Thought I’d quickly say ‘hello’ to the new kitchen! I must go and have my shower (it’s gone noon!) my excuse is a very long day in London yesterday, culminating in scraping ice off my car in the station car park after midnight. It was a good day though. Younger son and I went to the Freud exhibition, then lunch, Tate Britain and finally my daughter’s choir. The concert was held in a Victorian church in Pimlico and it was freezing. Good concert though. I managed to drop my hat in a puddle.

Good Morning all
That's such good news Sue.
Food and drinks gallore in the kitchen. Yum. Thank you.

Our track is still very icy in places so I left a sign on the gate post for the Sainsbury's driver this morning, warning him. Did he see it? NO.... he skidded to a halt eventually.

My windscreen appointment for today was cancelled. Lack of staff. I'm rebooked for 22nd. Thank goodness for laminated screens. I remember the days when they shattered.

I did my foraging yesterday Jax. Wreath making will be underway after I have had a coffee. Good luck with your gathering.

I'm offering up broccoli and stilton soup today for all.

Hallo - I know I don't say much but I do creep in from time to time and sit by the fire. I also pinch the fine food and drink to be found here when I can.
I have put some warm cheese scones and butter on the side.

Pleased to hear news of your DC Sue. It is always a relief.

Not much happening here - went to Next to pick up a parcel only to find it hadn't arrived so will need to find something else to wear for the NWR party tonight.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners, just dropping by to say hello smile

soop Tue 13-Dec-22 16:15:58

SueD, your news regarding your daughter put a smile on my face.

Ali You have described our kitchen wonderfully well.

Naughty You should be a writer. I love your whacky sense of humour.

Yia Your festive gathering looks delightful. I well remember meeting with other grans (a long time ago) for similar jollies.

You lovely lot have been faaarrr to busy. I have achieved wondrous things hmm and as a result I am running late.

Oh, my word, the delicious buffet is far too tempting. I need to confess that, in the new year, I shall most def need to go on a strict diet. Problem is, the knee is painful. The pavements are icy and I dare not venture outside for fear of falling.

soop Tue 13-Dec-22 16:24:44

dragonfly and blossoming Thank you for joining us. Whatever it is that anyone wishes to share, for whatever reason, is why we have our kitchen.

I do wish that it could be "reality" and not "virtual". Having said that, would any of us ever do anything other than blether? Perhaps not. wink

Away to do an important job. I shall wish you all a cosy evening. Do take good care of yourselves. smile moon

Blossoming Tue 13-Dec-22 16:40:38

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. I have managed to post a few Christmas cards to friends and family living further away. Whether they will arrive by Christmas is another story! Others will be handed over when we see people. I’ve also managed to tackle a little more laundry and write a shopping list ready for tomorrow. I feel so lazy but I just can’t find the energy to do much right now. It’s far too icy to get out for a walk, I agree with you on that soop.

I hope all our invalids are on the mend.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 13-Dec-22 17:09:08

Good evening dear Kitcheners just sitting down with a lemon tart and a mince pie. I’ll leave some in the kitchen they are gluten free but my non gluten free hubby can recommend them. Just a little snack until Dh cooks a halibut Thai green curry yum!

Today I’ve been running around like a mad thing. Been to TKMaxx and bought a blingy top and a sparkly dress all for 52 quid. get in!!
dragonfly did you like your next tops?
I’ve had to go up a size as I’ve put a stone and a half on since lockdown but at least I’ll be comfy. 🤦

Just popped in to wish you all well. Take care out there it’s freezing here now. Sending my love to you all in the new cosy Christmas kitchen. 🌻🎄

gillgran Tue 13-Dec-22 17:34:14

Oh Great, a lovely new, friendly, warm & cosy kitchen. If you don't mind soop, I'll sneak into one of the recliner chairs or one of those that Sue has brought in.
It's very cold here in N., Cambs., freezing fog.

Lots of tasty food in this smart new kitchen too, ( lucky it's virtually calorie-free!) thank you.

