Some of the names that you ladies have chosen quite intrigue me, and I wonder the story behind them. Mine is in remembrance of both my Grandmothers.

My name is based on an Irish Queen. I come from NI and liked the sound of it. I also like to be a bit anonymous on sites and felt this suited the bill.

Our first family dog’s name.

prestbury Wed 04-Jan-23 12:47:50

The Cheshire village where my 15th century ancesters come from, unfortunately now to expensive to live in millionaires row.

Greyduster Wed 04-Jan-23 12:51:48

It is the name of a tiny artificial fly that has caught me many trout in small streams. It is, like me, small, grey and deadly!😂

nexus63 Wed 04-Jan-23 12:54:32

mine was a name that my son used online for games.

AGAA4 Wed 04-Jan-23 13:32:19

All initials of family members. If I'd had more time to think I would have come up with something
more interesting

Norah Wed 04-Jan-23 13:53:37

"Come Away With Me" is a favourite.

grNadpa Wed 04-Jan-23 14:16:49

"Small, grey and deadly", Greyduster? Terrific.

Thanks, DaisyAlice, for starting this truly compelling thread.

My moniker began as a typo a number of years ago. Accenting the second syllable, I enjoy how it rolls of the tongue.

Yes, I'm that easily entertained.

biglouis Wed 04-Jan-23 14:26:40

Biglouis was a large tortoise I had as a kid. He used to climb into the kitchen cupboards and push the dishes out.

It was the "catchprase" of a Catherine Tate character named Derek

BlueSapphire Wed 04-Jan-23 15:46:11

Because we had just celebrated our 45th (Sapphire) wedding anniversary.

Shelmiss Wed 04-Jan-23 15:47:26

A combination of my two dogs names.

foxie48 Wed 04-Jan-23 17:06:43

Mine is based on my horse's posh name. I sadly had to have her PTS in the summer but at least my username reminds me of how lovely she was!

IrishDancing Wed 04-Jan-23 17:24:55

I’m Irish and wanted Irisheyes but it was taken. I enjoyed Irish dancing at school. I wish I could have thought of something smarter because I don’t really like it - any ideas?

timetogo2016 Wed 04-Jan-23 17:31:10

Because it took me 32ish years to walk away from horrible marriage.
And the year date is when i found out something that really affected me,and still does.

Curlywhirly Wed 04-Jan-23 19:08:54

It rhymes with part of my real name and was my nickname at primary school. It has nothing to do with my hair - which is straight!

Witzend Wed 04-Jan-23 19:14:05

For what I would hope are obvious reasons, it was the name I used for several years on a forum for carers of people with dementia, and I couldn’t be bothered to think of another.

ExperiencedNotOld Wed 04-Jan-23 19:19:45

I work with many younger than me. It’s a running joke as I’m at least 15 years older than some, twice as old as others.

MawtheMerrier Wed 04-Jan-23 19:30:01

BlueSapphire

Because we had just celebrated our 45th (Sapphire) wedding anniversary.

Irishgirl? Irishlass? Irishcolleen?

LucyLocket55 Wed 04-Jan-23 21:34:09

My horse’s name

Seabear Wed 04-Jan-23 21:54:00

The name of a ship in one of my favourite books - Great Northern? by Arthur Ransome. My Mumsnet name is also an AR tribute - Squashyhat from Pigeon Post.

Morvenne Wed 04-Jan-23 23:39:37

It's the name of the street my Gran lived in.

DaisyAlice Thu 05-Jan-23 14:49:28

Without giving our identities away I feel the stories being the names make the postings a little more personal somehow. Thanks again.

TwinLolly Thu 05-Jan-23 15:49:15

Being a twin and my nickname grin
