Good Morning Monday 29th November 2022
(59 Posts)Good morning from a dry, dark E Kent.
All the best with you hospital appointments, Mick.
Got to church just after the service started yesterday. Our vicar has retired and we are in an interregnum, the vicar taking the service stared almost early, added things missed others out, it was quite unsettling.
I did the cleaning yesterday. I hadn’t realised how heavy the vacuum cleaner is…. It exhausted me - especially as it had been DH’s job most of our marriage.
DL’s friend came just before lunch to bring her dog to visit. I’m glad I didn’t have it as well! She is not especially well behaved. The poor woman has had this dog since early August and is starting to feel she too has had enough.
We had Urms’s SOAP dish for dinner. It really is delicious.
My best wishes for this in trouble or sorrow, wishing them a gentle day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning all from dark South Lanarkshire, I think it’s dry out there.
DH is up and bustling about as the car is booked in for a service at eight and he likes to have time to make the coffee, for which he grinds the beans daily, and take the daft dug out without rushing.
He will then take me to work in whatever courtesy car the garage provides.
We were missing one person at our lunch yesterday as one of my sisters in law has covid and is quite unwell with it. Two of DD’s brood have also come down with it and have been more affected than the last time.
Church teas yesterday was busy, the hall isn’t large and we were bursting at the seams. It was the first time for months though as we’ve been in a state of flux for a while with the last temporary priest having moved on to a different parish and our new temporary priest still settling in.
Wishing you all the best possible day, thinking especially of those who are ill or distressed.
Morning all from a still dark but dry S Yorks.
Bests for all your appointments Mick and grandMattie you have gone "Above and beyond" for so long now.
Up early to escape a dream, but have a quiet day ahead: a Zoom counselling session and hopefully the cards finished.
and posted.
Bests for all you endeavours today, GN's, may poorlies/family poorlies be as well as you all can, and any special events enjoyed.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and looks damp. I've been awake since half past four and I have a full day of childcare ahead so I'm on coffee number one. Have a good day all
Morning Mick, morning All, still looks damp out there. Our corner of Somerset is very soggy indeed.
Decent pottering day yesterday. Much the same this morning, an appointment was made for our shy gas meter to be checked, it’s sulking and refusing to be smart. Haven’t had the usual reminder so anyones guess if an engineer will arrive. Hope to get out later, a wait and see day.
Hope those appointments later in the week go well mick. I’m just relieved you didn’t take in the dog as well gtandmattie.
Thoughts as ever for those with worries of any kind. Hope Monday is kind to us all.
Good morning from Essex by the sea. A small correction, it's the 28th not the 29th November just in case anyone gets a fright.
I'm off to Bluewater this morning, meeting DD2 . We are both hoping the M25 behaves, she comes from Kent me from Essex.
Here's hoping that you all have a lovely Monday, much love xx
Good morning from a dark but dry and warm Lanzarote. A sunny day forecast and 26 degrees when we landed. Hope your appointments go well Mick
GM how on earth will your DL cope with a dog! However, she is going so best not to ask her!
An uneventful trip over yesterday, then MrOops was in the pool and getting some sunshine whilst I unpacked, a meal out later at our favourite restaurant, then a quick shop for some breakfast items and then back here to relax.
Hope everyone has a good day today I’ll pop back later.
Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It is 5 degrees and foggy according to Alexa.
We’ve had a quiet weekend and yesterday went for a walk around the marina. There was a craft market on and we bought a couple of items.
Today I have a hair appointment mid morning. Beyond that I have lots to do tidying etc and I want to start some Christmas baking soon. I also have an order to collect from M&S.
Hoping all has gone well for Greyduster with her op.
Have a good day everyone.
Morning all
I did have a fright when I saw the 29th as I am out for lunch on that day 🤣🤣
Enjoy your time in Bluewater Sar53 I am going on Wednesday, DS and DiL are going and I have cadged a lift as I really do not like the drive.
