King Charles coronation

I’m reading today that Charles will be insisting that Harry & Meghan will be invited to his Coronation next year… but why? So they may still whinge & moan and take sneaky pictures for maybe another forthcoming battering of the royal family, moan that all the family will be so cold towards them, that no one is friendly towards them. Charles do your best and don’t invite them, they probably wouldn’t attend anyway..

Peers are always invited to the coronation ceremony and Harry is a Duke. He also might have to be the one to kneel in front of Charles. After all which other Duke will he choose?
The presence of the peers of the realm in full regalia at a coronation is a potent demonstration of their loyalty to the crown and to the monarch. Yet it is only once the central ceremony of the coronation has been reached and the Archbishop of Canterbury has placed St Edward’s Crown on the head of the new monarch that the peers follow suit and place their own coronets on their heads. The peers, represented by one member of each rank of the peerage, then pay homage to their new sovereign by removing their coronets, kneeling and swearing loyalty.

Of course he would invite his son. He is sensible enough to realise the damage that might ensue if he didn’t. He is a lot more dignified than they are but then he has had years and years of watching his mother coping with tricky situations and learning his role as King. You never know, they might mend some bridges.

Franbern

Perhaps Charles could solve his dilemma by cancelling the Coronation, dissolving the monarchy and bringing UK into the 21st Century.

Yes quite

I am not a fan of Charles. I've always thought he was weak. I think his support of Harry, despite the hatred and bile coming from the media and also from the 'palace sources' shows Charles in a much better light. He is standing up for what he values (his children) against all the odds.

Maybe he'll be a better king than I thought.

Galaxy Sat 17-Dec-22 10:55:12

Yes I think he is weak but I also think hes an interesting character, I am not sure whether I like him or not. Of course he would invite his son.

Of course they will be - they are his son and DIL. Just because things are a bit strained at present does not change that. Families fall out sometimes, that does not mean they cease to be family.

The invitation is quite understandable. They might decline but I doubt it. No control over the crowds though I think, especially after the autobiography ‘Spare’ comes out next month, they’ll get booed. I don’t think they are as popular a couple as they were after the Netflix six hours of revelations. Meghan’s mickey-taking performance of having to do ‘that curtsy’ to Harry’s grandmother whilst an embarrassed Harry looked on sealed their fate in my opinion as a couple with no self awareness. To me, they are irrelevant and I wish they’d shut up and live their very privileged lives quietly with enjoyment of all they have chosen. But I fully understand how Charles must feel. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t really. I for one am not fussed either way as I won’t be watching the whole shebang of it.

Callistemon21 Sat 17-Dec-22 11:09:09

The Earl Marshal, the Duke of Norfolk, will organise the Coronation.

Everything will be done to a strict protocol.
Family feelings will not enter into it one way or another.

It's not a party.

tickingbird Sat 17-Dec-22 11:09:45

I’m not surprised at all that they’re invited and I doubt Meghan would miss an opportunity to be on the world stage.

I saw Lady Colin Campbell being interviewed a few days ago and, although I don’t warm to the woman, she has been right about a few things. She said that Charles is very worried about Harry. There’s a lot we don’t know and I should imagine they’re all concerned. She went on to say Meghan could then become the beautiful widow!

I hope that doesn’t come to pass but there’s a well known Astrologer, Jessica Adams, predicted covid a year before it happened and the split between the princes and she has voiced her concerns about Harry over a year ago and another one is a black American woman, Tara Buffington, who has said right from the wedding that MM isn’t all that she seems and Harry is in danger.

