Yes, definitely indoor, brook. The swimming pool on the other side of the loch has been rebuilt and is very nice. The friend I went swimming with yesterday goes for a plunge in the loch most weekends as well though.
The mother of one of Minibaggs's school friends swam over 100 miles in the loch last year raising funds for a Royal Marines charity (!) but, given that I got cold when scuba diving in the Gulf of Thailand, I reckon it's not for me.

Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen for kindly folk...
(1001 Posts)Here we are again
All good pals and jolly good company.
A warm welcome to you all. Please make yourselves comfortable.

All my best wishes to your son, SueDonim, and to your daughter Baggs, please let everything go OK.
Soop, I well remember the joys of a leaking stoma from when my hubby had one!
Can I echo soop's please for everyone to sit still for a while so I can cope. I have been poorly you know!
Good on resuming the swimming baggs. I really dislike being in the water so I am really impressed.
Sorry to hear about the stoma 'issues', soop, that must be a real buggeration. Hope the painting doesn't prove to be one too.
Good luck with the flights, urms. Enjoy the shopping.
We picked the children up today and had a very excited Persie telling us about singing with Heather Small at a schools event in Birmingham. Wolfie announced that 'Birdingum' is a very long way away
Im definitely an indoor swimmer too baggs but I do admire the ladies who whatever the weather go for a swim outdoors. There’s a group I know who meet every Saturday morning on the beach at Nairn for a dip in the Moray firth - absolutely freezing but they seem to enjoy it!
🥰 love Wolfie!
We took a very excited DGS to school today, with all the kit for his first school swimming lesson. He has new grommets, so there were ear plugs, a head band and a swim hat. DGD was deliberately uninterested!
Another wet day but tomorrow should be better and the gardener is coming. I hope we can get tidy!
It’s sausage and mash for tea, so off I go to start the potatoes.
Stay safe everyone.
Commiserations to all those suffering. Life can be a b***h, can’t it?
OH and I attended the annual U3A January Japes. Delicious food and an excellent magician as the entertainment! I’m about to set up Zoom for my weekly get together - one of has covid so we can’t meet in person this week, have a good evening.
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! I'm trying to keep up with all your news, we've had a lot of busyness since New Year... hospital visiting ( DFriend had amputation in December), extra babysitting for DGD due to the school strike, usual childcare with DGS2 and now the joy of new baby visiting as my DSis1's beautiful granddaughter arrived on Sunday, two weeks early, and was home on Monday! I was in hospital for 10 days with my first baby but that was nearly 50 years ago...
Soop, you are still very industrious and productive in spite of your misbehaving stoma, well done you! And your wonderful MrSoop, what a guy!
I'm thinking especially of SueD and Baggs and their Dear AC, hoping and praying that the treatment goes well for them. So glad to hear that YiaYia's DS is gradually improving. 🙏🕯
Kitty, it sounds like you are regaining your strength day by day, good news!
Maw, a few days of cosying up with Rosie, plus bedtime hot toddies ( entirely medicinal, of course!) should restore you to good health.
Urms, I hope your DSF continues to recover, and you and DH make it to Spain soon.
Thinking of those with worries, illness or sorrow.
Congratulations to those celebrating birthdays, anniversaries or new arrivals.
Safe journey to those travelling, on holiday or visiting family.
TOYA, NNGB.
SueDomin and Baggs, sending hugs and wishing you both strength as you carry on supporting your children.
Maw I wish you well too , I hope you feel much better soon. Be very careful with that honey and lemon, it’s dangerous stuff. The last time I attempted to have some, I tripped on the way back to bed and the Pyrex cup that I had the warm mixture in broke and cut my leg. I had to call an ambulance out! This was years ago and I can’t remember where DH was, I think he must have been in England. I was more concerned with getting some underwear on before the ambulance arrived
. Anyway having been stitched up, I was waiting for an ambulance home again and one of the doctors heard me coughing and sent out a prescription for bronchitis. The moral is keep snug and warm but don’t let it get too bad before seeking medical help.
soop I hope you get your support sorted out soon, it must be so uncomfortable.
Urms fingers are firmly crossed for your stepfather to have another good night and for you to be able to get away for a week or so. Does your stepfather have anyone else that he is able to call upon?
Inspired by the photograph of Baggs’s new swimming costume, I decided that I need to lose a few pounds. All was going well ( 1 day) until I forgot, joined DH in a glass of wine this evening and finished up the Christmas almonds which had been dipped in caramel.
Best laid plans etc…
Called upon by DS4 to take GD 5yr v and 3yr old f out for dinner and bedtime story as he and DiL had a pressing appointment. We went to our local holiday turkish restaurant, the GC are treated like VIP’s
I am now collapsed on sofa, awaiting The Apprentice.
(((Hugs))) to all in need 🌸🌸🌸
News of Panache
Many long term Kitcheners will remember Panache a lovely lady who used to post here often. I have received a PM from her today and tried to copy and paste it but couldn’t so I’ve attached two screen shots of her message. Hope those who remember her can read it ok.
Honestly, I don’t think you lovely folk can possibly know how much your lovely messages mean to me. I hesitated originally about even sharing about my DS on here but I’m glad I did because your kindness has helped buoy me up. That support also comes from Baggs, Hellogirl and Kittylester, who have their own concerns, shows just what a great place this cosy kitchen is. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
Soppiness over and back to today.
Dh had an eye test appt. He’s been having a problem with his glasses and glory be, the new optician seemed to instantly twig what the issue was (he has an unusual prescription) and hopefully the new glasses will put that right. It feels such a win, doesn’t it, when you realise someone understands what you’re telling them. So, new specs in two weeks.
