I’ve had a lovely lunch out with a friend today, but boy it was cold, the wind is keen, as we had a late lunch, MrJ is fending for himself for dinner.
Football in a few minutes, allez les bleus.

‘Evening All’

We’ve had a lovely day out and abouting. I went for a manicure this morning. I almost cancelled but glad I didn’t as I’ve now got shiny red ‘smartie’ nails for Christmas. Dropped off tins of M&S shortbread biscuits for the staff at the dental surgery, the GP surgery and our fantastic independent pharmacy below us. We are so lucky to have had great support during difficult times.

Home for coffee then, spur of the moment said ‘let’s go to the Trafford Centre!’ (not usually something you’d hear me say. Anyway, on the bus, in the sunshine and 10 minutes later we were mooching. All Christmas shopping had already been done but I went into Lakeland and bought a posh German pepper mill (which will ‘see me out’ as the saying goes), a pair of gorgeous soft leather grey gloves from John Lewis and I stocked up with Clarins and Neal’s Yard products.

Got off the bus and dived into Bevano for 2 Pinot Grigio blush wines, as you do when you’re happy with life. Was surprised to see another new restaurant is opening here in a Urmston this Sunday, just round the corner. A tapas place. As we walked past, having a nosy as you do, the owner’s wife came to the door and invited us in for a )look around’. Very impressive. A local couple too apparently. I’ve texted the family!

Sorry to hear about our poorly folk tonight in the kitchen. I do hope you’re all a lot better soon, well in time for Christmas. Love the photos brook! x

soop, I am sorry you are in pain. It's not good enough.

Sending hugs to everyone else suffering from sadness or ill health.

Good evening dear Kitcheners, it has been really cold here all day. No snow but roads and pavements are very icy. I still haven’t been out, Mr. B did the shopping and drew out some cash for me. I’m having my hair done on Friday and need to pay cash, so I transferred some funds to Mr. B. I’m sorry you’re having such problems Soop, I hope you don’t have to wait much longer for some relief.
Sending healing thoughts to Annsixty, Grandmabatty and all under the weather.
Love the photos Brook

Soop So sorry in are in such pain. Keep warm, cosy and safe in bed. Hopefully you will get something to ease the pain tomorrow from one of your appropriate contacts. flowers

Grandmabatty Wed 14-Dec-22 19:53:34

Sorry to hear that you are in pain Soop. I hope it can be remedied soon.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 14-Dec-22 19:57:49

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Hope you are all staying warm.

Brook those photos are stunning. We just have heavy frosts no snow but ooh the cold 🥶

gillgran i’m so sorry your DH is down with covid. Not good timing but I hope he gets through it ok. Just about everyone I know has had it now apart from my mum, dad and stepmum and my son in China.

Soop hope the discomfort goes from around your stoma soon I remember my mum in law having to take to her bed with a water bottle when she had a flare up. Her hernia was so heavy though which caused a lot of her pain.

Urms you sounded like my mum there she always says ‘it’ll see me out’ 😂

I’ve put a pic on of my new year dress it has shiny shades of Emerald green and there is a blingy necklace. It looks better on than it does on the hanger. The black top is totally sequinned which I’ll wear with either red or burgundy jeans for my birthday in January and possibly over Christmas 🌻

dustyangel Wed 14-Dec-22 20:06:14

soop I’m not a football fan either and now that the UK and Portugal are out I’ve lost interest but I said to DH earlier “Who are we supporting tonight?“ He said, Anyone except France. grin
I’ll catch up with you all now.

Jaxjacky Wed 14-Dec-22 20:08:01

PS Imogen is back to school tomorrow, feeling much better.
Very chic Shazza nearly makes me wish I wore winter dresses and snazzy tops, I said nearly..I’m sure you’ll look stunning.

Urmstongran Wed 14-Dec-22 20:16:02

Ha! Your husband’s comment made me laugh ‘dusty angel’!

Himself made me giggle too today. The bus we were on lurched as we made our way to the seat. Himself said ‘no worries, I used to work on the waltzers’.
🤣
Hehe!
I do remember those ‘fit’ fairground lads who always seemed a bit intimidating with their cockiness, balance, muscles and tattoos!

I love your new clothes Shazza! We have a TKMaxx a ten minute walk away on the retail park. I’ve never been in, in all these years - I don’t know why. Possibly because it’s on the corner to the Trafford Centre where I’m usually (but not often) headed really.

These are my lovely manicure nails! I’ve been going to the same girl since she was 20y. She’s 36y now! We were laughing today how I followed her round till she eventually set up on her own with her own salon.

dustyangel Wed 14-Dec-22 20:38:17

Lovely Christmassy nails Urms., My Daughter had beautiful nails this last weekend , a slightly darker red but with a Happy Reindeer face on the third finger of each hand. I’ll have to ask her to send me a photo. I feel happy that she can spend some money on herself now.
Mmm, I used to fancy the fairground boys. blush

dustyangel Wed 14-Dec-22 20:40:16

soop I’m sorry that you are in such pain, I hope it passes quickly.

brook2704 Wed 14-Dec-22 21:17:01

Love the sparkly outfits Shazza I bet you’ll look stunning in those

And your nails too Urms love the colour, they’re just right for Christmas celebrations

Blossoming Wed 14-Dec-22 21:28:31

Love the glam outfits Shazza and those nails Urms. Glad Imogen is feeling better Jax.