Just putting it out there. That’s all I’m saying on the matter.

so much outrage here "KING" who lied and cheated on his wife ,accepted dodgy bags full of cash from arabs after "honours" and goodness knows what else in his entitled wee world should stop his son from attending his coronation ,because grannies with nothing better to do than be vile online think the son and his wife are liars.Well lets face it ladies if the son is a liar he learned it from his old man .

volver Sat 17-Dec-22 11:19:55

If we're relying on Lady Colin Campbell and astrologers, then the country is in a worse state than we all thought.

nanna8 Sat 17-Dec-22 11:20:01

Where do you get off insulting older people? Ageism at its worst . You obviously need help but don’t look for it here. Go to a professional.

nanna8 Sat 17-Dec-22 11:20:44

Not you, Volver, I was referring to paddyanne

Parsley3 Sat 17-Dec-22 11:21:50

Charles told us what he thinks of the court of public opinion when he announced that his relationship with Camilla was non negotiable.
He is saying the same thing now about his relationship with his son and daughter in law. Sometimes I think that some members of the great British public behave like the worst kind of mother in law when it comes to Harry and Meghan.

volver Sat 17-Dec-22 11:21:52

You can be a grannie at 32, quite legally. Probably earlier, physically. You don't have to be old.

Just saying.

volver Sat 17-Dec-22 11:22:33

So was I nanna8, but thank you for clarifying. 🙂

nanna8 Sat 17-Dec-22 11:26:48

Thanks for that,Volver. My friend was a grannie at 34 and a great grannie before she was 50. My ex son in law’s Mum was 32 and 17 years later a great grandma so similar.

‘Harry & Meghan’ Producers vs. Buckingham Palace: Spat Intensifies Over Netflix Docuseries

Not only does this confirm what Harry and Meghan said re palace directly briefing the media. It also shows how quickly lies from the palace can make their way into the media. A WhatsApp group with senior palace staff and tabloid journalists?

Cam hosting a private party with Piers Morgan and other z list celebrities who vilified Meghan in the press

No mention of Charles accepting millions in cash in FM bags from Qatar billionaire who bought up most of London. What did he get in return.

Just so rude!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 17-Dec-22 11:33:33

I don’t usually say much about these Royal shenanigans, but for Pete’s sake! The right wing press made such a huge meal of H&M not coming to the Queen’s funeral - apparently the ‘public’ thought they should stay away. Well, they came and all was fine. I am sure H&M will attend the Coronation. Why shouldn’t they? If the tabloids and all who follow them had their way, H&M should be publicly hung, drawn and quartered. One thing I have said is that Guardian, i newspaper and the Observer give measured responses to what is going on right now. I agree with them that Harry had a point. The media are disgraceful and he’s concerned his own family are in danger - which I think has been recently proved. To VC stir the pot - do we think Andrew should go?

nadateturbe Sat 17-Dec-22 11:33:40

Speaking as a republican I'm with Grany and Franbern.

Speaking as a mother I think Charles is doing the right thing.

Glorianny Sat 17-Dec-22 11:38:12

Funny isn't it point out any of Charles' huge gaffes and you are immediately jumped on. Suddenly he's a cross between St Theresa and the pope and untouchable.
H&M are now the "baddies"
I'm currently reading "In Defence of Witches" and I just realised that many of you would have had Meghan hung as a witch at one time (they were never burned in the UK). She cast a spell on our prince and spirited him away!

Smileless2012 Sat 17-Dec-22 11:39:40

I'm not sure TBH. I think he may be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. H & M possibly face the same dilemma; damned if they attend and damned if they don't.

Smileless2012 Sat 17-Dec-22 11:41:00

Not at all Glorianny. Regardless of how much H may be influenced by M, this is his family so the ultimate responsibility lies with him.

Charles was proclaimed King after the Queen died.
How many in this secular country believe he has to anointed with oil and given his calling by God to be able to carry out his role?
Very, very few.
It is a spectacle for the world, who incidentally aren’t paying for it.
How many will rush home from the food banks to their poor unheated homes, ok it’s summer but you get the point, to watch on tv the obscene affair.
Jewels, clothing, armed forces, entitled visitors from all over the globe while they wonder if their benefits will last to the next payment.
