Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie has died at 79. I used to love that band and Chrissy in particular. Sad.

Timeless music - my youngster's favourite band, too - and she's 33.

Isn't it sad? I can't believe she was 79 though. In my head I see Fleetwood Mac as they were in the 70s.

RIP Christine. Rumours is still one of the best albums ever.

My favourite song ever is her version of ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ with Chicken Shack. RIP Christine.

That’s so sad. sad We saw FM in concert, although without Chrissie, some eight or nine years ago. It was an incredible evening. We had seats very close to the stage but no one sat down during the entire three hours! ❤️

Really sad. I remember seeing Chrissie when she was in Chicken Shack at the Samson & Hercules Norwich probably 1968 or 69. First live band I ever saw. Fantastic singer.

Very sad news. I too didn’t realise she was 79. RIP

I'm quite notorious for my view that any Fleetwood Mac without Peter Green is a cheap knockoff of a great band, and I'm standing stubbornly by that view colme what may. The greatest song to be recorded under the Fleetwood Mac name, in my humble opinion, is Man of the World.

But when Green's Mac were in there pomp there was another band in the same stable, Chicken Shack, whose lead singer Christine Perfect, the lass from Bouth in Lancashire, could take on one of the blues great Etta James's songs and do it better than Etta! Where Etta delivered it as bitter and angry, Christine was wistful and full of heartbreak. She never, again in my own opinion, recorded anytbing better.

She was a great songwriter, and her “Songbird” will remain one of my all time favourite tracks. RIP Christine.

I saw Peter Green in Oxford in concert with John Mayall, in I think 2002. Pete had just left residential care. Absolutely amazing. I’d Rather Go Blind with Chicken Shack, is my favourite song ever.

LadyHonoriaDedlock and Ladyleftfieldlover Totally agree with both of you. I was a massive fan both of the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green and Chicken Shack. I saw Peter a couple of times in the early 2000s, once with John Mayall and once with his Splinter Group. Fantastic both times. Funny but I never really took to the later Fleetwood Mac, I found the sound too pop although I appreciate the massive talent in the group.

Oh, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers - first time I saw them in the 60s in Oxford with a group of friends, we went to a pub afterwards - and I met DH!
