Happy New Year to all of thee and all the best for 2023.

Good morning all from a bright and breezy Black country, a pleasant sart to the year.
A quiet day again today, will take down the cards and tidy round a bit.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some 🌞

Good Morning from S Yorks, a bit of rain but quite a light sky, BBC says sun tomorrow.

I watched Indiana Jones then some of Moana, not many bangs, short but nice WhatsApp from family at kids bedtime.

Quakers this morning.

May 2023 bring the best life can offer you, and comfort where there is distress.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs and a Happy New Year! It looks dry at the moment and the sky is brightening in South Yorkshire. I said my HNY’s early last night and didn’t stay up but local fireworks woke me briefly. DD and her menfolk are coming here for a roast dinner today - it’s a New Year’s Day tradition.
As Grandmattie said, all change for me, too, this year - I shall be reshaping my life to my new circumstances. In a positive way, though, I hope. There’s no game plan.
Have the best New Year’s Day you can folks.

Wishing everyone on this gentle thread a Happy New Year and thanks to Mick for starting it off every day.
It’s our 51st wedding anniversary today and the sun has just come out here in Shropshire just as it did on our wedding day.
Hope everyone has a safe, peaceful and happy start to 2023.x

Greyduster Sun 01-Jan-23 09:02:04

Good morning and a Happy, healthy and peaceful New Year to you all.
The new calendar and diary are out and seem to be filling up.
No particular plans today so I think a quick tidy up and make a start on a 30 day art challenge I have joined. Some sewing later.
Our next door neighbour who we keep an eye on and help out has given us a side of smoked salmon as a thank you so I ‘m looking forward to eating some with a bagel and cream cheese for lunch.
Wishing you all a good first day of 2023.

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country, where it is a balmy 8 deg!

Late to bed as we didn't arrive home till 12.30, then watch a bit of Jools Holland.

Welcome to this thread Thorntrees and happy anniversary flowers

Condolences Sar53 to you DD and her family.

Thank you to all who share a little tiny window of their lives on here, great to hear about all you 'doings'.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year.

Saw the new year in whilst dozing comfortably in bed, slept well and am glad to see a clear sky after yesterday’s downpour. Lunchtime drinks and nibbles with lovely neighbours, evensong at 3.30 (a new venture) and I expect a phone call or two, but an undemanding day. Hope the new year brings hope and satisfaction and, for some of us, a better year than 2022.

Grandmabatty Sun 01-Jan-23 09:10:05

Welcome to Thorntrees and a happy anniversary to you.

Good morning and happy new year to you all! Thanks, Mick, for starting such a lovely thread each day, and thanks, everybody, for the lovely posts last year.
Hope you all have the best day possible.

Morning all from a dry S Hampshire, Happy New Year. Much to my surprise I stayed up, there were loads of fireworks at midnight, many from the docks some miles away.
Todays plans are fluid, but we must drop my son’s birthday present to him, 32 tomorrow. I’ll get a beef stew in the slow cooker for dinner later.
Happy Anniversary Thorntrees 🎉🎉
Have a gentle day all 🦩🦩

Happy New Year and and another Thank You to you Mick.
Happy New Year everyone. I’m hoping it’s an improvement on last year’s. I don’t necessarily believe the doom merchants, I’m going to be optimistic.

Yesterday’s retail therapy was successful, I relieved myself of some cash! The game counter was a bit sparse though, no re-stocking after Christmas, the results of the traditional (still?) Boxing Day shoot hadn’t appeared. I nabbed what was left and stocked the freezer. My visit to the garden centre for my free coffee and ‘just a recce’ resulted in me leaving with plants! Some primroses and an irresistibly beautiful little Norfolk Island pine. It’s a houseplant here and apparently only generally available for Christmas hence it
being over 50% off now or I wouldn’t have bought it.
Today I’ve loaded the washing machine, will have a gentle tidy up, do a little admin and finish off the papers. I might get out for a stroll or work in the garden but that depends on whether the rain holds off. Scotland and the South seem to have had lots of it, here, not so bad. Odd.

Wishing you all an enjoyable day!

Good morning all and a very Happy New Year. Let's hope its blessings are many and troubles are few. I too thank you, Mick, for this lovely thread. Even when I don't post, it's there for company. Thank you all!
I certainly haven't lacked for company this Christmas and New Year, having come down to Notts to spend Christmas with DD's New Man and the Five Teens (and two dogs). It was lovely, and NM was the perfect host. We all then came over to Lincs, where I am now, for a meal with DS2 and his family on the 28th. It's back over to NM's tomorrow where my 'taxi' (aka DD) is waiting to take us back up home. I feel so blessed to have all these lovely people in my life who can be bothered with this 'Auld Biddy' 😉
I'm quite looking forward now to getting home and resuming normal life - though I'll miss all my lovely people.
Grandmattie it has indeed been the most dreadful couple of years for you and I wish you peace, tranquility and joy as you now move forward a little. And for you Marydoll some better support from our crumbling NHS. Mick I wish you better health in the year to come - and lots of enjoyable trips.
Happy New Year and the best of health and luck to all of you xxx

Good morning all and a Happy New Year from a quiet , not actually raining, Co Armagh!
I gave in and went to bed at 11 , I left my phone in the kitchen so there were a few messages from last night to answer
Eldest has been here for a few days and leaves this morning , it was lovely to see him , his siblings enjoyed his company too
I got Mass last night on the iPad , so nothing planned for today ,
I’m tempted to secrete the remaining chocolates in the bin ! How does weight go on so quickly , but won’t shift as quickly?

luluaugust Sun 01-Jan-23 09:34:15

God morning from a sunny W Kent. In the end we stayed up and saw the New Year in, loads of fireworks going off all evening so we couldn't have slept anyway. Quiet day today , a few phone calls and DH making his favourite casserole which will take him a while.
Wishing you all a peaceful New Year.

A Happy New Year I was in bed by 10pm but had a really bad night noise from fireworks then a very windy rainy night which is still around now. We are at daughters for a meal later today . Thank you all for posting on this supportive thread.💐

Urmstongran Sun 01-Jan-23 09:42:29

Good morning everyone from south Manchester and a Happy New Year to you all! We hope to enjoy a laid back celebratory meal of champagne and carvery barms over at our daughter nd son in law’s house. They have more space and I’m happy about that hehe! We will fetch my stepfather. I’ve only a small tray of stuffing to make and I’vealready got a bottle of VC rosé chilling in the fridge.
😊

Happy Anniversary Thorntrees🥂🍾 and welcome to this lovely thread 👋

Thorntrees Sun 01-Jan-23 09:51:45

Thank you for the welcome,a bit premature saying we had sunshine as it’s just poured down- but a lovely rainbow in the sky. I will take that as a sign of better things to come.
Off now to sort out the freezer to see what is left in there before the next on-line shopping order next week.

Good morning all and a happy New Year from South Lanarkshire where it’s damp but not actually raining.

Thank you Mick for this thread which keeps us connected each day.

DS and family will come to us today and stay overnight. We will have the traditional steak pie meal which isn’t my favourite but they will enjoy it.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Nannagarra Sun 01-Jan-23 10:00:42

Happy New Year everyone.
It is dry, calm and gloriously sunny here in this corner of Sefton. DGC will be with us today.
Many congratulations on your 51st WA Thorntrees.
