Good morning from an icy Co Durham.
Quiet day yesterday with BiL and SiL for lunch, which was lovely. DD1 and partner coming today for an overnight stay, they will help eat the left overs.
DD2 and family are spending Christmas in the sun, so What’s App was well used.
Hope all poorly gc improve, and Marydoll, take it easy today. I love reading your posts. You’re an inspiration.
Have a pleasant day one and all.

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

We had a lovely day with DD and SiL. Started with a full English. Then turkey for dinner around 7. We played hilarious games and FaceTimed the DGC.

Hope Susans DGS continues to improve and Dustyangels husband is feeling better.

Morning from a clear sky and sun rising in S Yorks.

Always good to read what different grans are up to. yesterday was a sweet peaceful quaker meeting and good cheer afterwards:

after that I too enjoyed Radio3 and later the extraordinary Kannu- Mason programmes last night as well as Home alone two and CtM (hankies out for latter). Lots of WhatSapps from family kept the day going.

Today I am somewhat unwillingly meeting up with Ex on his request late morning. Not sure he can stick to the being kind its Christmas agreement. However, this too will pass, one way or the other.

Have good days of rest those in need: Understandable, Greyduster: hope family meet ups go as planned, and no medical nasties in the day.

Morning all from what looks like a beautiful Boxing Day morning. Everyone is still in bed at 8.30 am which hardly ever happens! I think some of the family might go by for a long walk this morning. After lunch (Coronation chicken etc.) elder son and his family are going back to London. Daughter is going back tomorrow and younger son on Friday. Yesterday was lovely. The three Guinea fowl were enjoyed, the Christmas pudding was the same as always and the various cakes too. My granddaughter loved her presents. Her face lit up when she saw the Hogwarts Castle that younger son and daughter had bought for her. I think they’ll wait until they get back to Kew to assemble it. This is the first time since last Christmas that we have all been under one roof. I hope you all have a peaceful Boxing Day.

Good morning from our hotel in Kent. A very blustery night but calmer this morning.
A pleasant Christmas Day but a problem at lunch time. I won't bore you with the details but if my husband's severe intolerance was a severe allergy there could have been a major incident. I did all that I could beforehand to tell them but ...
Anyway the rest of the day was relaxing.
A drive out somewhere this morning and probably a walk.
Enjoy Boxing Day everyone and thoughts with all the poorly people, much love xx

Good morning all from East Yorkshire.

Good to read about everyone’s day yesterday.

We had a lovely few hours with the family in the morning. Despite the mountain of presents the thing keeping GS occupied was a small notebook where he continued to draw. I have to say some was very good. That and a camera which also prints out the photo. That delighted grandad as they are his interests too. He’s going to take him out to our country park one day where there will be plenty of photo opportunities. One of our presents was a wooden sign that says Grandparents. Underneath its says on duty and you can flip it over to day off duty! I love it. We returned home to that lovely smell of turkey cooking. Lunch was delicious and after that we just chilled watching a couple of films, strictly and call the midwife. I also had a couple of calls with other family.

Today I fancy getting out for a walk. Then just more relaxing. DS is back home later but going to football this afternoon.

Hoping to hear progress from Susan how her dear GS is coming along,

I’m with you Urms on feeling glad when it’s over.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all and happy Boxing Day .

Yesterday was relaxed and peaceful - just me and the old chap! 😂. Today we are off to DS1’s at midday with the rest of the family. Should be fun , noisy and chaotic .

Dog walk first and picking dgd1 up from her dads.

