Good morning everyone, today for the first time for over a week we haven’t got the horrendous wind and rain that we’ve been having. I had to ask DH to walk in front of me as we rounded a corner in the centre of town yesterday as I was scarred of being blown over. I’m especially glad because I’m getting my hair cut later and thought the wind would undo all the good work that I hope the hairdresser will do. Dd and SiL eventually got home safely yesterday afternoon. Wyllow, when I said to them that I was sorry the weather was so bad and their mostly unused bit of the house so cold, they replied “ Not as cold as at home!*. The temperatures have apparently been about 15/17°. I haven’t put my nose outside the door yet today to find out. At least SiL was able to catch up on his sleep, he was due to go back on night work the same evening.

Welcome to Shel69. I agree with you that it is nice to read of others day to day activities.

I also meant to say to Urms How fantastically well you have done sticking to your weight loss plan. It’s not easy I know.

I’ll have to catch up with the last couple of days happenings later, I must get organised now.

Am all behind this morning as plumber arrived at 8.30 am to sort out two non-functioning radiators - I was expecting g him late afternoon so wasn’t at all ready. Still, job done and I am grateful that he takes my needs seriously.

Big mystery is that I seem to have lost my wedding ring. I noticed its loss last night and am utterly baffled. Did it get mixed up with the recycling when I put it out yesterday? No idea, and of course they were early today, so I can’t hunt through it. I am devastated to have lost this precious link to DH but will continue to look indoors. Need prayers to St Jude, the patron saint of lost causes.

Not looking forward to the funeral later today of a young member of our congregation, father of three little boys, who lost a long battle with bower cancer. They are such a lovely family and need all the support the village can give them.

Good morning all from Glasgow. -8 and again a very hard frost.

I have had to cancel BT coming out today as the required part for our wifi hasn’t arrived due to the postal strike. Visit rearranged for next Tuesday. 🤞a rubbish night’s sleep, didn’t drop off until 3,00am. I was planning a visit to a larger nearby shopping mall today but I have decided to put it off for today, a visit to discuss my meds at our surgery will be enough of an outing for a get up and go type of day.
Sorry to hear you are feeling unwell, possibly with covid Grandmabatty. Look after yourself, stay warm and plenty of fluids, hoping if covid, it’s a mild dose.
Is this a milestone birthday for you Baubles? We share the same first number but I am 2.3/4 years ahead of you and you certainly don’t look that age!
I’m so sorry to read your sad news this morning Susan

Have a pleasant day if possible all and hopefully a kinder day ahead for those who have struggles and worries to cope with.

A late good morning from Durham where it’s bright but the temperature is still well below zero. At the last minute, I decided not to drive down to Cheshire to spend a few days with my sister-in-law – partly because of the weather, but mainly because I don’t want anything to jeopardize my Christmas plans, but I’d also called at my rental house en route to put the heating on and found a problem with the boiler. That saw me dropping off the keys at my wonderful Gas man’s house. He has been there first thing today and it’s all up and running and I feel happier leaving it empty, with some heating on until it is next rented out. Both my sister-in-law and I felt it more advisable that I drive down in January, when there is a window of decent weather. We have been dealing with dense, freezing fog, most afternoons and evenings here in the Northeast - took me a while to locate my fog light switch - I hate it when people have fog lights on for a bit of mist, or worse still in torrential rain and then forget they’ve got them on days later!
gM your ex-DL might well have to spend another night in her hotel, as agents won’t release keys until the funds are in, usually around 4pm, but at least that’s not your problem. I wonder if you might find it a bit strange at first, being on your own?
Best wishes to all. Stay safe. X

Thank you for all your kind comments about my mum.I have thought for some time things weren’t right but then she would have a really good couple of weeks.I think having my thoughts confirmed is what has made me so sad.

NannyJan, yes, that’s what it feels like that I am losing her.Mum is 90.We too are waiting for an appointment at the memory clinic. She has mellowed a lot which is good but it’s not my mum.

I hope your mum isn’t waiting too long for her appointment💐
