I was drifting along happy in my commonness and now it seems there are actually different grades of Commoner. I’m not sure anymore, but I expect someone will be along to tell me soon,

There's Commoner
Then there's common as muck

😁

I rather think we are beginning to see Charles in his true colours. It should go to the Edward.

Sorry - to Edward’s family!

I agree, the title should of gone to the Edward and Sophie. They’ve quietly gone about business in an understated consciousness way. Princess Charlotte has a title, another is overload for a child of this age. Charles can hardly afford to alienate another family member…not that I’m suggesting this has happened between him and the Wessex’s but they could be forgiven for feeling this is a slight.

Totally agree with you and I'm not a royalist. Ed and Sophie are quiet and dignified, far better than some I could name who constantly moan and seek attention. While we have the royals those getting on with job should be recognised. Charlotte is young and already titled and it is unnecessary. I wonder who thought this was a good idea. If it was Charlie he knew his dad wanted Ed to receive it.

Maybe we need a collective of forelock tuggers ,knee benders and folk who swoon if they think an honour is in their sight .....oh wait theres a lot of them on here already ...can we give them a name ?

Anything that starts with common would work but double barrel it to make sure its right, now that IS common nowadays .

It was promised to Edward by the Queen and Prince Philip. Charles is an ars*** if he doesn’t honour their wishes. Charlotte can have the Princess Royal title after Princess Anne which I think is more appropriate. You would think Charles would like to stop family problems but if he does this he’s opening up a new row.

Can't argue with that I agree with all you say. It seems Charlie can be cantankerous - remember the pen incident? I'm not a royalist and if he snubs Ed, the rf will be slimmer quicker

William and Kate are showing their true colours. I wonder what income goes with these titles. They are a money grabbing, tax thieving lot. Everytime there is a leakage of a bank in the tax havens, the Royal Family are there in the lists. While the rest of struggle, they are concerned about Harry and Megan walking two steps behind them. Their expensive PR stunts and having the newspapers on leash with the threats of not inviting them to press conferences are costing us tax payers a fortune, while they move their money abroad. After all Royalty sell newspapers.

In general, there's no money or land associated with these titles. Certainly the Duke of Edinburgh title has no material gains. The titles are just - well - titles. Things they call each other. Fancy made up titles to make Person X feel that they are important, and to try to sustain some sort of hierarchy based on patronage.

To me, it seems childish. Like being called Milk Monitor but not actually having any milk to be responsible for.

Ah I need to apologise. I thought the inheritance thing was to affect all title changes after 2011. Didn't realise it only affected children born after 2011 but then I'm a republican who only really takes a cursory interest in the royal family when it's being plugged so much by main stream media one can hardly ignore it! Shame for Sophie, she seems such a good egg. Still think if the title is to go to anyone, it should go to Edward. Apart from the youthful folly of "It's a Royal Knockout" he's probably been the only one of the four children never to disgrace the Firm with sleazy scandal. Even Anne, another good egg, got divorced, though with a sight more decorum and dignity than King Tampon and Prince Peado.

Its costs nothing to be respectful. It's pretty childish to call people names.

A paedophile is an adult who is attracted to pre-pubescent children

volver Thu 01-Dec-22 10:38:21

And the King bit?

And grans say I'm rude....

There's no evidence about any princes in today's RF being attracted to pre-pubescent children.

FannyCornforth Thu 01-Dec-22 10:40:33

I didn’t think that I needed to given the definition of a tampon though

FannyCornforth Thu 01-Dec-22 10:41:25

Volver exactly my point re paedophilia

Do you know what I think it’s the press mischief making. The press seem to bent on wrecking the whole country and this another example . IMHO
