Quick response from St Anthony!

I think “Don’t put it down! Put it away” is more helpful.

When I worked in the Recird Room of a very large hospital, we had thousand upon thousand of patient records filed in numerical order, so of course some sometimes got "misfiled". We had a supervisor who was very religious, and used to go home and pray to St Anthony that the missing file would turn up the next day. And do you know it did ....and if not the next day, sometime very soon after....the power of prayer and St Anthony seem to go hand in hand.

I've been reading about St Anthony who predates the reformation - when we Christians were all Catholic. phew

It's sad that he is mainly known for finding missing things, including missing people, while his work amongst the poor and his life is mostly forgotten. Thanks Marydoll for pointing this out.

I do not think so anyone can ask i always ask st Anthony I always end up finding what I am missing. Pray to st Christopher when travelling for a safe journey, padre pie for healing when anyone is sick.

My Aunt was a great one for praying to St. Anthony. I have, too. I don't know a Catholic who hasn't relied on him sometime. No, absolutely you do not have to be Catholic. You simply must be sincere. Good results to everyone out there who will be praying to St Anthony.

I love st Anthony he never lets me down. And those who so rudely criticise us for having faith and enjoying religion should stop their harsh over the top responses, and mind their own beeswax!!

How far back will he be prepared to go to find things? I lost a book about five years ago which had a bookmark made by my very young DGS at that time, I know it’s in my small house somewhere!☹️

I've never heard of St Anthony before, its a sweet and harmless belief. I'm not religious in the slightest but do live in a very old rectory and being absent minded often mislay things. I like to think that we have a friendly 'finder ghost' as lost things are always turning up.....I always thank them for their help of course.

Years ago when I was a nurse , we had a bank nurse on the ward one day . She was newly engaged and showed us her diamond ring . A short while later she panicked because she had lost it from her pocket where she had put it as no jewellery was allowed to be worn .
We all searched everywhere on the ward but no sign of it . An Irish nurse suggested that she ask St Anthony to help her , which she did . A short while later during a lull one nurse said to the girl , ‘look’ pointing at the floor of the nurses station, and there was the ring totally unharmed. The nurses station had been searched thoroughly including the floor so goodness knows how it was there but she was so happy to have it back .

St Anthony never lets me down! I once lost my precious engagement ring, looked everywhere, even down the loo in case I'd dropped it in by accident. Finally, in desperation, I got the loo brush and felt right down and round the bend. Lo and behold, it was out of sight - I'd cleaned my face with tissues, picked them up from the surface, and dropped them down the loo with the ring stuck to them. Gave it a good wash! Thank you St Anthony...

I always ask St Anthony if i have mislaid something, and he has always been there for me. Amazing.

I am not familiar with the idea of St Anthony. It does seem a lot friendlier than the other helper I have heard of. ie sticking a needle in the back of the sofa saying "Pin the Devil"

If St Anthony knows where a letter I have been hunting for days has gone, I would be very grateful for his help.

Perhaps he would prefer it if I just put things in the right place instead of piling them up and then having to hide them in a hurry when visitors come...

You may well be right!

The other method is to buy a replacement item and the lost one appears exactly where you thought it was.

I'm deffo no god-botherer but some fond it comforting so I say live and let live, so long as nobody tries to convert me or shove their beliefs on me I'm cool with whatever others believe. And this coming from a gal brought up by the Catholic mafia too!! I got chucked out for good behaviour......

Hmm...what hocus pocus is this I hear?! It's a weird one, how even though you may have deffo looked at that place before, when you look again....there it is! This happens so often there's something afoot and t'aint natural 😅

Oh Saint Anthony has bailed me out so many times. He is great for finding parking spaces.

I though that was the parking fairy? That's who my friend calls upon, and it often works

I'd forgotten about St Anthony! I've now asked him to help me find the lovely calendar I bought last year in Peggs Cove Canada which at the time we said it would cheer us up in the dark winter days back home. I remember unpacking it and then ???? I might also try another of my late mum's 'helpful' suggestions and tie a knot in a hankie!

My DM was brought up a Catholic , attended a convent and knew all the saints and prayers.
These are the things she never forgot despite losing her Catholic faith and becoming a Quaker later on.
I am sure my God will not disown me for asking for assistance from wherever it may come!

It’s always illuminating to have information from one who has a hotline to what god is thinking, and er……hates.
