I have new neighbours moving in this week I know the family and they are decent people but I m in a bit of a pickle the lady has just come to ask me as they can’t get their wifi put on until after Christmas and have children could they I use my password for a couple of weeks and they d willingly pay me to do that I d feel terrible to say no but will it make any difference to my plan (which is wifi only with a landline but as long as I don’t use the landline for outgoing calls I pay no extra)
Hope this makes sense
On the whole I can get by technically but not very clever about all the out of normal stuff

ParlorGames Too true!

Mind you, I am the worst culprit.grin

Well quite grin

All of us on here are using the Internet one way or another and I also hate it when it goes down for any reason. Children are no different- having access to the online world is their normal, and part of their traditions.

ParlorGames

Errrrr.......I have read through this thread and at no point have I seen anyone ask why these children cannot manage without WiFi over the Christmas period.
Might be a good opportunity to experience an "old fashioned" family Christmas without staring at a screen all day long. Just saying..........

I'm with you on this Parlour! Couple of days? Children? Nope! Apart from anything I'm bit nonplussed as to why they're asking? Surely they could play simple games on their devices without going onto WiFi ? They're probably talking about online rubbish anyway! It would be a novelty and fun to interact with ones offspring for a change!😅for security reason I think they have a bluddy cheek!.....they could be.......the Russians next door!?🤣

There should be a way to turn off comments.

Or delete or edit ya know like the civilised folks have on their forums?!?

Just tell them you only have a basic internet access it's not unlimited WiFi and your on the cheaper deal because you only use it when needed and when you've asked BT for advise they've advised you'd not be able to use much more than what you are using as your on a particular deal. Tell her you only get 500mb a month .

Or be a grown up and politely decline with a firm "no dear" how about that??

I understand why they might want Internet. My SiL uses it to talk to his Australian family on Christmas day!

Won't a lot of us not be with ALL the family or none of them, so Zooms and Video WhatSapps just make the day .....

with new NDN's...could be that simple, but I'm guessing its not just children's devices, but simply, Smart TV's.

I'd say no - they can use phones as a hotspot or get a WiFi dongle from most phone shops.

EmilyHarburn Wed 21-Dec-22 16:24:14

I think they should purchase a dongle

BlueBelle Wed 21-Dec-22 17:24:17

OMG doesn’t any of you read the posts even if it’s h just my subsequent posts

IT WAS SORTED TWO DAYS AGO

Oy yoi yoi

Calendargirl Wed 21-Dec-22 17:28:16

This thread is proof that Original Post’s subsequent comments need to be highlighted, preferably in someblurid, very eye catching colour, so that people who can’t be bothered to read past comments can at least see it is the OP replying!

Why are we yelling at people for trying to help?

Just don't worry about it

It's the fact that BB has already sorted it, many posts back and people have ignored her comments, despite her asking for no more advice on at least three occasions.

Im not surprised she is annoyed!

VioletSky Wed 21-Dec-22 17:48:01

There is a drop down menu top right and the thread can be hidden

Marydoll Wed 21-Dec-22 18:07:02

Only for those, who do not wish to read it. Not for others, I think.

A big NO. You don’t know who will be using it.
It can even open you up to identity fraud.
Tell them to use their hotspots.
They are probably more tech savvy than you so they’ll know about about alternatives such as hotspots.

Got to laugh 😅😅😅