Thinking of all of you, especially those with extra worries & sadness.
Take Care. x

kittylester Tue 13-Dec-22 18:35:52

Err, save me some gf goodies please. They don't come my way very often. Except a lovely friend also brought me a lemon and almond loaf yesterday. It has lemon icing to die for - I'll leave it with the others.

brook2704 Tue 13-Dec-22 18:45:20

Hello lovely kitchen pals, I’m Judy in from a very long lazy Christmas lunch with my friend, we had a delicious meal and shared a bottle of wine, just a perfect day really. DH was our chauffeur and we got door to door service - he’s so kind especially as the weather and roads today have been dreadful. We had a lot more snow this morning so it’s lying really thick now and not melting at all, the car temperature says minus 6º
So warm and cosy in the kitchen now, thanks for all the food, it looks very tempting. I’ll be down in Cambridge next week gillgran so hope it’s warmed up a bit by then

annsixty Tue 13-Dec-22 18:54:16

So pleased and relieved for you Sue with the better news about your daughter and wish for the same good news for your Son.
What lovely outings and meals some of you are having.
Enjoy them all.
Bitterly cold here after not too cold a day.
-3 on my phone.
I will stay in and keep warm and will spend “ the kids inheritance “ on keeping warm and getting the laundry dry.

‘Evening All’

Unlike Himself, I’ve not been out of the front door today but am I bovvered? Nope. I sorted a couple of my drawers in the bedroom and had a mini tidying session whilst listening to some soft jazz on Spotify. I opened a little bling purse I sometimes use on nights out and found £60 folded up in the zip part. Yay! Serendipity. Just love it.

We’ve eaten and Himself is watching football. I’m about to settle down with my binge-watch fest of The White Lotus on Sky Atlantic. I’m cosy and contented.
😊

annsixty your comment made me laugh! 😁

Jaxjacky Tue 13-Dec-22 20:54:33

Hi all, tree is up, joint effort, it’s full of stuff the children (eldest 36) and grandchildren made at play school and school, some falling to bits! But it’s our tree, with other trinkets that hold many memories. Out and about today, Imogen is poorly, sore throat, ulcerated mouth, being checked by me today as my daughter was at work, lots of bugs about, not just strep.
I’ll be glad when this cold spell ends, my Raynauds reacts badly.
Off to gather woodland bits at the weekend, I like holly and greenery in the house, not confident to tackle a wreath muse!
Enjoy your evening all x

soop Wed 14-Dec-22 12:58:42

gillgran We have several recliners, take your pick and enjoy your visit. smile

Jax that is a very colourful festive tree. I like decorations that are hand-crafted. The personal touch is heartwarming.
Get well soon, Imogen One of our great granddaughters had to go to hospital with breathing difficulties. Thankfully, she has returned home.

Urms Woop woop! What a find...just in time for Christmas. I shall have to check my pockets and purses. However, I know for certain that there will be nufink amazing lurking therein.

soop Wed 14-Dec-22 13:37:29

Blossoming I am also feeling "lazy". I shall get into another gear next week but I have no intention of stressing myself.

annsixty Very droll! wink

brook here in Kintyre we have plenty of frost but no snow. The peaks of the islands, Jura and Islay are snow-capped.

kitty Lemon and almond loaf sounds moreish. We've been buying bread (from Tesco) which includes cranberries and nuts of some kind.

Shazza photos of the blingy top are obligatory. Us nosy lot say so. grin

I shall be rooting for Morocco tonight. May I remind you that I am not a footie fan. It's just that I would like the underdog to triumph.

BlueBalou Wed 14-Dec-22 14:15:41

Hello everyone, ‘it’s still horribly icy here, I have no intention of budging from this kitchen until it thaws 😄
I have actually written (and DH has posted) the Christmas cards this morning! About blooming time really…..
Apart from that I have bought a few presents, the food delivery is sorted and it’s looking like a very quiet Christmas, just the two of us and DDog. I honestly don’t mind one bit!
DS and the family may be down between Christmas and New Year, if they don’t come then I will pop their presents in the post after Christmas.
DH has slipped and slithered to the village and back, I have cleaned around and cooked lunch - there’s a heart beef stew with dumplings in the stove for you all.
I hope you all have a lovely day 🤗

Yiayia4 Wed 14-Dec-22 14:51:54

Afternoon all.Like your tree Jax it’s nice to have decs with lots of memories. We also have lots of trinkets for the tree that go way back. I’m feeling rubbish at the moment.I’ve done 2 covid tests and both negative so must be a virus that that GS has.Not nice, need rid of it so much to do before Christmas.I think you may have the same Grandmabatty get well soon.

