I don't like it but my lovely, slighter older sister loves it.(we're both in our 70''s) I would love to know from people in the know, what is the best, nicest and possibly poshest TD to buy for her Christmas present.
I have her main present already but would like to give her a sweetie stocking filler. TIA

Waitrose and John Lewis sell Rose and Lemon Turkish Delight.

I’m not a fan so can’t really recommend one, but these look well presented.

Have a look on Amazon, there are some brands eg Eren and Hazer Baba if you want an authentic Turkish product.
I love it too 😋

I remember Fry’s Turkish delight from when I was a child but not my thing at all…. I think a belly dancer used to advertise it..

If you’re near a TKMaxx, they often have a selection of TD and not just the usual rose and lemon.

Both Harvey Nichols and Fortnum and Mason are advertising it in wooden boxes.
I’m not a fan, but added a box of TD to my sister-in-law’s gift - just from M&S.

Proper Turkish Delight is quite different and lovely, it has a sprinkling of icing sugar.

We used to have some in a wooden box at Christmas but I can't remember the make.

Its actually really easy and inexpensive to make if you feel inclined? And far nicer than the bought stuff.

This one looks good:

Other makes available.

I bought some yesterday in Aldi for Mr. S., the one that's covered in icing sugar.

Goodness me.
I didn't expect so many replies.
Thank you all. I'll investigate every suggestion.
I now know why I love Gransnet. thanks

The pistachio is nice. I love any kind, including the Frys. Probably why I'm fat!

Husbands sisters are refugees in Turkey and he just brought back loads of authentic TD. I am not a fan. Much prefer a curry.

Fortnum and Mason do lovely boxes of Turkish Delight and you can buy online. Excellent delivery service too

Just eaten a box of Waitrose Turkish Delight and it wasn't at all good. (Obviously had to eat it anyway). 🙄

Never been a great fan - too sickly sweet for me. I remember the advert for Frys Turkish Delight with the belly dancer:-

Frys Turkish Delight
From the Fabulous East
To the West comes a wonderful treat ...

MrsKen33 Sun 27-Nov-22 06:56:21

NotSpaghetti yes and lovely chicken pies .

Calendargirl Sun 27-Nov-22 07:06:38

“Full of Eastern promise”.

Grantanow Sun 27-Nov-22 09:55:28

And full of sugar too!

Purplepixie Sun 27-Nov-22 10:02:51

I quite like the M&S Turkish delight but it is full of sugar. My mam used to make it herself but sadly I didn’t get the recipe for it from her. I did try to make it from a Delia Smith recipe and it was terrible.

Mr Y loves it and DD sends Fortnum and Masons, he likes Hazer Baba which he brought back one time when he was in Istanbul.
We are lucky we have Chocolatiers near us called Kennedys based in Cumbria and Cornwall I think they do it online, they do all the flavours. I can also recommend their chocolates their Christmas selection has to be hidden.

I love proper Turkish delight - lokum. But it has to be the real fresh stuff, not pre-packaged. The fresh lokum comes in lots of different varieties and isn't nearly as sickly sweet as the pre-packed stuff.
