Good morning everyone from a slightly misty Northampton, but should clear up later. In a bit of a rush this morning as it is yoga and I overslept. Must be in the shower in the next few minutes! But must have my mug of tea first.

Really enjoyed the film yesterday - Daniel Craig's whodunit The Glass Onion. It was very funny, preposterous and weird. Thoroughly recommended. Popped into Waterstones afterwards and got elder DGD two books that she would like for Christmas. Also decided to get her younger sister some baking stuff as she is really into that at the moment. I found some nice stuff on Amazon, and found a pamper gift box for elder DGD too. No more presents to buy as we are only buying for the grandchildren this year. I also popped into New Look for a browse before I got the bus home and came out with a padded coat for half price......

Yoga then home for an early lunch then out into town again to the optician, just a check-up, but I have the feeling that he may recommend new glasses, more expense, but needs must, I suppose.

Not had time to read the thread this morning, so will wish everyone a good Monday, and pop back later after yoga.

Good morning from Sefton where it is damp underfoot & the overcast sky is now showing some pretty pink bits.
A very enjoyable day yesterday with DS2 & family. DGD2, aged 3, is a delight. A sunny & cheerful little soul, though she does have her moments.
Singing this morning, mostly out of tune, but we are getting louder as people gain confidence & realise it really doesn't matter. Enjoying the moment is what matters.
Food shopping this afternoon.
Wishing you all a peaceful week.

Grammaretto Mon 28-Nov-22 08:25:49

Good morning all from an ice cold Nottingham. I'm on the bus to the station (railway station) you have to distinguish these days. I was directed to the bus station in Newark on my way here.
I had a lovely weekend with the family but Monday morning they are all back at work and school.
Your DL has everyone running after her gMattie I hope you get some remuneration. If so buy yourself a lightweight hoover.

Good luck with the appointments Mick
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Nannagarra Mon 28-Nov-22 08:28:07

I’m sure your DS2 and family will enjoy Lapland Gingster. Mine were there a few days ago and absolutely loved it.
Pittcity - sending a hug.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 28-Nov-22 08:28:14

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull it’s misty this morning.

Marydoll love to little Dollie hope she feels better soon.

Pittcity pleased your mum is responding to treatment how worrying for you. I have my mum and my dad and stepmum and I’m starting to worry about them and the help they may soon start to need.

Oops and Brook enjoy your day today Oops I love Lanzarote it such an island of contrasts and Brook I had the best sangria ever up in Frigliana.

Nannagarra love the mammoth.

Our Christmas dinner afternoon went lovely. The grandchildren were delightful. Everyone loved my dinner I just need to elevate it up a step for our actual Christmas dinner. I’m the worst critic of my own cooking. Baby B loved the tree.
Today is yoga and picking up GS from school. He had an amazing week last week at school so hoping for the same again.

Wishing everyone a lovely Monday. Virtual hugs to those with family illness and worries. 🌻🌻

NanKate Mon 28-Nov-22 08:29:04

Morning Mick and All.

Misty day here in South Bucks.

Yes Mary covid is rife round here. DH caught it from DGS who caught it from his mother. I caught it from DH and although I am on Day 10 I’m still coughing and sneezing 🤧 and testing positive. I’ve had to cancel all my plans for this week and I am not a happy bunny.

So sorry to hear about poor Dollie.

Urmstongran Mon 28-Nov-22 08:34:08

No Matt = it’s Monday.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the sun’s just coming up behind the Pennines. A beautiful golden light this morning and I’m bathed in it on this sofa. I have my cardigan and slippers on but no need of our heating on yet.

This made me laugh so I thought I’d share it with all you bakers out there!

Thinking of all who are struggling this morning. Life can be challenging at times and makes us appreciate the good times. x

Stilllearning Mon 28-Nov-22 08:41:29

Good Morning from near Oban where I have been ‘childminding’ for a few days. Although there has to be another word for being in charge of children who are taller than you, 14 year old being at least 6 feet! I spent yesterday afternoon freezing while watching school rugby and I feel very virtuous as a result!

Their schools have an in service day today so a good dog walk (for me, an amble for them) is in the cards. Forecast is cold but sunny so that will be good. I may get some Christmas cards written later which would be even better.

Home tomorrow, by train this time, as the winter bus timetable isn’t so handy. I’ll miss the journey via Inveraray, Loch Fyne and down the Rest and Be Thankful, it’s really beautiful.

I’ve had several happy holidays in Nerja Brook, enjoy.

As always, thinking about all who need support and wishing everyone a pleasant day🦩🦩🦩

Good morning everyone from what looks to be a sunny day in south Hants 🤗
Lovely day yesterday with DS1 and the 2 x GDs. I felt exhausted when they left … my stamina is nowhere near as good as it used to be!

Another busy day today - now the skirting and architrave is all painted we can finally move it and get in the loft to look at Christmas stuff to see what’s needed in the way of cards etc.
we’ve decided to buy a new much smaller tree that will sit on a worktop rather than get down the 6ft one that we usually have. Reason being DDog no longer sleeps in his crate at night and also Dcat always thinks of it as ‘his tree’ and likes to climb in the middle and ‘attack’ anyone who tries to move him. He especially likes to bat all the decorations and play football when they drop off! I really can’t be bothered with it this year and DH actually agrees so I’ll be buying one before he changes his mind!! 😂
I’ve not read your posts yet so will go back and read them now.
Have the best day you can. Hope those feeling under the weather feel better soon.
Hugs and 💐 for you all x

Good morning, from a dank, grey, Durham. DD2 and family have hacking coughs and I seem to have picked one up too, although I will babysit DGS2 later while she has her twice weekly hospital appointment to check on the progress of her foot wound - she’s had problems with it bleeding over the weekend, which must be a setback.
I’ve had little interest in my property which is up for sale, so I plan to rent it out again and will call an estate agent this morning to get the ball rolling.
gM I also was wondering about remuneration or some sort of gift from your DL. Her dog must’ve been so excited to see her and given the choice, I’d have elected to look after the dog rather than its owner!
Lots of talk of Christmas decorations and cards today, so I need to up my game.
Fingers crossed for a good week.

