Mick is away so hope I’m OK to open up today.

Good morning all from a less chilly Torbay where the temperature has reached the dizzy heights of three degrees!!

DH (*olddudders*) arrived safely at Portsmouth, having opted for a change of route from the one I favour; he travelled via the A303 and A34, etc. It was 20 miles longer than using the A35 and A31 but took less time. Luckily, no adverse road conditions were encountered. After an overnight in Travelodge, he will be on the early ferry, leaving at 8.15a.m.

Yesterday, I was very relieved to have my post operation medication sorted out by a very helpful pharmacist at our surgery. The various tablets supplied by the hospital had nearly all gone and the paperwork regarding my stay has yet to reach my practice.

I hope everyone is warm and well. šŸ¦©šŸŽ„ā›„ļøšŸŽ…šŸ¼šŸ¦©

Good Morning everyone from a very clear, very cold Carlisle where it was -6C at 7.30am. There is a beautiful half moon in the sky still.
Yesterday, housework and reading and the same today. I'm staying in except to venture out into the garden to feed the blackbird an apple. He's stuffing himself out there most of the day.

I'm pleased for you grandMattie, I hope you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet now just pleasing yourself.

Have a good day all. I hope Mick is enjoying his trip.

GS has finally decided on his Christmas present. I thought I had given up robbing banks, but I might have to! Having said that, I can’t think of branch that is actually now open to be robbed, so maybe not😁! Busking then……..!

That made me smile, Greyduster! šŸ˜‚

Good Morning from S Yorks

glad you are free at last GM and Greyduster what a lovely family you have but hope you can be released from Cabin Fever as soon as.

Main roads are fine - my little one is a bit dodgy but will get out to the gym then have Zoom counselling as per back home.
No new snow, very pretty out, but I shan't be sorry when it goes.

Take care all, bests for poorlies and may outings go well.

Good morning from N. Bucks. Cold weather and cold noses.
I have our WI Christmas lunch today at a local restaurant where the food is usually very good so hoping it can feed a crowd well.
DD2 is coming to work from our house and stay for a couple of nights. Her boiler is not working and nobody can come until Friday. Originally it was January 3 rd!
Otherwise Christmasy jobs to do and watch Kirstys Handmade at 5.
Stay warm and hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s bloomin’ cold.

I’m not feeling too well, razor blade throat and headache on top of a couple of nights where my little friend (stoma) has made her presence felt in a most unpleasant way.

Hey ho though - onwards!

Today I must have a look at my present stash and see if there’s anything I need as I don’t have another free day for a week.

I’m glad I was working yesterday Mary, and not trying to get anywhere by train, that sounds very trying.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a chilly looking Northampton, it's -3°, but doesn't look quite so frosty out.

Had a lovely time at Knit and Natter yesterday; we spent our usual hour and a half with our needles out, then had a delicious lunch; I decided on scampi and chips. As we meet in a pub, no extra journey to make for our food. One lady had brought a home-made cream sponge as it was her birthday! Had so much that I didn't need a lot for tea last night.

A few errands to do on the way home; I called in the paper shop to pay my bill and was embarrassed to find I hadn't paid it since September! Have now settled up to the end of the year.

Health walk this afternoon, but not sure I will actually walk! My friend has offered me a lift, so I might just go and meet them for the company, and wait in the cafe for their return, then have coffee and a chat.

My final ordered Christmas parcel arrived yesterday, so will need to spend a morning busy wrapping. Only buying for the grandchildren this year, as requested by DS,.so not so much to do.

Safe journeys to all traveling today. grandMattie, enjoy your freedom!

Good morning from a cold but ice free Black Country.

Went to Wolverhampton yesterday to meet DS for lunch, and swap cards and give him the girls presents (we only give for the children now). I was surprised how snowy and icy it was over there, as there is none here! So Mum didn't come as it was lethal on the paths near her.

Today I have a check up at the Dentist. Fingers crossed it is is light on my purse! Will walk there, and on the way back I walk through town, so may peruse the shops!

