of visiting the hospital and seeing this tiny scrap, who grew up to find his calling in the church. He is now a happily retired priest but very much in demand on Sundays, standing in for absent incumbents.

Love hearing your stories of Christmas shopping, but there's very little for me to do this year, as DS informed me that it is presents only for the DGDs this time. I love giving presents so I'm a bit sad. I have no ideas at all about what to give the girls; I shall have to ask DS and partner for ideas.

Must get a move on and get going! Have a good Wednesday everyone.

aggie Wed 23-Nov-22 08:50:36

Good morning all from another dry morning here in Co Armagh (auto had America ! )
Club this morning, again I’ve no idea what we are doing , I’ve lost my list

ShazzaKanazza Wed 23-Nov-22 08:50:52

Happy Birthday to your DH Baubles, enjoy your meal tonight x

GrannySomerset Wed 23-Nov-22 08:54:22

Am acting as skivvy to plumber who, having replaced the sitting room radiators last week, has kindly come to touch up the paint work. I say kindly, but it will go on his inevitably large bill, but the wonderful builder/odd job man has decided to retire so I have to take what help I can get and pay up. On the plus side the sitting room is much warmer with modern radiators replacing the 1960s versions. Only eight more, mostly upstairs, to go at some point.

Apart from my domestic duties I have singing this afternoon and tomorrow’s book to finish, so a full enough day. Not pouring at the moment but the forecast is awful so it may not be possible to get to singing for flooded bits of road.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 23-Nov-22 08:54:46

Happy birthday too for your DBs 70th birthday BlueSapphire x

BlueSapphire Wed 23-Nov-22 08:55:39

Just had to put this picture on of my Christmas cactus. Last Christmas it had no flowers at all, but has certainly made up for it this year! Far and away the best one I have ever had.

Urmstongran Wed 23-Nov-22 09:00:21

Lovely photos to enjoy this morning - thank you for sharing ladies.

Grandmadinosaur L’il Miss (5y) and I play I-spy in the car on Mondays - going to and from the swimming lessons. We say “inside the car or outside” and off we go.

Lil Miss: “inside grandma, something beginning with W”
Me: “window? watch?” Etc
L’il Miss: “do you give up?”.... “it’s a Wonsie!”

Ha! Yes of course it is, the ONE you’re wearing over your swimming costume. I need to up my game ...
😂

Newquay Wed 23-Nov-22 09:04:17

Morning from a lurker here in Staffs where it’s grey and raining but dry forecast later.
I envy everyone who sleeps well; I’ve been an insomniac for years although after online therapy at least stay in bed!
I’ve always disliked shopping so am delighted that friends have all agreed, for a few years now, not to exchange gifts. DH and I don’t buy for each other. We’ve stopped buying for DDs and for 6 DGC aged 5-26 we mostly buy their favourite chocs and a cash gift-although this year we’re buying gifts (on advice from DD2) for the youngest two as we’re visiting them this weekend and won’t see them again til the New Year.
Also have discovered online Christmas cards. Marie Curie do some lovely ones-they were so kind and helpful when our dear Mum died-so am happy to donate to them. I do send a few cards to folk who aren’t online. So Christmas is not an onerous task at all. Especially this year!

Grandmadinosaur Wed 23-Nov-22 09:04:31

Ha ha love it Urms I spy is one of the games we play with GS.
He made me howl with a comment he made last night when he was here but it’s too TMI to share 🤣

Right I must get off here and get ready DH will be back from the gym soon and we will hit the road.

Aoife Wed 23-Nov-22 09:13:39

Room for one more? Good morning, first time posting, but have followed the Grans for a bit now.
So enjoy reading Posts from various parts of the country, weather, landscape, and the outings, and all the comings and goings. So too, the wise and kind words for those who ask.
I live in North London (once was called Greater London, before that, Middlesex) ! Ha, sometimes when asked where I live, I have to stop and think! Not a good look !

EkwaNimitee Wed 23-Nov-22 09:16:59

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very rainy Carlisle where it is currently 6C. Unlike Grandmadinosaur and Georgesgran I won't be delighting you with a lovely sunrise photo! What is a sun anyway?!

A bathroom cleaning session beckons shortly followed by a bit of admin. After lunch I have a hospital appointment for my regular bloodletting, only every 2 months now. I had hoped it would be no longer necessary but last time they found my iron stores had gone up. I suspect that was due to over-consumption of red meat on holiday so it's been back to the fish and chicken recently.

Hope to 'see' you again Newquay....

Have the best possible day, all.

Susan56 Wed 23-Nov-22 09:25:03

Good morning from Shropshire.

We had a lovely afternoon with DGD yesterday. She loved having us to herself and we loved it too.We went to the toy shop, then to buy slippers and wellies for her to keep at our house and finished off in McDonald’s.

We haven’t long woken up so the busy few days must have caught up with us.

Today we plan to get the gifts wrapped and the cards written for DH’s family as we will go down to see them in the next couple of weeks.

I haven’t seen Annie posting lately.Annie hope you are ok💐🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from the Angus coast where the clouds are laden with rain after a beautiful pink start - just like the Old Wives tale. In fact the rain is now battering down. The shepherds were warned 😉
I've just lost my post (there's a surprise!) so I won't be able to spend much time on this now. But I must just mention your lovely flock of sheep grandmattie, and your stunning photos Ginny. Not to forget the gorgeous pink sunrise photo Georgesgran. (I must be well into second childhood now because I love picture books!). I'm so glad you have had a better night's sleep Ash - and in bed at last too. Another stride forward.
I have nothing much to report from my own life. Today is the day I take my friend out in the car. It gets dark so early now that we've decided to go out for lunch now instead of an afternoon cuppa so that I don't have to drive back in the dark after dropping her back home. So I had better get moving now as I'll have to set out earlier too!
Have a good day everyone x
