No, I thought it was just a song sung with gusto about different routes to Scotland! Perhaps with references to English soldiers marching north.

No offence here either. It's a song being sung by Scottish Jacobite prisoners who are going to be executed in the morning, I believe.

Just remembering that for the last coronation our house was full, because we had a TV. I got very bored and as it was raining I couldn't play outside. So I sat in the porch and rolled the coronation ball I'd been given, forwards and backwards against the wall.
70 years later I suppose it will still be boring. I'm too old to play ball I might just go on holiday and watch the highlights when I get back.

I remember the late Queens coronation too,house full of people as we had a TV, built by my radio ham stepfather. It was a horrid wet, cold day and yes it was a bit boring for a 10 year old. The evening it cheered up and we went to the Town Hall for the bun throwing, and then joined a queue in the market square for a slice of beef from the huge ox being roasted. I can remember being very excited and everyone else seemed excited and cheerful too.

Fine, as long as we don't expect anything else of them, eg being our Head of State, being available on demand for many other functions as ambassadors for the UK, supporting charities etc.

I expect they might be very much relieved too, to be free of the demands of an ungrateful public. 🙂

I was 13 at the time of the coronation. Wore my best dress and watched it on a neighbour’s television. I wasn’t bored. I thought the sense of occasion was quite exciting. It was in black and white, but I saw the colour film later with school.

Did you really watch it all? It started before 10am and ended at 5,20pm. You may just have watched the ceremony in the Abbey

Don’t do main function of a Head of State that is Making sure that a PM doesn’t break the laws of our constitution, as all power is given to the PM. Don’t do much plenty of free time for their own interests and using helicopters at public expense. Did you say charities? It’s been discovered that the RF don’t do much for charities In an independent report from Giving Evidence after much research a fine tooth comb it was found charities do not benefit from royal patronage and shouldn’t seek it.
