I think that is rather silly. She has a title as Princess, and the title was, I believe, intended for Edward, who has worked hard as a royal and yet for some reason, is only an Earl. If a title is deemed a reward then he has earned one.
I agree, the title should of gone to the Edward and Sophie. Theyâve quietly gone about business in an understated consciousness way. Princess Charlotte has a title, another is overload for a child of this age. Charles can hardly afford to alienate another family memberâŠnot that Iâm suggesting this has happened between him and the Wessexâs but they could be forgiven for feeling this is a slight.
I too think it should go to Edward. Why canât Charlotte become Princess Royal after Anne? Charles didnât have a daughter but Charlotte is his elder granddaughter.

Agreed. It's rather ridiculous. Presumably it will go to her when she comes of age.
Did Prince Philip want this title to go to his youngest son?
If the Queen wanted Edward to be DofE then he should be. Firs he not already run the DofE awards scheme these days. If Charlotte was made Duchess of Edinburgh would whoever she married become Duke?
Why does a 7 yr old need a duchy? Since Edwardian times, usually children of the monarch or the first in line are given such titles on marriage. I think Victoria gave children titles though.
Ive always wondered why Edward was only an Earl. For sure he made a bit of a tosser of himself with "Its a Royal Knockout". and ducking out of the marines. However that was a long time ago and in the meantime he and Sophie have lived a blameless life (in comparison with some other royals that we wont mention) and just got on with it.