I had a beauticians appointment and now have my red glittery Christmas nails replaced with a deep pinky/purple. I can’t stop admiring them.
I haven’t done much else today but I feel as though I’ve achieved a lot, so I’ll take that. 👍
Dusty your tale of woe reminds me of when I broke my leg. We were going on holiday the next day so I had some old and tatty underwear on. The shame when I had to have my undies cut off by the A&E staff!
Soop that sounds a difficult day for you. I hope tomorrow is better.
I hope your SF continues to do well, Urms and that you get away to the sun asap.
Xx
Cross posted. Poor Panache, she’s had her troubles, but her spirits sound cheerful. Best wishes to her!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Panache, poor lady, what a lot she has been through but she is still hopeful and positive!
Thank you for the news from Panache Doodle, a tough time for her, but good to have news, I miss her posts.
Brave swimming Baggs you’ll get back into it, thinking of your family as well as those of SueD.
Stoma buggerations indeed soop another medal for your Mr. he’ll fall over with weight of them all!
Another day of rain down south, but I got out and finished my trips to shops and the library, MrJ was out playing bowls this evening, happy his team won.
Enjoy the rest of your evening all x
Thank you Doodle for passing on the news from Panache, wishing such a kind lady all the very best and hoping things improve soon
A late visit and goodness I echo soop and kitty, what busy lives you all have.
My very best wishes to you and your daughter, baggs along with you and your son, sued.
A hug for panache, I’m sad she’s had another mountain to climb.
A very dear friend had similar stoma incidents soop, I hope the last for you and the anticipated physical hernia support will keep such things at bay.
Good to hear you sound stronger kitty. Hope those germs are soon on their way maw. Wishing your stepfather an uneventful night urms and hoping your flights are booked.
The wind is sending horizontal rain onto the bedroom window again. Flood alerts arriving in the early hours prompted a quick look at our little river during a break in todays torrents. The river is to the top. Thankfully the flood protection work carried out about 9 years ago is coping admirably, excess water is being diverted into a man made flood plain. Definitely worth the horrible construction summer full of dust and noise which wouldn’t have been necessary had the planners refused permission for major building on the natural flood plain further up stream. That’s progress for you!
It’s been a hiding from the weather few days. A dry day is forecast tomorrow, we’ve been trying to work out where we could go for a walk and not be blown over by the force of the wind. Something will occur for sure, just not certain what at the moment.
Sleep well everyone. TOYA.
Thanks for passing on Panache’s message, Doodle - she has had so much to deal with.
It’s still very windy here in Suffolk. The ‘gardener’ ( aka young man with strong back but not a clue!) is coming in a couple of hours. I’m hoping we can get tidy and finally clear up the leaves.
Hope you have a better day soop.
Thank you Doodle for letting us know about Panache. She's had so much to deal with. Suedonim and Baggs I wish your children all the best with their treatment.
Today has been a good one, so far. I've been to Aldi and made lentil soup. My shower has also been replaced! It's only taken three weeks. No wonder folk were keeping their distance 😂.
I'm not sure what I'll do this afternoon. The weather seems to have brightened up so I might get into the garden to begin tidying it up for Spring. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.
I’m so glad I popped into the kitchen today. Thank you for posting Panache’s message to us all Doodle.
She is an amazing lady and extremely brave. Her last paragraph resonates with me.
Muse it's so nice to hear from you.
Popped into our kitchen. Flabberghasted that there are so many messages from you lovely lot. Therefore, as it's time for lunch, please excuse me until later this afternoon. I think that you are all the TOPS.
Hello everyone. Why is it so cold! It looks beautiful outside. I drove over to see my 90 year old aunt in her Home for Dementia patients. I hadn’t seen her since before the pandemic but her condition had worsened considerably hence the Home. I think she recognised me, but only became animated when I mentioned my late father who died over forty years ago! She said that he was a very naughty boy. So a difficult visit. Once or twice there were glimmers of how she used to be. A smile when I gave her daffodils and chocolates and a laugh when I told her that I was getting old. One of the nurses asked what she used to be like and I said she had been beautiful.
Afternoon Kitcheners.*Doodle*many thanks for the news on Panache.I do so hope she starts to improve.
Lovely to see you in the kitchen Grandmarie and Muse.
Just had my hair done, roots and a trim, love my hairdresser he was a great find.My DS is back at work doing 5 hours a day at the moment. He seems to be coping and feels the medication is helping🤞
Thinking of Suedonim and Baggs hope the treatment goes well for DS and DD,also thinking of Grandmabatty.💐
Have a great trip Urms bring back some sunshine.
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.
Lovely to see you here muse hope all is going well and you’ve settled in well to your new place now
Im just home after being out all day, a couple of classes at the gym, a trip to Tesco and a very lovely catch up with my best pal. We were disappointed to find out that the Starbucks which we always go to after the gym will be permanently closing next week🙁 we’ve been going there most weeks for well over 10 years so I don’t know what we’ll do! The other choices within walking distance of the gym are Costa, Tesco café or the Range cafe …. we’ll probably chose the one with the most comfy seats as we’re usually there a while
So pleased to hear you’ve got your shower fixed grandmabatty I remember you saying a while ago that it was broken. I bet you’ll really enjoy a lovely long warm shower later
Yia - good to hear about your DSs improvements, well done to him. Any chance of a picture of your new hair do?
Urms I am hoping that the flights have been booked for Malaga. Wow! You certainly deserve a treat.
