Mick is away so hope I’m OK to open up today.

Good morning all from a less chilly Torbay where the temperature has reached the dizzy heights of three degrees!!

DH (*olddudders*) arrived safely at Portsmouth, having opted for a change of route from the one I favour; he travelled via the A303 and A34, etc. It was 20 miles longer than using the A35 and A31 but took less time. Luckily, no adverse road conditions were encountered. After an overnight in Travelodge, he will be on the early ferry, leaving at 8.15a.m.

Yesterday, I was very relieved to have my post operation medication sorted out by a very helpful pharmacist at our surgery. The various tablets supplied by the hospital had nearly all gone and the paperwork regarding my stay has yet to reach my practice.

I hope everyone is warm and well. 🦩🎄⛄️🎅🏼🦩

I had to come back to check that the poor DL has really moved out!
What a good friend you have been gMattie and when the dust settles and she's in her new house, you can have a nice friendship again.
perhaps

Marydoll I can't remember why you were running for trains yesterday but I thought of you when I saw a woman running for a bus this morning. Bearing in mind it is extremely icy.

Good morning from Sefton.
Kalu have you considered suggesting a joint present, a treat you can share with your DH? A hotel stay or a special meal? We have done this in the past and will do it this year. It takes the pressure off both of us and we prefer it to actual physical gifts.
Thinking if you all.

Very good suggestions Nannagarra which we have actually done over the years. Sadly, DH was diagnosed with throat cancer and had surgery for a total laryngectomy, you weren’t to know but he is not quite ready to go out in public, especially restaurants. I will think of something apart from the sweets 😂 but thank you for your thoughtful reply.

Good day (it being pm now) all. It’s cloudy and cold here is West Sussex.

I went to Brighton yesterday for a meet-up with former colleagues. It was winter wonderland over there on the edge of the Downs. Only three of us made it. Others lived at the top of hills with icy/snowy roads or had further to come and were too anxious to drive. I had stayed with DD overnight as she lives nearer and all the roads I had to go on were well gritted. I was glad I had made the effort as the hostess had gone to her usual trouble to lay everything out beautifully.

Marydoll I read your account of yesterday’s travel tribulations with breath held. When I got to where you were running for the train I nearly had a heart attack myself. I hope you are none the worse today.

I was shivering for the Scottish grans when I heard the weather reports yesterday evening. These temperatures are scary.

That’s a lovely quote Urmstongran

Susan I laughed at you having to get up for ‘elf on the shelf*! I called with DD3 yesterday on my way home and 3 year old DGD was regaling me with the exploits of their elves 😂

Ash we go on the A34 heading north from the A27 now, rather than using the M25. It is usually faster.

Mattie I haven’t commented on your postings regarding DL but have followed most days with admiration at all you have done. I hope she settles into her new place without too many problems. And I hope you have a tranquil pre-Christmas time to yourself.

I hope Baubles, Grandmabatty, Newquay and any others who are ill recover soon and Gingster’s DD gets her immunotherapy.

Kalu - yuck! The joy of cats 😸

Good afternoon everyone, it’s still awfully cold, icy and snowy herein my corner of Wiltshire. The Ocado driver has just phoned to say she’s stuck in snow and ice and someone has driven into her delivery van.
Poor lady!
I’ve rebooked for tomorrow morning, it’s no problem. I haven’t been out for 3 days, I certainly have no intention of driving, our estate roads are sheet ice.
Stay safe and warm everyone x

Happy birthday Megs. Good to see you posting.

Grammaretto, I was inside the station, so it wasn't icy and it was more of a fast hobble, than a run. I haven't been able to to run in years!! 😉

Warm socks Kalu and tickets to a play or movie in a warm, comfy space. You have Celtic Connections coming up. Would DH enjoy something in that?

I'm afraid this could be suggestions for what I would like for Christmas! grin

Kalu Tue 13-Dec-22 15:53:46

DH could open a sock shop Grammaretto 😂 We both enjoy Celtic Connections , visits to the theatre and classical concerts at the Concert Hall. Hope this isn’t TMI but the main reason DH isn’t comfortable presently going out in public spaces is there are some uncontrollable, often quite loud gurgling noises omitting from his stoma which others would be uncomfortable having to hear. Thanks for you kind thought though.
I am going for a look around our local shopping mall tomorrow hoping, just the thing he would like will jump out at me.

Nannagarra Tue 13-Dec-22 16:33:10

I beg your pardon Kalu. I didn’t know and certainly wouldn’t have wished to make you or your DH uncomfortable. Sorry.

Blossoming Tue 13-Dec-22 17:00:13

Will any of the Celtic Connections events be online Kalu? I can only think of a gift subscription for something he enjoys to read, watch or listen to, which can be enjoyed at home. He has been through the mill.

And thanks other friends and loving thoughts to others with problems, don’t take chances especially in this icy weather. (*Marydoll*). 🙂🙂
