Quick response from St Anthony!

I missed my passport recently - a relatively new one - certainly had it on return from hols in September. It was always kept in a small drawer in the hall - not there, nor in any bag or pocket I might have taken on holiday. Nor in any other drawer.
Complete mystery!

Before applying for a new one (assuming I had somehow dropped it or had it nicked after passport control) , I asked St Anthony, and lo, a couple of hours later dh found it - in the glove compartment of my car - which in fact I don’t use very often at all - dh uses it far more - and which we didn’t use to or from the airport in September anyway - we took taxis.

Dh said I might have used it as ID when collecting a parcel but if anywhere local I’d have walked or bussed, and I don’t recall collecting any parcels anyway.

Still a complete mystery what it was doing there!

Our missing passports were found about three weeks later in the bottom of the drawer where I keep the tea towels, after fruitless searches, sleepless nights and thinking I would have to order new ones.

Only then I remembered I had hidden them in there after using them as I/D for something, but didn’t have time to lock them back in the safe.

Completely forgot I had done that!

Lesson learnt, now I try to put things away immediately.

Grew up with a mother who always reminded us to ask St. Anthony to help us find anything we’d lost. It rarely failed!

I will try St Anthony next time I lose something. I spend far too much time searching for things.

St Anthony is definitely the Man to ask when you have lost something. he never lets you down.

What a relief! Passports are not cheap. My bag was stolen once complete with purse and passport and I had to get a new passport and bank cards etc. That was painful.

I have lost my specs yet again and was wondering if someone could please invent a homing device for glasses - or perhaps there is such a thing?

I'm calling for Saint Anthony right now.

I believe in the power of Prayer, be it to,Saint Anthony or to a Higher Presence …

Chestnut Sun 15-Jan-23 17:33:37

Do you have to be Catholic to ask St Anthony? I'd never heard of him before, but I have currently lost something so would be grateful for his help.

Farzanah Sun 15-Jan-23 17:36:42

Will a”Higher Presence” help if you have an incurable condition crazyH?

Grammaretto Sun 15-Jan-23 17:37:51

I think you just go for it Chestnut
Any port in a storm....grin

crazyH Sun 15-Jan-23 17:38:36

Chestnut 😂 - no, you don’t have to be a Catholic to pray to St Anthony - try it. And let us know if you find it ..

Chestnut Sun 15-Jan-23 17:41:10

You should say 'St Anthony, please look around. Something is lost and must be found.' I've tried it, will let you know if it works.

crazyH Sun 15-Jan-23 17:48:31

Farzanah - I have been struggling with that dilemma all my life. I wish I had an answer. All I can say is, I have faced quite a few ‘difficulties’ in my life, but I found the strength to cope .

Farzanah Sun 15-Jan-23 17:53:05

Thank you for your honest answer crazyH.
I find meditation helps me through difficult times. I guess it’s similar to praying if you don’t believe in supernatural beings.

No, Chestnut, I’m not - nor even any sort of churchgoer - an Irish friend introduced me to St A ages ago.

St Anthony always finds lost items for me

veejay Sun 15-Jan-23 22:39:48

I must do this.I have lost my newest pair of glasses.I know they are in this house somewhere
Things are always disappearing and turning up somewhere I have searched more than once

Farzanah Mon 16-Jan-23 10:09:36

It’s nothing to do with St Anthony. It’s the Borrowers replacing stuff.

Wheniwasyourage Mon 16-Jan-23 11:45:53

Maybe St Anthony is a Borrower. I could live with that if he's prepared to put things back after a while.

Grammaretto Mon 16-Jan-23 18:07:34

My glasses have turned up!
I didn't leave them on the hillside yesterday. I must have left them in the kitchen, or did I?
Thank you St Anthony 🤣

My mother was a great believer in St Anthony, but asking his help always involved money "a penny to St Anthony" was offered. In Ireland, shops often had a charity box with a picture of St Anthony, for donations - but only when missing item was found. However, if you didn't pay, another item was liable to go missing!

I've followed my mother's belief, even though I'm not very religious. However, inflation had caused the money offered to increase - I relate the amount to the value of the item!

Praying to dead saints is Mediumship, Spiritism, a form of Witchcraft all forbidden and hated by God. You have also judged Anthony- another sin, expressly forbidden by God. You have no idea if Anthony is judged a true saint or not. That is Jesus' call, and his alone on Judgement Day. You are engaging in superstitious godless pagan idolatry. Just so you know. Glad your passport turned up after all that searching for it. Now, no more talking to dead people.

St. Anthony, your opinion, please? smile

Moggycuddler Tue 17-Jan-23 11:36:41

It's time people moved away from superstition, and I include religion in that. The "power of prayer" does not help people who often need it most. Those with terminal illnesses, sick children, the homeless and helpless. It's delusion. Those who pray and do recover from illness would have recovered anyway, and, sorry dear grans, but you would have found your lost items anyway.

The economy has been misplaced. Will St Anthony help?
