Good Morning Everyone,
A dark start as usual but dry here in brackley and maybe a wind chill as well .
Yesterdays bus journeys went to plan , I had a all day small breakfast in Buckingham as I had a hour to spare there, plus reuniting with people I have not seen for awhile .
Its still quiet out there still in people numbers .
Take Rare ,
Mick

Welcome, Aoife! Always room for one more! You will enjoy the GM thread.

Good morning all from a wet and miserable W Kent. Instead of cup of tea in our favourite cafe I shall be going to DF's house, as DH as offered to give me a lift.
Got some more cards written yesterday and the venetian blinds cleaned, which was quite enough.
Happy birthday for todays birthdays.
Best wishes to all

Good morning Mick, Annie (if you still pop in) and all GN's.
Sun is now shining after more rain earlier.
We are very lazy these days and seem to get up later each day.
I have mislaid my little 'key' thingie, to get into my bank, so will have to have a search soon. I really don't want to have to order a new one.
I found evidence of a mouse/mice, in two kitchen cupboards a couple of days ago. So yesterday I stuffed the holes with wire wool. If they come back I will get our lovely window cleaner to have a look. He does a pest control service.
Had trouble getting an appointment for my next blood test, before my Chemo treatment, but then, magically, one was available. It made me anxious as I need them every 4 weeks. I don't know why I can't book one after each visit.
We will go into town later, to pay in a check and post a condolence card. No doubt have a coffee as well.
GrandMattie, your DL has wrapped you round her little finger. 6.45 pm for her visitors? I hope they are not expecting supper!
Marydoll, I do so sympathise with you, as I am the same about low energy levels and cannot do a big trawl round the shops any longer. I think a rollator would help enormously, but can't quite bring myself to buy one yet.
To all who feel down in the dumps or a bit poorly, sending hugs.
Have a good day one and all.

Welcome Aoife. I used to live in Hounslow, and always think of it as Middlesex.

Welcome Aoife 👋

Ziplok Wed 23-Nov-22 09:54:38

Good morning.
It’s a very wet, miserable one again today, and yet we are told that we still need a lot more rain to replenish the water stocks in our part of the world, so the hose pipe ban remains in force here for now.
I went to Meadowhall (yes, known locally as Meadowhell) last week and although busy, it wasn’t overwhelmingly so. It’s not a place I go to often, as I’m not over keen on the place, but it made a change and had a nice lunch whilst there.
Popped into our local town yesterday to buy Xmas cards for family and buy some more fruit for the cake I’ll be making shortly. It, too, wasn’t very busy, but imagine weekends will be in the run up to Christmas.
Welcome to the GM thread Aoife. It’s a lovely, welcoming thread to post on.

Good morning all from soggy wet Harrogate where they have just announced an end to the hose pipe ban!!!
Nativity looks lovely Grandmattie, as do the photos of the lovely sunrises. I suppose while in La Gomera Ginny you’ve had the whistling language demonstration ? Fascinating, isn’t it?
Marydoll did I read The Galleries in Buchanan Street are coming down? They’ve only just gone up
(About 30years ago)!! Gosh the days I would walk the length and breadth of Sauchiehall Street, would love to be back
Good to see you Newquay. Hope to see more of your chat!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning Mick and all from a wet northwest coast.
The gig was well received yesterday although I initially turned up at the venue we last played at, rather than the intended, anyway I was in time. Sadly our keyboard player was unwell so it was just guitars and percussion. Afterwards, an audience member said “You should be on the stage!” when I’ve spent my life on it!
I then mundanely went food shopping in my false eyelashes etc.
Off to lunchtime concert today, anything to escape the housework lol and I can keep the heating off.
Maybe I mentioned it before, but who would have thought a packet hot pad could burn you! I slept with one on for my bad back and had a couple of little blisters. Read the packet and that was the wrong thing to do…
Thoughts to Megs welcome Aoife and thoughts to anyone with worries.

Good morning all from Glasgow where it is a dreich day with heavy rain. What a lovely busy thread this morning. I read all the posts first but when I come to post, I have forgotten who said what. Memory like a colander now. 😄

Such uplifting photos to start the day, thank you for sharing them.
Happy birthday to MrB
What a horrible threat hanging over your DD Georgesgran huge relief and many congratulations to her securing the job and, with a pay rise too! Excellent. 👏

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Purplepixie Wed 23-Nov-22 10:57:57

Good morning from a sunny East Midlands. After hours of rain the sun has finally come out to play!

Ziplok Wed 23-Nov-22 10:58:50

That’s good news about the hose pipe ban Gwenisgreat1, perhaps ours will be lifted shortly after all 🤞.

Good morning Mick and everyone. Another cold, dark, wet day here. Glad you had a good day yesterday Mick. Mr. B has been out and done the usual supermarket shop and collected the bakery order, so there will be a treat with afternoon coffee today.

Those shepherds and sheep are wonderful GrandMattie. Glad you had a better night Ashcombe, your own bed is the best place to be. I love the superlambananas Nannagarra, my oldest brother was a curator for the Liverpool galleries and I have a pin badge of the yellow superlambanana that he gave me. There were smaller versions made decorated by various people and there was a trail of them around Liverpool when it was city of culture. I have the book with photos of them all. My sister has the yellow pottery one.

Enjoy the lovely sunshine Ginny, beautiful photos. Lovely sunrises Grandmadinosaur and Georgesgran, glad your daughter is sorted GG.

What a nightmare start to your day Marydoll, no wonder you were so tired. Glad you enjoyed seeing your friends and I hope you are going to rest today.

Yesterday I had a rather distressing experience when someone tried to steal £600 from my PayPal account. Fortunately I spotted what was happening and nipped it in the bud before any damage was done. I also changed passwords and security info to be on the safe side. These scams are rife at this time of year with Black Friday sales and an increase in online shopping, we have to be vigilant.

Happy Birthday to Mr Baubles and a warm welcome to Newquay and Aoife.

Hope all our poorly grans and family members are on the mend. Wishing you all a good day 🌷

Many years ago I went to school in Beverley High School for Girls, with Miss Harley Mason as headmistress. Lived in Market Weighton and used to come in on the train each day - first year it was a steam train. How ancient does that make me sound! Loved Beverley and having picnics on the westwood. Lovely place, I shall make a new years resolution to come over and have a look round again

BlueSapphire I think your cactus is like mine - a Thanksgiving cactus. It has serrated green parts while a Christmas cactus had smooth edged green bits. It flowers late October, early November in time for Thanksgiving.

Wyllow3 Wed 23-Nov-22 14:01:15

Oh my, what lovely Christmas cactus!

I like the DH with the Cunning Plan for Meadowhell.

Marydoll Wed 23-Nov-22 15:03:56

Nice to see you posting, Borrheid. I hope all is well.

We don’t get out much but they fold easily into most car boots and have been useful a few times .*Marydoll * might definitely help you.

Marydoll Wed 23-Nov-22 19:25:01

Borrheid55 Wed 23-Nov-22 23:20:19

Wyllow came from a cutting my mother gave me about fifteen years ago. It grew huge so tidied it up and took some cuttings last year. This is the result- seems happy in the bay window!

Borrheid55 Wed 23-Nov-22 23:24:54

This was the parent plant before its haircut , two years ago! Wyllow