Have a good evening everyone.

annsixty Wed 14-Dec-22 15:08:14

Another one here not well.
I don’t have flu or Covid symptoms though, just an overwhelming tiredness and joint pains.
No incentive or impetus to do anything.
I cancelled a friend’s visit yesterday and probably cancel lunch out tomorrow.
I need putting in a bag and shaking up as my mother would say.
I have to get a room and beds ready for my D and GD coming for three nights on Monday.
I wish I had the courage to cancel but I don’t.
The older your C are the more difficult it is to relate to them or is that only my experience?
My D is 57 and has lived her own life for very many years.
We are no longer like mother and daughter any more than I was with my own mother.
I was 69 when she died.

brook2704 Wed 14-Dec-22 16:06:12

Good afternoon kitchen pals, another snowy wintry day here in Inverness. I’ve been to the gym for a dance around and then a dip in the pool, the water was so lovely and warm too, just like getting into a bath. Its so worthwhile paying my gym membership fees at this time of year
Your tree is beautiful Jax and full of happy memories. Sorry to hear Imogen’s not too well, hope she’s better soon
annsixty, grandmabatty and yia so sorry to hear you’re all feeling bad, I really hope things improve a bit soon, take care all
Soop you’re lucky not to have the snow but how nice to be able to see the snow capped peaks of Jura and Islay from your window, I bet they’re so beautiful this time of year
DH is cleaning the inside of the windows for me, I’m sat here on the sofa . But I did pop out into the garden to feed the birds and took a few pictures of the snow and icicles brrrr 🥶

gillgran Wed 14-Dec-22 16:36:08

brook, that's some "Winter Wonderland" you have there!
Our little bit of snow is still hanging around, frosty, although the fog has cleared today. Forecast for much milder after the weekend.

My DH has had 4 out of the 5 days of restricted eating in preparation for a long awaited procedure tomorrow. He felt unwell last night, & this morning did a Covid test, (just-in-case, & to rule-it-out)! & yes, he is +positive+.....He has waited 6 months for this & now has to go back on the waiting list, Hopefully he will hear again early in the new year.
We've been almost the only ones in our family to not have had Covid, feeling quite smug..........until now!! sad
I'm OK, keeping my fingers crossed!

Take care, all, especially those of you who are down or have extra worries.

soop Wed 14-Dec-22 16:38:17

Dear you lovely lot, I've been back to my bed. The pain around my hernia is grim. I shall return tomorrow.

Continue to stay safe and keep warm. smile moon

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 14-Dec-22 17:30:41

Oh Soop. I’m so sorry to hear you’re in pain and back in bed. I do hope you can speak to a doctor tomorrow.

I had my hair cut today and my hairdresser said I must have the roots done in the New Year. Actually I must go and get ready. It’s the WI Christmas dinner tonight and we’re being picked up by the restaurant minibus at 6.15 pm.

For Soop 🌺🍩💐🍪🌻🌺

Hellogirl1 Wed 14-Dec-22 17:44:55

So sorry that you`re in pain Soop, I hope you get sorted very soon.
I love those snow pics from Inverness, but not enough to want snow here!
Annsixty, I hope you`re soon feeling much more chipper.
The celebrant for David`s funeral came this afternoon, he was a very nice man, easy to talk to. A few of the family came round.

cornergran Wed 14-Dec-22 17:49:00

Oh heck, soop, hope that pain eases quickly and there is some help with it.

Another under the weather person here. Not serious, minor cold symptoms and constant nausea which I am sure is good for my waistline as I have no desire to eat anything. If I didn’t know better I’d think I was in the early stage of pregnancy grin.

A hug for all poorly folk. Stay warm everyone. TOYA.
