That sounds like a lovely day for you Brook. I hope things are well with Urms stepfather. All the washings done, bedding changed and most of the housework done. Just as well as dd asked if I would have the boys for a couple of hours tomorrow. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

All good pals and jolly good company.
A warm welcome to you all. Please make yourselves comfortable.

Hi Blossoming I hope you’re feeling a little better today. Also that you’ve recovered from your unsettling visit BladeAnnie.
A quiet few days here with little going on, Imogen is on a practice walk tomorrow prior to her DofE, finding their way to a base with a compass. The weather looks pretty dire, it’ll be good practice, I think the actual DofE sessions are on the South Downs, ‘they take our mobile phones Grandma’!!
I really hope today went well today Urmstongran and that your stepfather has a gentler weekend with uninterrupted sleep.
Enjoy your evening all x
Hope you all have an enjoyable evening.
A very belated Happy birthday Kitty. Hope you had a lovely day.
Hope all went well today Urms and your DSF is now comfy.
It’s been an emotional week we have renewed our wills and sorted Power of attorney.Much needed but very sobering!Anyway onwards and upwards.
Have a good evening all sleep well.
Our POA’s are just through the Office of the Public Guardian, a letter came telling us by mid January the process will be finished. It gave quite a jolt yiayia, sobering indeed.
I’ve been wondering about urms stepfather and hoping all has gone well today.
Mr C has had an appointment arrive for a heart procedure in our nearest city at 8.30am. We’ll need to leave at 7am, latest. Oh heck. I’m not sure what concerns me the most, the procedure and it’s outcome or the practicalities of a city centre hospital with no car park. I’m bordering phobic about driving in that city but will need to do it. I’ll put on a brave, smiley face while inside I’ll be a jelly.
We’ve been having a bit of a sort out. Several bags to a charity shop and a boot full to the recycling centre. It is very satisfying. Mr C has agreed to part with no less than 11 jigsaws from his collection of 50+. The loft is very grateful.
Take care everyone. Sleep well tonight. TOYA.

