Why did you choose your Gransnet Name?

I had a lovely trip to the Isle of Skye.

GD1 had two grandmothers who expected to be Granny so she had Granny Suffolk (sadly no longer with us) and Granny Somerset. Granny Suffolk actually became Hammy, so I was left as just Granny.

I live in the West Country where stories of King Arthur abound. Avalon was taken already although I’ve not seen anyone posting as that, so I put 25 in front for silver which is the name I gave my first computer. Also we have several apple trees.

I left Gransnet, then I came back. In Spanish. No, I'm not Spanish. 😆

I was being a mean girl when I was thinking a name. Where I live people do not have daughters they have princesses.And they dress them in pink. So I thoughtI will be a pink princess although I am a great grandmother.

Because I live on a corner - and could think of nothing else.

I grew up with lots of hens. They were my friends, until mum wrung their necks.

My Italian grandmother who lived near Florence used to call my Fiorentina when I stayed with her.

Simply a nickname from childhood.

It’s my daughters nickname for me occasionally.

Mine started with the gem - my friend use to call me that it stands for good earth mum 😂, I like to grow a lot of the fruit and veg we eat along with my herbs, I love baking and make all our bread, I make chutney and jams, and well old fashioned I suppose. We were good friends, and the name was given with love, and I use it with fond memories.

I’m now a nana, still bake, and sew and garden, so I’m now a nana gem 😁

It’smy first grandchilds early attempt at saying ‘Grandma’

That was my first grandchild's attempt at saying ''Grandma'' as well!.
She is 31 this week.

Mine is the name of a long deceased family pet. I've used it on several forums, mainly because my mind goes completely blank when asked for a password or pseudonym so I just use the same one. I have a sad lack of imagination when it comes to being creative ☹️

I’d tried using a few sensible names but they were all taken , frustrated by it I just wrote the first silly name that sprung to mind and it were free ! Surprise surprise !

I was sitting there wondering what to call myself. I played with a few names and I literally went crazy - so I thought , that’s it “CrazyH it will be “

First letter of family names.

My original name was too obvious so I changed it to my natural hair colour sadly it does not exist!

Simple really. Was after something short & the year defines me.
Then it's like Jo90 - my alter-ego makes me smile 😂

Because Maddy is the derivative of my middle name and I just stuck the one on the end because someone else already had Maddy as their user name. My daughter has already worked out who I am anyway but I’m not bothered. No one else knows who I am.

And I prefer the name Maddy to my actual first name. I should have have changed over years ago but feel it’s too late now.

Because I had a preference for someone at the time.

I like the play on words of "re-tired". Like the thought of being recycled into the many roles and guises in my life.

It's what my late husband called me.

Because I love puffins!