Good morning all from another lovely morning on the Angus coast. I didn't like the forecast on Countryfile last night though - but that's winter for you!
Have a good day with all your doings everyone - lovely to read about them all. For me it's tai chi committee meeting to discuss all sorts of little thises and thats - I'm not a committee sort of person, but we have some wonderfully efficient people who are, thank goodness - I'm in awe of them.
I haven't read all the posts yet but look forward to doing so later.
Have a sunny day everyone x

Ziplok Mon 28-Nov-22 09:02:59

Bright and chilly here, good morning all.
Managed to write most of the Xmas cards that need posting yesterday so will start posting them off this week. Earlier than normal but with various strike dates looming, I better had.
Nothing planned other than a visit to the dentist later.

Anniebach Mon 28-Nov-22 09:04:20

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

EkwaNimitee Mon 28-Nov-22 09:11:11

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
It's gradually getting into winter now, another layer of clothes went on after I heard the week's forecast.
I spent a quiet day reading yesterday, today it's time for action on the housework and laundry fronts. But the afternoon will be free for whatever I fancy after lunch which will also have to include puzzling over some small christmas presents for the GC. Difficult now they are teenagers. I plan to go into town tomorrow and have a browse for them.

Wishing you all the best possible day especially if you are struggling for whatever reason.

luluaugust Mon 28-Nov-22 09:23:53

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. DF coming today, she had been at a book event and managed to get me a signed copy of a book by my brothers favourite author.
Gingster I am sure you will enjoy Penshurst, its not NT so felt more real somehow!. To all those tackling Bluewater good luck.
Best wishes to all

NanaBabs1 Mon 28-Nov-22 09:40:52

Regular reader, but not a regular poster from Kent. Yes Gingster, you’ll enjoy Penshurst Place. My kids enjoyed the wonderful adventure playground more years ago than I care to remember, so it’s a while since I visited. We’re spoilt for choice of stately homes in this neck of the woods!
Enjoy your day as best you can everyone. Hope your houses are warmer than mine!

hulahoop Mon 28-Nov-22 09:41:00

Welcome NanaBabs 👋

Blossoming Mon 28-Nov-22 09:54:29

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cold and bright in this corner of Lancashire.

I’m enjoying reading about meetings, outings and Christmas preparations. I’m slowly getting there, I was surprised to receive a Royal Mail delivery yesterday evening. It was a few bits and pieces I’d ordered from John Lewis and glad they arrived before this week’s postal strikes.

Hope all our poorly grans and family members are on the mend. Wishing you all a good day.

MawtheMerrier Mon 28-Nov-22 10:07:11

Good morning from gloriously sunny N Bucks.
I’ve not been posting much over the last few weeks, a combination of feeling down, beset by a never ending cold, sadness at the anniversary of losing Paw, fatigue and just feeling “out of step” with the world.
(Felt so out of sorts I even turned down a ticket for The Nutcracker with the Birmingham family on Friday night and lunch in London on Saturday with youngest D and the little boys as her in laws were driving down from Bedford )
Of course I regretted both of those over the weekend when it seemed I am likely to live. That’ll larn me.
But I have missed being part of the GM thread and have followed you every day.
Anyway enough navel gazing, there are so many of you with infinitely more serious or heartbreaking issues, I feel ashamed of my self-pity.
I feel very sad for another reason. My next door neighbour was being dropped off by her grown up son yesterday afternoon when I was chatting to another friend , and came across to us asking if we had “heard”. Heard what?
Poor woman, her gentleman friend /partner had had a massive heart attack the previous morning, and not made it.
Although they had never married- he was widowed, she divorced, and each had kept their own house - they had been together for 16 years. It’s a strange situation - she is not legally his next of kin, but was the person his family initially turned to. Of course everything is in their hands now, but I do hope they take her wishes and feelings into account when planning his funeral.
In the midst of life, etc.
Must pop out and get her some flowers this morning, then I have Art History this afternoon.
The pile of (unwritten) Christmas cards is still lying reproachfully on the table, untouched since last Thursday, what is going to galvanise me into writing them?
Wishing you all a pleasant day, safe driving for those who are travelling and respite for all with worries or who are poorly.

harrigran Mon 28-Nov-22 10:10:04

Good morning from a foggy NE where it is 4 degrees.
Slept in again today, I am finding the weekends tiring with family here all day Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday evening a runaway car bumped into DIL'S car which was parked at the side of my house. Took the registration and reported to police as it was blocking the road, we checked the registration with DVLA and it was not a recognised plate.
SIL came yesterday and we sorted more paperwork, he helped me find what I was looking for during the week.
We had duck parmentier with carrots and green beans for dinner and a glass of Sancerre which was a little young but okay.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Frustration galore, I am still at home. Numerous incidents on the M25 this morning so no meet up with DD2 at Bluewater.
We are tentively planning for next Monday, watch this space xx