I will continue with putting the Christmas decorations up today
Have your best day folks 🙋♀️🦩
Good morning!
I only had 3 hours sleep so feeling decidedly meh this morning 😵💫
DH should be back from DD’s today, he’ll be tired I suspect.
I need to get a move on and walk DDog but my get up and go has got up and gone….
Take care everyone x
Good morning everyone from Malaga where we’ve another warm sunny day forecast
Today we’re getting the bus along the coast to Nerja, we’ve been there before but always like to have a look around and a walk along the front. We might get the bus up to Frigiliana if we’ve time as it’s a lovely there too. We’ve got the rest of this week here and then we’re back to the cold of Inverness on Sunday. I’ll then be having a very busy couple of weeks with Christmas planning!
Grandmabatty sounds like a long day ahead, hope you get a rest later
Thinking of all with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where its 3°C.
I haven't had a good night, so a gentle day planned. DH is golfing, so an empty, to enjoy!
A busy, but pleasant day yesterday, the Christmas market had only a few stalls, but we had a very pleasant wander around the nursery, planning future plant purchases.
The nursery is out in the countryside and the air was so pure.
Lusting after a beautiful, Ali Baba style pot, SIL checked the price for me. It was only £640!!!!
I did manage to buy a few foodie gifts for Christmas and DIL'S birthday next week, so a successful trip.
On checking my phone, I found a photo of a very poorly Dollie, who had been vomiting all night long. 😌
We decided to pop up and see the wee darling.
Poor DIL was exhausted doing laundry, they had run out of bed linen to to sleep in, because Dollie kept being sick. They were playing musical beds!
She has been on steroids for her asthma and croup, which explains why she is so unwell.
Fortunately she has a telephone asthma review with the hospital today, so hopefully some advice will be on offer.
I may pop up later to see if DIL needs anything.
Sitting at the traffic lights, I burst out laughing. I had spotted a rather frustrated DS in his garden, putting up outdoor Christmas decorations.
It reminded me of Clark Griswald in the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation film, where none of the lights work! He was not in the best of spirits, especially after being up most of night with Dollie and forced to sleep on the sofa!
I have heard of a fair number of people having Covid over the last few weeks. It's a bit concerning for me, being so vulnerable.
The people I have heard of, have been really struggling and taking weeks to get over it.
Best wishes to the Covid warriors mentioned on here.
GM, we changed our vacuum cleaner for a much lighter one. DH usually does all the vacuuming, but on the rare occasions, I did it, I struggled. It's worth thinking about. There are lots on the market.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Good Morning all from Severnside. It’s very cloudy, darkish ones too.
I’ve had a very nice weekend spending time with Beechnutella and other family. Still no definite Christmas plans.
I’ve finished my week of home blood pressure readings and will drop everything back to the surgery tomorrow. I’m getting so anxious these days about health stuff.
Have a good day everyone 🦩🍃🍂
Good morning all and well done Sar with your eagle eye re the date! Fingers crossed for you and the M25. Enjoy your day with your DD.
We, too, had SOAP at the weekend and I cooked it in my air fryer. Delish! Thanks Urms.
We had a lovely afternoon with the family yesterday.DIL2 brought sooo much food and DIL1 made a lovely sausage lasagne.
Dd didn’t come as she didn’t want to spread any germs. DS2 and family are going to Lapland on Wednesday and they need to keep well and healthy.
I haven’t got to do the school trip today as DD is feeling well enough to take Dgd , along with her friend who will drive her.
I have my Chimes group this morning. We have been practising for the U3A Christmas concert, but apparently they don’t want us this year! 😤😳. Oh well! Their loss! 😂😂.
I’m off to Penhurst Place for the day tomorrow with said U3A,
Has anyone ever been? It’s near Tunbridge wells and we’ll have lunch and a wander there after our tour of the big house.
Thanks for all your PM’s over the last few days ❤️.
Good morning from rainy Hampshire.
