Wishing Mr & Mrs soop, & all the friendly folk in this warm, cosy kitchen, a very Happy New Year. I really hope that 2023 will be kind to us all.

Those are great photos, brook.

We watched the celebrations on TV, & heard the fireworks close to us here, ( we are spending a couple of days in Cambridge with DD & family).

Good health & happiness to you all. xx

Happy new year to all in the Kitchen x

Charleygirl5 Sun 01-Jan-23 17:02:51

soop no doubt you have snow in your neck of the woods so I would not be surprised if Sweetie Pie popped in for his usual meal or three. Where he puts it is beyond me. If the T is minus he may well spend the night in his cosy bed, rather warmer than a night in the woods.

Greciangirl Sun 01-Jan-23 17:17:56

Wow. You’ve only just put the heating on end of December.
Are you being frugal or just skint?

MawtheMerrier Sun 01-Jan-23 17:28:46

Happy and healthy new year to all dear Kitchener friends!

A happy new year to you all. I join in thanking Soop for creating this warm and cosy Kitchen. Also thanks to Mr Soop for the hug! And thanks to all of you with your kindness. It’s also lovely to see the population of the Kitchen growing - I’ve ordered another large sofa to be delivered, it’s duck egg blue velvet!

We had the GC (and parents) round today. 14mo GS seems to be recovering from a grotty cold that’s been hanging about since we’ll before Christmas. It was so nice to hear him talking his ‘scribble talk’ again and see his smiley face. GD helped us pull the last of the crackers. Dd is off work for another week so I’m sure we’ll see more of them. I shall put Christmas away tomorrow and get the place to rights again.

How’s your snow, Brooke? Is that your garden in the photos? It’s massive, do you have someone to help you with it? It snowed here quite a bit overnight but it has thawed today. It’s freezing now so we shall be very wary underfoot tomorrow.

We’re eating a few more left over snacks, then will catch up with some tv before bedtime. TOYA. XXX

‘Evening All’

We’ve enjoyed a lovely family afternoon eating & drinking over at our daughter and son in law’s house. It was perfect really in every way. Love and laughter shared between family members who genuinely get on well together and really do care about each other’s well being.

I came away at 6pm very grateful and thankful for all that we have.
I know how blessed I am and I don’t take it for granted.

I’d like to wish everyone in here all the very best for this new year. You are such a lovely bunch. You bookend my day on GN in the nicest way. x

Good evening everyone, we stayed up late last night and had a long lie in. Bacon rolls for brunch followed by a lovely walk down to the river. Blue skies and still water making beautiful reflections. It was bitterly cold, but still and dry and no ice. My first real walk for ages! Mr. B made a delicious tomato and mascarpone pasta sauce for supper, now snuggled up in my Oodie feeling warm and sleepy. Wishing you health, wealth and happiness for 2023.

brook2704 Sun 01-Jan-23 20:51:46

Sounds like a lovely family day Urms, like you say just perfect 😀

Oooh I love the new duck egg blue sofa SueD, just my colour and the velvet is so squishy, room for everyone. Yes thats our back garden in the snow, it probably looks a lot bigger in the photo than it really is as it backs onto a wood that thankfully we don’t have to bother with. We don’t have any help with it but gardening is my main hobby during the spring and summer months and I enjoy spending lots of time out there! There still lots of snow here but hopefully it’ll melt in a day or so.

brook2704 Sun 01-Jan-23 20:53:18

Thank you for the beautiful picture Blossoming so pleased you got out and enjoyed a walk today

Jaxjacky Sun 01-Jan-23 21:11:40

How serene Blossoming good you got out. Love your snow brook I know it can be a pain, but it looks beautiful.
Well Christmas has left our house, all gone, the tree did so well, barely a needle dropped, it’s being collected for recycling tomorrow. It’s been pouring down here, speaking to a friend in the New Forest earlier there’s lots of floods, standing water, soggy ponies.
A watch of Happy Valley, then bed, it’s my son’s 32nd birthday tomorrow, he was a home birth, I remember it well!
Enjoy your evening all x

Good evening Kitcheners. Lovely photos from Brook and Blossoming. My visitors are away and I'm lying on the couch watching Die Hard. The meal was a success. Only a few complaints from mum 😂
1. I asked her if she wanted a drink.she complained I usually asked her if she wanted a sherry so I asked her if she wanted a sherry. No she didn't. 🤐
2. She wanted a white wine but didn't actually drink it as it wasn't what she wanted.
3. My aunt made a cheesecake. Mum complained there was no alcohol in it. Aunt said it was mum's recipe. There is never alcohol in it.
4 Ditto the trifle I made. Where was the sherry? See above. She didn't like sherry.
5. After she had eaten her dinner she refused a tea or coffee, then asked for Christmas cake. When I said I didn't have any, she insisted on going home immediately.
6. She complained about being freezing the entire time. My heating was on all day, the oven was on. The rest of us were boiling. 😂🤐
She's a very difficult woman!
I don't let it bother me now as she's not a happy person. The rest of us had a good time. Have a good night kitcheners.

Happy New Year to all the Kitcheners. Wishing peace of mind for all those with troubles and anxieties, improvement of health for all those who are poorly and comfort for the lonely.
The kitchen is such a place so warmth for all. Thank you Soop

Blossoming Sun 01-Jan-23 22:31:08

GrandmaBatty you deal with your mother with such humour and patience. I hope you’re having a restful night x

brook2704 Sun 01-Jan-23 22:41:02

Oh dear grandmabatty your mum sounds hard work, you must have the patience of a saint! So pleased the rest of the family had a lovely time though

Grandmabatty Sun 01-Jan-23 22:51:56

Thank you ladies. I'm lying in bed now listening to audible and looking forward to a long lie.