Thanks you fantastic bunch for popping in to ask after Duncan. He’s had his bag of blood today and actually looked quite pink in the face when we finally got discharged at 6pm. Nine hours on the unit in total! Sat waiting, mostly, in a little room with 3 other fellow ‘drip merchants’. Honestly we’ve all shared some laughs today - you wouldn’t believe how we’ve swapped stories, howled with laughter and felt a genuine camaraderie between us all.
They do say laughter is the best medicine don’t they?
For good reason I think.
😊
He has been given an urgent ENT appointment there for Monday too so that’s good. The bleeding might continue over the weekend but then again, with the nasal cream and no obvious trauma indicating cauterisation, it might just stop. Who knows? At least he’s been topped back up with what was very definitely needed! We have our fingers and toes crossed till Monday. I’m tired, he must be shattered. Actually he’ll be asleep now. x
Urmstongran hopefully onwards and upwards 😘
Thanks for the update Urms, hope he has a good weekend x
That's sounding like much better news Urms
cornergran I obviously do not know where this hospital is but if there are no parking facilities would it be possible to park outside the city and get a taxi to the hospital?
Could you do a dummy run on Sunday to get your bearings? I cannot think of anything else as I am assuming it is a distance away and would cost a fortune to taxi door to door and then home again.
TOYA
BladeAnnie I hope Duncan did not get dumped in the loft, hiding in boxes! He really is gorgeous.
Thats really good news Urms thanks for the update
Hoping all goes well tomorrow for your DH corner and the driving is ok too - a 7am start is maybe the best time to travel on a Saturday morning so you might miss a bit of traffic ? fingers crossed anyhow
Ive become a bit addicted to doing online jigsaws on the iPad - I find it really relaxing and much easier now than the real thing. I’ve still got one proper jigsaw on the go though that I’m determined to finish, it’s 1000 pieces and about half done but I’m only managing a few pieces a day as it’s so dark and dismal in the evenings here. When I put the light on it casts a shadow so that’s not much good either!
Enjoy your time with the DGSs tomorrow grandmabatty I bet they’ve missed you over the holidays
Missing soop here today - hoping the celebrations in the village went well! 🥂🎉🍷
Oh apologies corner I’ve realised it’s probably not a Saturday appointment for your DH, charley has a really good idea though with the taxi
Good news urns, had to pop back to check if you’d been able to post.
Thank you all for the thoughts about Mr C’s appointment. It’s not for two weeks, plenty of time for me to fret about it. Yes, we’d thought about abandoning the car on the outskirts and getting a taxi. Trouble is I keep telling myself I should be able to do this and indeed will have to, if all goes to a very loose plan there will be another three appointments following close behind. It could be a good one to practice with as it’s so early. I’m less stressed about it now. I need to be as it’s not fair for Mr C who is being very calm about a procedure I know I’d hate.
A taxi the whole way is about £70, so £140 round trip. A definite reason for me to get over my anxiety! It is interesting though that the medics have no idea how difficult travelling can be. The Registrar we saw last time just beamed and said didn’t we live in a pleasant place. Wouldn’t argue with him - pleasant doesn’t get us to the flipping hospital. I know many folk, including our soop, have much more challenging journeys so I’ll stop grizzling - for now
.
Goodnight everyone. Sleep well.
Excellent news Urms, onwards and upwards.
Hope you SF is having a good night Urms and recovers over the weekend.
I can’t sit down without falling asleep at the moment. Well, for weeks! I think it’s laziness and an ironing avoidance strategy.
Sleep tight everyone 💤
Tip toes into our kitchen having missed an entire day yesterday. We attended our good pal's 83rd birthday party. The house was bursting at the seams. So much blethering and laughter, not forgetting party food fit for a royal banquet. When we eventually arrived home, I slipped into my 'jamas and didn't have the energy for any other activity. Hope that I'm forgiven.
BladeAnnie Your Duncan is doing exactly what all felines do with aplomb. A box, no matter how large or small is a gift. I love your photograph.
Urms Please continue to update us with news of your stepfather. He has been through a traumatic experience. Us lot wish him well.
benjamina I chuckled when I read your amusing post.
Blossoming Please continue to drink plenty of water. Stay warm and relax. Sending you get-well hugs.
corner Do you have a close friend or neighbour who would be prepared to take your and your husband to the hospital. You could offer to pay for the fuel and give the driver a thank you gift.
Urms Much better news. Thank you for sharing with us.
It's good to have your company, farview and Catterygirl.
A pal has donated a luxurious cat bed to Sweetie Pie. Her own cat refused to use it. That's cats for you.
It is now in the apartment with Sweetie Pie's favourite blanket draped over it. In spite of Mr Soop having purchased freshly cooked chicken from the village shop, he hasn't visited as he usually does. There is still plenty of time. There is also plenty of diced chicken.
I have ironing to attend to. I shall return thereafter.
Miserable day here in Dunblane so having a lazy day. Had a rake in the freezer this morning right down to the bottom to see what needs using up. Quite a lot actually
. Stir fry for dinner with chicken pieces from freezer and also apple cake from freezer! Help yourselves to some fruit loaf.
It’s been quite a sunny day here in Inverness but with a cold wind. I should have been out tidying up in the garden but DD2 and DGS called round for lunch and we spent most of the afternoon playing monopoly - like you do with many a 9 year old I expect!
Anyhow they’ve just left now so I’m going to recover this evening in from of the TV with a 🍷
So pleased you had such a good day yesterday and enjoyed the celebrations soop it sounds like such a lovely village that you live in. I hope Sweetie Pie enjoys his new luxurious surroundings too 🐈
Lovely to see you here Scalpal and thanks for the fruit loaf, one of my favourites
‘Evening All’
We’ve had a very restful day. L’il Miss didn’t come over to play as her brother’s football match got cancelled owing to torrential rain this morning. Then we had an early cooked meal as we thought we were babysitting tonight but that got cancelled too for various reasons. To be honest I’m delighted. I’ve had a quiet day. I’ve chatted for ages on the phone to 3 good friends this afternoon and had a great catch up session with each of them.
I’m warm, cosy and full of good food. I’d love some chocolate right now but hey, you can’t just have everything in life!
Himself has put back our flights till Wednesday. It’s a gamble whether we go at all, just fingers crossed! My stepfather has an ENT appointment on Monday morning at Wythenshawe and, best news of all, no nosebleed again last night again - so that’s two nights in a row. Maybe the Naseptin cream is doing its job?
I’m showered and in fresh pj’s and settling down now to watch some more Happy Valley. I’m a happy bunny tonight.
😊
I do love The Kitchen. We can share our troubles as well as our joys. It’s a comforting haven isn’t it? soop makes it so.
❤️
Good evening Kitcheners. I have had both boys since twelve and they aren't long away so I'm relaxing with a Cointreau while the chicken is roasting. I've put the house back together after the boys destroyed it. 😂 Dgs1 told me I was his best friend and I was momentarily chuffed until I realised I had given him chocolate from the tree. 😂 Dgs2 was a happy wee soul but is struggling with constipation. I think I'll get prune juice and make him ice lollies for Monday and Tuesday. Brook playing board games sounds such fun. I look forward to that in the future. Soop Sweety pie is a lucky cat!
Urms I'm glad to hear that your stepdad is slightly improved and the nosebleeds have decreased. What a worry for you. I love the relationship between you all.
Our lads gave us a personalised Monopoly set for our 40th wedding anniversary. Each side of the board relates to the four places we have lived in during our married life and the Chance and Community Chest cards all relate to family things. It was a great present!!
Mumofmadboys what a wonderful present!