We've woken in a different Premier Inn this morning after a slightly better and longer night's sleep.
Mum is responding to treatment in hospital but it's going to be a long haul.
They live in a retirement flat so today we will be tackling the manager to find out what can be done in the way of home help and personal carers. My Dad is disabled and Mum was his main carer. He copes on his own if she has left him detailed instructions but finds it hard on his own. He was busy organising his various committees over the phone and computer yesterday but has never set foot in the laundry room.
We are knackered but will visit Mum again this afternoon and should be able to go home for a while tomorrow as my other sis and bil
will take over.
It's good to unload on you lot, my virtual friends.
Thank you for your good wishes and prayers.
I am thinking of you all.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning all from dark Harrogate.
Good luck with your hospital appointments Mick
How on earth will your DL manage with an unruly dog GrandMattie? But it’s none of your business, you’ve done your bit.
I do envy Oopsand Brook in sunny climes. Make the most of it!
I’m off for a CT scan this morning then I have telephone calls this afternoon.
Tomorrow we are off to near Grantham for a few days
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning, s somerset weather seems dry today and perhaps enough sun to get me out
I need light on my face in the morning, helps sleep. I started using my small lumie lamp a few days ago, while having breakfast and I slept from 10 to 7.20 last night. I only use it during the dark days to help sleep, I don`t need it for mood
Definitely out and up a hill on my bike later, loving the countryside for cycling
Good morning from Sefton.
We have Mr. Busy today. He’ll accompany me to donate to the charity shop and granddad who wants to make a Flemish beef stew which we’ll enjoy later.
Hot on the heels of last Tuesday’s lambanana is a mammoth from Holt, Norfolk, seen this summer. I hope it brings you cheer.
Enjoy Monday everyone.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. A group of us WI ladies are going to Bath this morning to see the Christmas Market. One of our group has access to a minibus so we are going in that. I haven’t been to Bath in years even though it’s only an hour or so away. OH will take the opportunity to watch lots of football. Enjoy your day everyone.
Good morning from brightish Leicestershire.
No it definitely isn’t the 29th as that is my DD’s birthday!
Was up reading most of the night as sleep was evasive - so much on my mind so an easy day today.
Pleased to hear your DD is feeling better Gingster and I hope you can get a care package for your Dad sorted out Pittcity and your Mum continues to feel better.
Wishing everyone a good day.
Good morning all from a foggy and damp Black country.
Need to drop something round to DS today he works from home Monday's. Will probably go to the garden centre afterwards.
Nothing else planned will need to sort through cards to see what I have and how many more I need.
Hope Dollie recovers soon Marydoll not nice when the little ones are poorly.
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some 🌞
Good morning from a damp S Hants, it rained overnight.
What a worry Pittcity take care of yourselves too best you can.
It’s my voluntary day on the phones, so a bit tied to the house, no excuse not to bung the vacuum round.
Enjoy your day if you can 🦩🦩
A late good morning from Torbay where it’s a dry one following rain overnight. TIB at 3.30 a.m. meant we were asleep when Mick opened up this morning!
As Oopsadaisy1 has said: how will your DL ever cope with a dog, grandMattie, especially if it’s not well behaved? She is fortunate that you and the dog minder have given so selflessly to her for all this time. Please look after yourself in these last few weeks of her stay.
I hope suitable care can be put in place, Pittcity; it must be more difficult to organise in an unfamiliar area.
Yesterday, I made it to church and enjoyed a most uplifting Advent Sunday service with some favourite hymns: Abba Father, O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, and Our God Reigns. I was persuaded to read a (short) lesson, too. It was a joy to be back. DH walked me there and back, but rambled over the Downs during the service. He had hoped for some photo opportunities but the fog had other ideas!
It’s lovely to read of the Christmas preparations and shopping expeditions. Enjoy whatever you’ve planned and get well messages to those who are unwell, especially with this wretched Covid. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