Enjoy your day everyone! 🙏

Grandmadinosaur Mon 26-Dec-22 08:40:46

So sorry to hear your son is not feeling too good with Covid shazza I hope he will feel better soon 🤞

Morning Mick and all from a chillier south Hampshire, due same sun.
We had the best day yesterday, children woke at about 7:30 then into our room to open stockings. I cooked lunch, the others cleared up, led by MrJ, tree presents continued into the afternoon. Family left about 4 and we had an evening of TV and our own special company.
No plans today, a quick tidy up, a walk, bubble and squeak with cold for dinner.
Hope Susan56 has news of an increasingly improved grandson and others not well are recovering.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩

Morning Mick and everyone.
Quiet Christmas day here...but have got 22 coming for lunch tomorrow...why did I let myself agree to that haha..
H,who's just diagnosed with Alzheimer's...said yesterday "so just run it past me again, when is Christmas "...even though we'd had family popping in and out with presents....
Take care, enjoy boxing day and I hope Susan that your little grandson is still improving...🌲

NannyJan53 Mon 26-Dec-22 09:14:10

Good morning from a bright blue skied Black Country.

Lovely family day yesterday. Mum had Christmas dinner with us. MrJ did the works. He made a mackerel pate starter. Turkey dinner, and Christmas pudding.

Then over to DD's where we met up with DB, SIL and Niece. Where we played games and had yet more food! Every year we play The Present Game. Everyone brings 2 wrapped presents, no more than £5, one a good one and one not so good. Then we all take in turns to roll a dice, if you get a 6 you choose a present. Then when they have all gone, we have 5 mins where if you roll a 6 you can 'steal' one from someone! The girls love it, and request it every year.

SIL asked Mum what she had for dinner, but sadly she could not remember, even though she had said how delicious it was! It struck home just how bad her memory now is. She has gone back with DB for a few days to stay in their lovely new home.

No real plans today, hopefully a walk at some point to burn off the excess calories.

Hoping to hear that Susans DGS in on the mend .

Wishing you all a lovely Boxing Day

GrannyGravy13 Mon 26-Dec-22 09:15:59

Morning all,

I am still in bed, lunch for twenty went surprisingly well, the AS’s helped, the GC were all well behaved. It was only when I looked in the playroom on my way to bed I saw the mess 🤣🤣🤣

It’s a quiet day for us, just eldest son, his wife and us. Cold meats, jacket potatoes and salad. I might catch up with Christmas TV as we didn’t have it on yesterday.

Have a joyous Boxing Day Folks 🎄🎄🎄🙋‍♀️

Gala Mon 26-Dec-22 09:17:19

Good morning all from what has been a very wet Sefton. The sun is now trying to struggle out.🤞
Christmas started for me on Friday evening with the annual carol concert in our listed Art Deco concert hall with the wonderful resident choir & orchestra. Hard to believe the choir are all amateur singers. Madeleine45 the presenter was the lovely Kadie Kanu-Mason. mum of the very talented 7. Hope to see her in this role next year. That our Philharmonic orchestra was superb goes without saying. ('Hashtag' - Visit Liverpool. You'll have a great time. !)

Christmas morning with DS1 & his little family was followed by lunch at a local restaurant withDS2 & his little family - they both have a daughter (ages 3 & 4). So no worries about shopping, prepping, cooking or clearing up the mess. Bliss.

Relaxing day today. Must get up!

Hoping you all have the best Boxing Day possible.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve had a bit of overnight snow and it’s looking very wintry
Its been good to read all about the different days yesterday, thanks everyone for sharing their lovely stories
We had a really good day with DD2 and family yesterday, SiL was the main cook and prepared a delicious lunch which we all thorough enjoyed. We played lots of family board games and quizzes and the DGC were well behaved all day without any tears or upsets so that was good. We didn’t leave to come home until 1am so I’m running a bit late this morning!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ziplok Mon 26-Dec-22 09:21:22

Good morning,
I hope you all enjoyed yesterday. Have a good Boxing Day.
A quiet day in store, but as the weather looks fine, a walk is on the agenda after breakfast, I think.