Goodness Marydoll what a day for you, hope you have recovered!

Wishing you all a warm and safe day.

At last GM you have your house back to yourself.

Gingster Tue 13-Dec-22 09:00:30

Good morning and the snow/frost is still lingering on the ground.

Yesterday the chimes group Christmas session was cancelled - hopefully Friday now.

Dd called round and we had a coffee and a friendly chat.
She was due to have her immunotherapy infusion at 9 o’clock. The meds arrived but no nurse. After a million phone calls (from Dd to the hospital) she had a call late afternoon. Nurse had been stuck in Prague šŸ˜³šŸ™„. A phone call would have been good. They say a nurse will be there this morning. Let’s hope so! When will anything go right!

What adventures youve been having Marydoll and Ladyleftfielder. Take it easy today!

Bridge today, hopefully, if I can get out of my road without skidding! šŸ™.

Keep cosy! ā¤ļø

Recovering after a busy but most enjoyable weekend - no stamina these days, sadly! Supermarket today and will try to get ahead where I can so that I don’t need to brave a supermarket next week. Otherwise admin and trying to keep warm whilst not bankrupting myself.

Thinking of grandMattie (hurrah!) and Marydoll (stay indoors, woman!) and all those having a demanding time. This bitter spell can’t last forever - can it? Just remembered 1962/3. Help!

dragonfly46 Tue 13-Dec-22 09:15:24

Oh Shazza don't say that about everybody wearing them. I have found that with M&S before now. I have ordered three in the hope I like one of them!

Newquay Tue 13-Dec-22 09:22:27

Good morning from a lurker in an overcast Staffs. Don’t know the temperature but it doesn’t look like there’s been a frost.
I’ve come on to ask you to share my joy-I rang the surgery this morning and will have a phone appointment some time today to renew antibiotics for chest infection I’ve had for over a week now-hurrah! Was expecting a battle but receptionist was very helpful and proactive 😊
Am thoroughly fed up-have missed SO many things šŸ˜ž
Love to hear your tales and I share your joys and sadnesses too-as other OP said this is a lovely community

dragonfly46 Tue 13-Dec-22 09:23:37

I hope your phlebotomist is young and dishy kitty - he seems to visit quite often! I have to say all the medical personnel I have dealt with recently have been very appealing except the female staff - must be my age!

dragonfly46 Tue 13-Dec-22 09:24:34

Greyduster your DS sounds like mine!

dragonfly46 Tue 13-Dec-22 09:25:50

Gingster pleased to hear your news, except the nurse not turning up of course.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 13-Dec-22 09:37:24

dragonfly we are so bad for nice shops in Hull. The worst time with Next was when 6 of us went out for a meal and when myself and the other lady took our coats off we had the same dress on. We just sat next to each other hoping people would think we were twinsšŸ˜‚
I can’t order clothes online as I consider myself too lumpy and bumpy. But I do love the shop.

Taichinan Tue 13-Dec-22 09:46:15

Good morning all. I've been up, had breakfast and am now back in bed to try to get warm! It's -6°C here on the Angus coast. I've lived here for 25 years now and never known anything like this.
I had a good final (final - really?) Christmas shopping spree yesterday and it was quite hassle-free because there were no crowds. The drive back to the coast from DD's in Perthshire was no problem either. There were very few lorries which seems to make a huge difference.
Anyway, today there's lots to do, if only I can get going - not least getting out there with warm water to see if I can defrost the pipes to the windscreen if the car, and give the car windows a good clean as I have to go down into town to order my repeat prescription early as I shall run out of meds before I get home from my visits to DD's New Man in Notts for Christmas and my son in Lincs for New Year.
I shall come back and read all the posts later Keep cosy everyone!

