Hello

So what would you like to happen? Either personally, politically, socially, whatever.
And what do you think will happen?

I think we’ll all agree that last year was pretty rubbish.

I really hope that everyone has a really good 2023.

Me, I really want to move house (with MrC) to be closer to my dad.
Back to the Black Country smile
It’s something that we should ages ago, but work, Covid and health got in the way.

Happy New Year GN friends x

I hope the government gets to grips with the Social Care system which seems unable to run itself. A heavy bureaucratic system hobbled by it's own tortuous procedures from my extensive experience of working with it and it it for many years. Money alone won't fix it.

A magic wand to be waved over the poor NHS

FannyCornforth Sun 01-Jan-23 07:49:34

I can’t see anything happening at all until we get a new government.
It’s like we are in a period of total stasis with a caretaker PM

For Nephew to get his CT scan, postponed twice, for a diagnosis to be made and some pills to help him in his tortured life. Sadly I don’t think there are any pills that will help him.

For a pill that will cure MissOops Arthritis in her hands, they are starting to curl up.

For the war in Ukraine to just Stop.

For the Government to actually start to rule the country as they should or get out and let someone else do it, preferably by next week at the latest.

That the NHS is taken out of Politics and run properly.

Seems all my wishes are pie in the sky.

kittylester Sun 01-Jan-23 08:38:47

I second the NHS being taken out of politics. I would do the same with social care.

merlotgran Sun 01-Jan-23 08:40:42

Ditto the NHS and a magic wand.
An end to the war in Ukraine.
An end to fuel poverty.
Harry and Meghan to just Shut Up!

MaizieD Sun 01-Jan-23 08:53:22

A General Election
End to the Ukraine war, with victory for Ukraine.
People to just stop talking about H & M
Lots of tory politicians and donors getting their just deserts for ruining my country...

lixy Sun 01-Jan-23 09:03:42

Agree with all the above.

My mega-wish is for politicians to be honest, but that really is pie in the sky I think.

And thinking towards the end of 2023, for Christmas not to be such an emotional powder keg for so many people.

I like merlotgran list.

Apart from the obvious - end of wars, good health for everyone, I wish for my anxiety to go away. It's spoilt my life.

Ditto..
End of that awful War in Ukraine.

SusieB50 Sun 01-Jan-23 12:27:24

All of the above too, NHS and Social Care should not be used as a political pawn. I hope the Rail services are re- nationalised and someone manages to get rid of Putin for the sake of everyone.

I like merlotgran list.

Me too...and I would add that I'd like World leaders to take climate change more seriously and that poor countries get proper compensation and help

Chrissielou Sun 01-Jan-23 13:36:23

That the crisis in the NHS is cured, that there are fewer people forced to use food banks, that families can afford to switch their heating on and keep their children warm and top of the list... we get a new government who have a social conscience and actually give a damn.

Fanny, I hope you find a lovely new home near your precious Dad flowers

FannyCornforth Sun 01-Jan-23 18:03:11

Thank you Jane
I honestly don’t know how I will / can go about it

Putin to be overthrown and an end to the war in Ukraine. Recognition of Palestinian rights and an end to conflict in the Middle East.
An end to human rights abuses everywhere.

halfpint1 Sun 01-Jan-23 18:16:44

I would like to see some positive indication that we can/are
making a difference to climate change.
Here in Central France today its 20°c , normally its 0°c
We have a Ski centre not far away with no snow

it will be easier than you think

Iam64 Sun 01-Jan-23 18:28:11

Putin to lose power and Russia to be led by someone who isn’t a deranged psychopath. The war on Ukraine would stop

The various reports into health and social care be properly evaluated and put into action

NHS to be funded like it is in other European countries - ie properly

The tories to either start acting like a compassionate, well informed government or redign

MerylStreep Sun 01-Jan-23 18:41:20

Putin to drop dead right now. I would liked him to suffer for longer but needs must when the devil drives.
No one else in the regime will take up the mantle, job done.
And all of the above.

MrsKen33 Sun 01-Jan-23 18:52:37

Second that about Putin Merylstreep
Peace and stability is what we all need.

Iam64 Sun 01-Jan-23 18:58:34

Ok MerylStreep - I’m happy with your Putin plan.