GrannySomerset Mon 26-Dec-22 09:27:29

Yesterday went to plan and was a surprisingly happy day. DS and company left around 10.00 am to meet the newest member of the family and my lunch guest arrived at 1.00 pm. Lunch went fine and I realised it was three years since I had cooked a fairly complex meal so I was relieved that I hadn’t totally lost the skill. We had a gentle time, able to talk about our missing other halves, and were not maudlin or miserable. After my guest left I had a zoom call with the rest of the family and settled down to enjoy some tv with a glass of wine and cheese and biscuits, feeling that the day had been a success despite being very different.

Sorry Marydoll is so unwell, hoping for encouraging news from * Susan* and wishing all a good St Steohen’s day.

cornergran Mon 26-Dec-22 09:36:07

You made me laugh urms. Your first reading couldn’t have been further from the truth. The wording was the best I could do with one eye open grin

flowers and a hug, greyd

Rest well marydoll, lots of happy times yesterday to think about. We could help you with the turkey, I’ll seriously miss a turkey sandwich or two.

Good morning from the farm high up on the edge of South Lanarkshire.
Several inches of snow here but fortunately I’m staying till tomorrow. I hope it improves or at least doesn’t get any worse or it will be a bit complicated getting me home, I certainly can’t drive in this so 🤞as foolishly and unusually, I didn’t bring extra medication.

A wonderful happy day yesterday, everyone in great form and really delicious food. So much to be grateful for, and I am.

Lovely to read about happy Christmas celebrations and wishing everyone safe journeys and a peaceful day. 🦩🦩🦩

Abitbarmy Mon 26-Dec-22 09:49:08

Yesterday went very well, the twins were passed around the whole time and didn’t create too much. DGd loved her microphone and had us all singing nursery rhymes. I think after 46 yrs I’ve finally mastered the most stress free Xmas dinner prep and cooking, must make notes for next year. Everyone is still coughing a bit and I feel a bit yuck most of the time but it will pass. The days are lengthening and I’m starting to think of sowing some peppers and getting back out on the allotment asap. A short but refreshing walk is called for today and a game with DD plus watching the new Pinocchio this evening. I’m saving CtM till I’m on my own as it’s not her thing. No stress cooking today, just left overs and maybe some mulled wine. Enjoy your day if you can everyone.

Susan56 Mon 26-Dec-22 10:05:47

A late good morning from Shropshire. We have only just woken up.I think all the emotion of the last few days has caught up with us.

Our precious B continues to improve. We had a FaceTime with him yesterday. He didn’t say much but we had a smile and a thumbs up.

Today will hopefully be a quiet day.

Marydoll I hope you feel better after a day in bed and thoughts to everyone unwell, with family members unwell and those who are finding the Christmas season difficult.

Urms, I feel like you and am glad when Christmas Day is done.DH is the opposite and loves it all.

Thank you again for all your good wishes for B.

Good morning all from the Black country, frost overnight still plenty of ice around. Dil going for early morning swim so will probably have to break the ice first.
Lovely day yesterday, and so nice to finally meet the Ukrainian family such a shame about the circumstances, we were treated to some Ukrainian cake and salads in the evening, they have fitted in with their host family so well.
Quiet chill day today.
So pleased to read there is improvement with Susan Dgs.
I will now catch up with everybody's happenings.
Enjoy your Boxing day and may you all find some 🌞.

Grandmabatty Mon 26-Dec-22 10:09:05

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry, although wintry showers are forecast. Yesterday I had a nice time with dd, sil and the boys. Dgs1 was so excited by the presents and told me he had seen Santa in his bedroom. I went home for a while in the afternoon and returned later for dinner. Dd had made a lovely Christmas dinner.
Today I'm up very late for me. I quite enjoyed it. I have no plans beyond catching up with tv programmes. It'll be a solitary day for me but I don't mind that. Copious leftovers for dinner courtesy of dd. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire, the village is alive with sounds of people with large loud guns killing birds ( hey it’s the countryside, let’s go and kill something for pleasure grrrr) so the dog is afraid to go out as we are surrounded by woods and Shoots.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas Day and a more peaceful day than we will get (until it gets dark and the guns they go home.)
Have a good one everybody.