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 13-Dec-22 09:54:38

Good morning all from frozen Harrogate we’ve had a smattering of snow. It’s now - 1 degree which is a heatwave compared to yesterday!!
I’m now having surgery problems. I’m on antibiotics which finish o Saturday and I’m supposed to have a different antibiotic to continue with. The surgery insist I see a doctor, the earliest next Tuesday!!! I said I’m trying to prevent being hospitalised as happened last time. All the receptionist could say was discuss it with the doctor next week!! What’s the point!!
It’s DD’s birthday today, DH has walked up to give her her pressie. We got the tree up as always for her birthday!! She’s only 48! Thank you Ash for opening up, hope mick is having a great time
GrandMattie you won’t know what to do with yourself - just relax.
Marydoll what a palaver you got yourself into!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning everyone. Fog and cloud in this corner of Lancashire, currently 1°C.

I slept so well last night I didn’t wake up until the alarm went to remind me to take my first lot of meds. I didn’t awaken again until Mr. B fetched the morning tea. It’s so warm and cosy in my bed I didn’t want to leave it.

My tea is now finished, the second lot of meds are doing their work so I’ll read your posts now.

Good morning from a still snowy but sunny W Kent. Fed up as I have cancelled my hair appointment due to the fact we can't get the car out and I am terrified of falling over on the ice. Marydoll what a hardy lot you Scots are, DD1 in Perth walked to school, here in Kent the schools were closed, oh dear.
gM free at last, relax if you can.
I hope Mick is enjoying his Christmas jaunt.
Best wishes to all

harrigran Tue 13-Dec-22 10:18:09

Good morning from a snowy/icy NE where it is -4.
Had message from DS yesterday to say that DIL and GD2 were confined to bed with a nasty virus, poor GD she is flying to Italy on Friday.
I did nothing yesterday, just caught up with TV in the music room as it warms up quicker that the large lounge.
SIL went shopping for me and managed to get all the gifts on the list plus gift cards.
My sister is stressing about travelling to the UK, when she comes she usually stays six weeks so why is she waiting until the busiest time of the year. The airport is 45 minutes drive away and somebody is going to have to collect her at rush hour on a Friday afternoon.
I must sort my freezer out and do some housework but most reluctant to leave the warm study at present.
Nice to see the children being pulled to school on sledges this morning, beats the mums parking their Chelsea tractors in every inch of the street.
Take care those that have this icy weather.

hollysteers Tue 13-Dec-22 10:32:53

Good morning Ash and all gransnetters.
Braved the elements yesterday and picked up my specs from the optician and had my red Christmas nails done. I have acrylic purely for the reason I pick my fingers, a horrible habit and I can’t do it with acrylics. One of my rubber shoe grippers for the snow had broken, so I used just one, looking pretty strange.
Someone’phoned me at 7 leaving no message and I don’t recognise the number…
Today to music club. I may sing something Christmassy, see how the voice is.
My hand drawn Xmas card.

Blossoming Tue 13-Dec-22 10:34:56

Relieved to see that moving day went without a hitch Grandmattie, enjoy a little freedom now.

I’m worried about you Marydoll, ignoring TKMaxx, unheard of! Winter travel is such a nightmare. I’m staying put until at least Friday when I have a hair appointment grin

Happy Birthday to Megs flowers

dragonfly46 Tue 13-Dec-22 10:36:02

I love the sound of your house Harrigran you have so many rooms!!!

Megs36 Tue 13-Dec-22 10:46:53

Thankyou Shazza

Good morning all from Glasgow, thank you for starting us off Ash. -7 at present no snow but such a hard frost turning everything outside white, I thought for a minute it had been snowing.

Getting up in the dark during the night for the usual loo visit, too late, I realised the cat had been sick beside my bed and of course, I stood on it! Yuck. This is a rare occurrence for her but I wasn’t in the mood to, being half asleep, wash my foot and clean and disinfect a carpet.
I am at a loss as to what to buy DH for his C present. He doesn’t need anything apart from a selection of his favourite sweets.
Why is it so difficult to think of a choice of gifts for men as opposed to buying for women? Or am I the only one who has this dilemma? A ridiculous first world problem, I know.
A few bits and pieces to do indoors plus phone calls, I am thankfully not venturing out.

Best wishes to all for a positive day and be careful in these icy conditions to those who will be out and about.
