Case Blanca is 80 years old and timeless.

I’m currently reading Ingrid Bergman: My Story. Fascinating woman, I’m up to where she’s gone to Italy to be with Roberto Rossellini. And yes, Casablanca has absolutely held it’s appeal.

We have it on DVD and watch it about once a year. I've never seen it on the big screen though, and I'd like that.

Imagine if it had been made with Ronald Reagan instead of Humphrey Bogart as was planned - I don't think we would still be watching it somehow.

I thought Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca had an absolutely luminous beauty.

Don’t know what she saw in ‘Rick’ though, never saw Humphrey Bogart’s appeal.

Love this film, Bogard, Bergman, Raines, Greenstreet, Lorre, and Dooley Wilson .

Absolutely love Casablanca, a real old favourite. I've seen it umpteen times.

I love Casablanca. I often watch it, quite an interesting story of what was going on in the world at that time. I think the IB character made the right choice in the end. Now Maltese Falcon, I have watched that about 20 times and still don't understand what is going on.

I love Casablanca as well ,we have it on DVD. "As time goes by ", was one of the few songs my late FIL sang at Christmas when he had had a few drinks
. I love the end when they walk off to join the Free French even Claude Reine as the Gendarme. We all sit sniffing.
What a treat to see it on the big screen again.

We love Casablanca and watch the DVD at least once a year. As Time Goes By is also a favourite but the part I like most is when the French defiantly sing La Marseilles, it’s heart wrenching.

I also love the singing of La Marseilles.

My favourite all time actress though is Katherine Hepburn who always portrays a strong female in every part she plays. Her stoical natural character still came through in African Queen.

Though Keeley Hawes instead of Ingrid Bergman I personally can't see that working she's not classy or mysterious enough for me.

Oh, Now Voyager. These days the two lovers would just set up home together.

Let’s face it, Ingrid and Bette can’t be replaced, plus Celia Johnson in ‘Brief Encounter’.

Sometimes, the oldies and originals are the best.

For some reason I've never been able to get on with Katherine Hepburn - I think it's because her voice grates on me. The minute she starts speaking I want to turn her off. Having said that I agree she played some great parts. For the same reason I'm not too keen on Bette Davis either.

The appeal of Humphrey Bogart? Might it be that some of us like dark-looking, handsome in unconventional way men, who give off a slightly naughty bad boy aura? Robert de Nero, Al Pacino. I know my parents certainly thought I did and I've been with him for nearly 50 years.
