Let’s open a book on what colour Megz will wear to the coronation. sigh…..Let’s be surprised when all the other royals wear purple or whatever. Megz is right about one thing - she has been the object of online hatred and abuse.

King Charles coronation
(289 Posts)I’m reading today that Charles will be insisting that Harry & Meghan will be invited to his Coronation next year… but why? So they may still whinge & moan and take sneaky pictures for maybe another forthcoming battering of the royal family, moan that all the family will be so cold towards them, that no one is friendly towards them. Charles do your best and don’t invite them, they probably wouldn’t attend anyway..
Do you really think my comment was for real vegansrock? Methinks certain lesser topics on GN need a lighter approach sometimes!
Anyway, I'm heading to Bath now for a few days where there's a Museum of Fashion, so I'll look out for some tips for posh frocks.
Just looked up the date because we are going away for a few weeks in May and so glad we will be home then. I love looking at those British spectaculars, they do it so well. I don’t care whether those 2 go or not, they will not be the focus anyway. I really am not clear why they command so much attention there mustn’t be much news these days.
Joseanne why don't you cut the sarcasm then!
Really? I don't see it as sarcasm, but a bit of fun sometimes lacking on GN ! Infact a poster was at pains to say ALL the comments on here have not the slightest affect on Meghan anyway. And besides I revel in fashion. 👗

I can see why he has invited them. However it will detract from the Coronation. . Charles may be open to dismissing all the bad behaviour and betrayal but there will be a lot of people that don't. How they could even consider coming I don't know but it would continue the revenue from Netflix if they do, because they certainly don't want to be forgotten. They say and do dreadful things, publicly ask for an apology, it's turned into a pantomime. No wonder there's problems burying your head in the sand hoping it will all melt away.

Oh, there's plenty of news - but Meghan 'n Harry create a good distraction away from it.
Here's the view of a popular media 'icon' - popular with the 'lads' of both sexes... Jeremy Clarkson.
Jeremy Clarkson has issued a foul rant about Meghan Markle, insisting that he "hates her on a cellular level" and wants her to be "paraded naked through the streets".
The television presenter said that he "dreams of people throwing lumps of excrement at her" in the insensitive spew of hatred towards Meghan - who he has never met.
How any man with daughters of his own can talk about a woman in such terms leaves me speechless. It certainly says more about him than it does her.
But - yes, why worry about the real news when we've got this juicy bone to chew on.

Strange that, my puppy only chewed on material with Meghan in it! Remember that library book I had to cough up £16.99 for? Still avaliable, postage free. (Joke!)

I know you are attempting to introduce a 'lighter' note to all this heavy stuff - and I'm not averse to a bit of jocularity, but when you get men - like Clarkson and Piers Morgan, both quite high-profile figures - ranting and spewing hate towards a woman who, for all her faults, can't really have had that much effect on their lives - it is, to say the least, quite depressing.
There are, it seems, enough keyboard-warriors out there poised and ready to make threats of violence, rape and death towards people they've taken a dislike towards. And this kind of rhetoric just plays along with them and encourages them in their warped little projects.
Forget Meghan, online bullying and public vilification of people can have and has had disastrous consequences for some. I think it's a vile trend, dangerous and worrying, and I just cannot laugh it off.
I have to conclude that Jeremy Clarkson is slightly unhinged - no normal man could suggest that Markle is worthy of more hatred than Rose West - a woman who 'assisted' her husband in the torture, rape and murder of children. And that's ignoring the fact he roped Nicola Sturgeon into the same category as West. However, he does have his fans, some of whom I'm sure will be delighted with his ravings.
Anyway, I'm out of here now. This topic is not about the coronation of Charles as the heading suggested, it was a 'novel' way to get another thread going about M&H, and it's all-done-chewed-over-good-'n-proper.

paddyann54 Youd think mature women knew better but out they come time after time spewing bile and hatred ...all against someone they dont know
Bit extreme there! I haven't noticed anyone spewing bile and hatred. If it's time after time then there should be plenty of examples, so can you quote a few.

I think it's meant to be irony, Chestnut 😂

They must be able to compartmentalise their brains, like Andeew too.
JC's daughter is disgusted with him, apparently.
I'd be telling him to pull his head in if he were in any way related to me.

Didn’t Diana wear black for the Panorama interview?
Seeing as Meghan is so like Diana apparently, at least according to Harry, it makes sense that she would model her ‘look’ for her similar one.
If Charles really wanted to portray himself as a modern inclusive monarch. He would have a very scaled-back coronation at his own expense. No holy oil for God's anointed. Keep his wife in the background, I certainly do not see her as special and warranting a lot of pomp and circumstance. A divorced woman who hung around all his married life causing distress to his original wife and probably still does to others.
Ask a few people he really wants whether it be sons or friends, and do it on a weekday when everyone is at work.No national holiday, then Harry and Meghan might feel like attending.
Also, commission a new national anthem mentioning the people in his realm, not himself.
Just my point of view.

I hate to tell you Joseanne but the Bath Museum of Fashion is currently closed. They were given notice to quit the Assembly Rooms by the National Trust and are I believe in the process of packing everything up. They will be moving to The Old Post Office, which is nowhere near as attractive a building. I don’t think they will be reopening there for several years. Suggest you check.

Why?
It's a State occasion, not a private party.
Enjoy your trip Joseanne
Even if no posh frocks.☹️
Are we having a coronation beano on here next Spring? I’ll bring a bag of Greggs sausage rolls and look lovely in a red and white tee shirt and blue shorts, with matching flip flops very patriotic.

So true of those that I actually know, not those that I have to use the media to inform me about. Out with them all!!

Tough on those who would like to watch the pageantry whilst confined to the house. The people in the care home were already talking about it.
But who cares about them?
do it on a weekday when everyone is at work. No national holiday.
That’ll go down really well with employers who are not in the hospitality industry and with those who have to work on bank holidays;
not so well with those who get time and a half pay or time in lieu for working bank holidays;
and really badly with those who have been campaigning for extra bank holidays because they feel hard done by next to the EU and thought it would be a start
But who cares?
Thanks for the tip off about the museum and comments. Luckily it wasn't the main part of my visit, I should have checked first, but now DH is worried that it allows me more time for spending in the real dress shops instead! Actually it is very damp and wet here in Bath. Afternoon tea in the hotel later seems like the answer.
Sorry to derail this thread a bit but on reading the museum bumf I found this ......
Each year, the Fashion Museum invites a respected expert from the fashion industry to select a Dress of the Year that encapsulates the prevailing mood of fashion, represents the past year and captures the imagination.
2021: Giorgio Armani: Black triple silk georgette dress with deep front, lotus flower embroidery. As worn by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Selectors: Ibrahim Kamara and Gareth Wrighton.
I do agree with your post Dickens and you will note that I added no frivolous, jocular comment neither on the actual Clarkson thread nor on here.

Who wants to pay for two elderly people who groomed a young and nieve teenage Diana, because Camilla got put in her place by Lord Mountbatten and told what she was?
When a quarter of the country is turning to food banks even when in work.
We the country should pay for two hypocritical people to be put forward as God's chosen and anointed with Holy Oil, you've got to be joking.
The money could go towards pay rises for all the people who are striking or food banks and free school dinners.
It should be a private party that they pay for they have enough money. The divine right of Kings went out four hundred years ago. What do they do but have family spats and bring tourism?

I care as do a lot of others and if you care to read my other post you would see where I would spend the money. I forgot to add decent accommodation for asylum seekers crossing the Channel in all weathers.