Naughtyneine Thu 15-Dec-22 14:44:11

Hiya ladies... It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas....with sparkly clothes and pretty nails. I bet you all sang those first few words!!!!. It was minus 6 when I went to Mass this morning..I was very tempted not to go but the tragedies in Solihull and the Channel made me want to go. Then onto meet the group I've christened the rebel girls. I was having a bit of a down day a couple of months ago and I made myself pop into the local tea room and a group of ladies were sitting close by and I was cheered up by their gossip and tale telling and proclamations of being rebels. When I was leaving I thanked them for lifting my spirits and they invited me to join them once a month. I've gathered the greenery for the wreath that should have been done days ago but I can't bring myself to make it on the table in the garden. (I would do it indoors but worry about stray pine needles getting up the dogs paws). My lot are like children... If there is something to hurt themselves on they'll find it. My cards have all been posted...the lady in the PO advised me to put them in a post box rather than leave then with her as collections were being made more regularly from the boxes!!!.
Gillgran ...what as Soop would say...a buggeration about your DH... Maybe a can to the consultants secretary when he is clear might speed things up a bit.
Soop ...I am sorry you are in pain. Is there not some sort of special pants available to help....like spanx I think they are called... Maybe in a larger size than you would normally wear too accommodate the bag but with enough support to hold the hernia.
I made some spiced pickled pears earlier this year and they are just ready to be eaten with some blue cheese... I've popped some on the side for you to try.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 15-Dec-22 15:26:26

Hello everyone. I hope Soop is more comfortable. I made a batch of bread sauce today. When cool it will be frozen ready for Christmas. I also made a new recipe to take to a Christmas social I’m going to this evening. It was in the Radio times. Sponge cake mixture topped with meringue mixture and baked. Sandwiched with cream, raspberries and grapes. It looks good so I hope it tastes good! Talking about bread sauce… at the WI dinner last night bread sauce was not served with the Turkey. A splodge of cranberry sauce, which I don’t eat. Gosh it’s cold! I can see the Primary School children walking home from school in their woolly hats and rosey cheeks. Have a good evening.

Baggs Thu 15-Dec-22 15:49:45

Oh, soop! ☹️ Hope you get some relief. Sending hugs xx

Just taken the car down the hill. Snow is expected tonight and no snow plough will be coming up our hill.

brook2704 Thu 15-Dec-22 16:25:06

Just back home in the warmth after a day shopping. I had a few last minute things to get and I’d not intended being out this long but the time flew past. I met DD2 in Smyths toys for just half an hour, honestly those DGC are getting so many presents! I think it’ll be the last year though that they still believe in Father Christmas as DGS is 9 now and DGD will be 8 tomorrow so they must be beginning to wonder ….
Soop hoping things are a bit better today
llfl well done to you both with all the baking - you’ll definitely get my vote for star baker
Thanks for the pears neine
Latest weather news from Inverness is that we’ve had yet more snow and the icicles are getting longer!

brook2704 Thu 15-Dec-22 16:31:00

Hope you don’t get snowed in baggs hoping you keep warm. A good idea to move the car though. DH couldn’t get our car out of the garage this morning without a big snow shovel!
Sending ❤️ to you, your DD and her family, I often think of you too

soop Thu 15-Dec-22 17:53:45

I appreciate you lovely lot more than words can express.

Some truly stunning photos. All very festive. Shazza...wow! You will sparkle.

Gillgran So sorry to hear about the delay in your husband's long awaited procedure. A buggeration with bells and whistles.

Urms You have beautiful nails. Mine are very short. When I "go out" I add a layer of natural nail polish. Yours are positively classy.

Hellogirl Tender hugs from both of us. flowers

I've been back to my bed this afternoon. Lower back pain and hernia discomfort put me there. I'm hoping for some positive assistance from the person who is to phone me tomorrow afternoon. The circumference of the hernia is approx 17".

I apologise for not having responded to all your messages. Will try to catch-up tomorrow.

Remain safe. Especially when driving on snowy roads and negotiating icy pavements. smile moon

Thank you for all the kind wishes for my family, it’s so lovely to have this dear community. ❤️

Soop I am sorry you’re suffering and hope that they can do something to help you. flowers

Anyone else who is under the weather has my best wishes too. flowers

It’s still bitterly cold here but today I managed to open all four doors on my car. On Tuesday, none of them would open! We’re forecast snow tomorrow, though I think it will warm up a bit after that.

Today was visit-the-dentist-day, thankfully we both got an all clear for the next six months. Then I did some shopping for presents to send overseas and for my 1yo GS up the road. That was easy - who wouldn’t want a garish plastic Fisher Price construction site set, complete with bulldozers, boulders and things that go BEEP BEEP? grin

I hope everyone stays snug and warm. TOYA. XXX

dustyangel Thu 15-Dec-22 18:36:55

What a shame Maw, Covid seems to be hitting people as they’re tired and stressed. I hope your daughter has a mild dose and recovers quickly.
Beautiful tree, it looks very Christmassy,

I like the idea of getting a tiny real tree next year.

Had a nice surprise yesterday when a friend and neighbour dropped in a present of a tiny homemade Christmas cake. I must have looked a little worried as we don’t usually do presents, so she told me hat having tasted one made by someone at her church, she couldn’t resist buying one only to realise that she is going back to UK on Friday for three weeks. She hope to put Christmas temptations firmly behind her when she returns.
