Baggs How on earth could Minibaggs not be loved. She is, like you, an extra special person. I also like the greeting that beautiful woofter has given her. Fondest love for Kintyre. XX

BlueSapphire I like your user name. I have also finished a mini mountain of last minute jobs. Time to relax and look forward to the Friday evening G&T.

Welcome back, dustyangel. We enjoy your company.

A tough day yesterday Hellogirlx
Let’s hope the latest drugs sort it out for good Yia.
I have bits and bobs defrosting everywhere, looking forward to seeing my son, his gf and her daughter tomorrow morning for present swaps. Then my daughter, Imogen and Finley descend after lunch for about 24 hours, magic!
Tree is watered, ham hock for dinner is done in the slow cooker, glass of white on the go.
Enjoy your evening all x

Hellogirl1 Fri 23-Dec-22 20:55:02

Yia, I hope that your son`s leg continues to improve, that`ll be an extra Christmas present for you all.
David brought a bit of truth to the old saying about being late for your own funeral, he was! Due to an accident in town, the roads all around were gridlocked, the hearse had to take the longer route to my DIL`s house, then the longer way to the cemetery. Everyone waiting had to suffer the rain a bit longer.

‘Evening All’

We’ve had a busy day. Helping out as you do at this time of year. Especially so as our teacher daughter has been wiped out with a virus/URTI. Her GP prescribed antibiotics yesterday on the 4th day. Belt & braces I think before Christmas weekend.

Anyway I helped over at hers. Wrapped the children’s parcels, put clean bedding on all beds. Took L’il Miss to a classmate’s 6th birthday party - ‘Dance Monkey’ disco music bopping around my head ...

Himself picked us up from the venue. As we dropped her back of home full of sugar and e-numbers I thought ‘I could do with a couple of paracetamol’! Himself suggested we call instead to see if we could get a table at 7pm at our favourite family run Italian. Yay! 2 wines were much more restorative than 2 tablets. We each chose rack of lamb, roasted potatoes and spinach with chilli and garlic. It was absolutely delicious and the place was rammed. The owner came to our table. He’s such a nice man. We’ve gone regularly since the first week they opened 3 years ago (not long before Covid hit, such a stressful time for them). We were given a drink ‘on the house’ and a VIP card to use entitling us to a 20% discount from next month.

I may just have my state pension paid direct to the restaurant ...
😁

Hello everyone. I’m reporting from my bed again! My daughter is now home. I picked her up from the station this morning. The only bit of Christmas cooking I did was to make the first part of the Elizabeth sauce which will be transformed with mayonnaise on Monday and become Coronation chicken. We all love it but I’ll leave some pieces of chicken plain for my granddaughter. We watched Motherland tonight, which was moving and hilarious. I hope all is well with those Grans with troubles.

There’s a lot of busy-ness about as well as some sadness. My thoughts are with anyone finding this time of year hard going. .

We’ve - finally - finished gathering bits of groceries we probably won’t need and plan a Christmas Eve sea front walk in the morning before a restful afternoon in front of the tv..

I’m preparing to feel a bit unnecessary at the main event on Sunday as our son is hosting us for Christmas Day and Mum is definitely not allowed in his kitchen. I’m more than pleased to be invited to share in the day with him and our granddaughters and will make up for idleness on Boxing Day when we’ll be at home without left overs.

A wish for the best Christmas it can be for you all along with a peaceful new year. The tree is one of those at Avebury Manor, beautifully decorated by a team of volunteers. I’ll be thinking of everyone with a special thought for those for whom it will be a bitter sweet time.

Sleep well everyone.

Hello dear Kitcheners, I have received some upsetting family news today. I’m not able to talk about it right now, especially when others are going through such tough times. I wish you all a peaceful Christmas and hope you find some happiness.

Nannytopsy Sat 24-Dec-22 04:14:56

Corner I was thinking what a beautiful house and tree you have !!
DH has had a cold for a couple of weeks but yesterday we started with tickly coughs. Is it or isn’t it? We have 18 coming on Boxing Day. What to do?

Blossoming I'm sorry to hear that you have had upsetting news. I hope all can be resolved.

Naughtyneine Sat 24-Dec-22 09:47:57

Blossoming... We are here when you are ready to share...in the meantime we will be thinking of you.
I am just having a restorative cup of tea. We threw a little gathering (10) last night... It was the neighbours we have become close to since we moved here 9 months ago. I spent the day coming and cleaning. ( I was playing catch up after 'losing' Wednesday at the hospital). It was a lovely evening.. The cottage looked so pretty too. The only mistake I made was to attempt to make a Cheese Christmas tree ball that I'd seen some woman called The Pioneer Woman make on the food channel ( I didn't even know it existed until I had that lurgy and for the first time I had the TV on during the day). Anyway I digress as usual....it looked very simple...cream cheese...cheddar cheese ...scallions etc... Whisk up then put the whole lot into a polybag and pop it into the freezer for 30 mins after which you can mould it into a Christmas tree shape and then roll it in parsley and decorate with pomegranate seeds ( that wasn't going to happen as I had a very unfortunate reaction to pomegranate years ago)...Anyway...after 30 mins... There was no way it was shaping into anything even closely resembling any sort of tree..So back into the freezer...and try again after an hour..two hours and then very shortly before people were due to arrive..I moulded this blob into a short squat shaped tree and rolled the b....y thing in parsley and put it on the table. Ladies 20 mins later it looked like one of those breasts that they use in antenatal classes ...flattened with a distinctly green nipple. Everyone was in fits when I explained I hadn't actually made a Christmas Boob!!!!! Apparently it tasted wonderful...I couldn't bring myself to try it.
I'll be back later for a catch up.

dragonfly46 Sat 24-Dec-22 10:13:25

So sorry to hear about your friend Anne.
Pleased you got through the day Hellogirl.
Blossoming not what you want at this time of year - I hope it can be solved.

Just popped in to wish every one a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and Healthy New Year.

Hellogirl1 Sat 24-Dec-22 12:44:36

soop Sat 24-Dec-22 13:06:49

Thank you, Pittcity for putting a smile on my face. You too, Naughtyneine

Blossoming I am also concerned for you. If you wish to share, please do. Us lot are here to listen if it helps you to talk about your concerns.

corner The tree is exquisite. Enjoy your Christmas Day stress-free from cooking for the family. Sounds ideal. And yes, Boxing Day will be as laid-back as we can make it. After which, deep breath, we'll be getting back the usual routine. For which we'll be glad.

Urms I enjoyed reading your post. I almost felt that I had shared your evening treat with you. The perfect way to end a fulsome, busy day.

Nannagarra Sat 24-Dec-22 13:51:40
