Good morning Mick and all from a cold and dark Oxfordshire, if I open the curtains I’ll wake the dog up and as she is snoring peacefully on the spare bed I’ll leave her, so I don’t know what’s happening weather wise.
What a long way to go to Banbury Mick, I wonder why the appointment isn’t at the JR? I hope it goes well for you.
I have a shingles vaccination today, I’ve never had Chicken Pox, but apparently I can catch Chicken Pox from someone who has Shingles and then I will be at risk of getting Shingles later, I seem to be immune to Chicken Pox and GermanMeasles, odd, but there you are. I expect my Mum was relieved that I escaped at least 2 childhood illnesses.
Hopefully the Ukraine Truck will be arriving today, we are surrounded by boxes and I need to clean, I suppose if you are relying on a donated vehicle and volunteer drivers it’s difficult to specify the exact dates.
Apart from that it’s a normal cleaning, dog walking and laundry day. Left overs from Sunday roast so no cooking. Nephew came over too and seemed on good form which was a nice surprise.
I hope everyone’s appointments, travel plans and Duvet days all go well, let’s hope we see some sunshine today. Have a good one everybody.

Good morning all from chilly Harrogate- temperature zero!
Yesterday felt sick so didn’t go to church took a while to pass, but OK later.
Good luck with the scan today Mick take care the rest of the day.
Safe journey Nannyjan- I haven’t been to Budapest either.
GrandMattie glad the service was easier than last week.
Greyduster a duvet day sounds good.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from a gloomy Sefton. Damp underfoot with raindrops on the window so it has been raining overnight. Dry at the moment & very cold.
A lovely busy day yesterday with both sons & granddaughters for lunch. GD1 stayed for the afternoon to give mum & dad some free time. Then out for a Sunday roast at a local restaurant.
Singing this morning. Always an uplifting start to the week. We will leave our session smiling.

Anniebach Mon 16-Jan-23 08:04:17

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 16-Jan-23 08:06:52

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I had a peek through the curtains and it’s dark, damp and dismal. Should be a typical Monday today. Waitrose, laundry and ironing. I may try out my new soup maker at lunchtime. I’ve already taken some pheasant stock out to defrost. I hope all those with difficulties have a better day.

GrannySomerset Mon 16-Jan-23 08:07:43

Grey skies and noticeably colder this morning and staying put in bed is tempting but I am committed to driving two friends to U3A this morning so must get going. Hate January but won’t get to spring without it.

Good luck with your hospital visit, Mick, and hope that everyone’s plans for the day work out well.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 16-Jan-23 08:10:40

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. Sun and a 3 degree temp today.

I didn’t get on the thread yesterday with getting up so late after our get together. The last guests left at 2am. It was a great party everyone enjoyed it.
Grammaretto two of my guests who are friends of my sister in law came and they brought me a hamper made from lots of lovely foods from the Scottish Borders where they live. As they walked in they apologised straight away as they didn’t know I was coeliac so a lot I can’t personally use but it was incredibly kind of them. We have been invited to visit them later this year.

Best wishes for your CT scan Mick.
NannyJan safe journey have a great time.

Have a safe day everyone stay warm and virtual hugs to those feeling under the weather who need a duvet day today. 🌻🌻

Hope all goes well with the scan today mick don’t overdo the walking
This morning I’m going to the Zumba class at the gym and then a bit of shopping at Tesco. I’ll be home by lunchtime then I’ll just do a bit of housework this afternoon and try to keep warm
Sorry to hear you’ve had a restless night greyduster take it easy today, brighter warmer days will be on their way soon
Have a great trip Nannyjan and safe travels!

SunshineSally Mon 16-Jan-23 08:18:18

Good morning all from a wet and windy south Hants.
I hope those with medical appointments go as well as they can, with good outcomes.

Not much planned for today other than a DDog walk between the showers 🤞 - although we do need to make a start on sorting and clearing the —junk room— spare bedroom!

Have the best day you can. Thinking of those that are unwell and/or are feeling unwell.
A hug 🤗 and 🌻 for you all x

Pittcity Mon 16-Jan-23 08:20:08

Good morning from Colchester where it's been a rainy night and the "feels like" temperature on my weather app is in minus figures all day.
Thinking of hibernation.
Admin and holiday booking today, so mostly keeping warm except for putting the bins out later.
Will settle down with a cuppa now and read the rest of the thread. I do love being retired on days like this.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning from a Nippy Co Armagh,
Up early as DD has an early appointment, then going to look for a tiny handbag !
I don’t do tiny , but it seems my nice designer bag would count as cabin baggage on EasyJet
Can anyone confirm this ? 🤣🤣🤣

Liberty Mon 16-Jan-23 08:21:39

Good morning from a grey and drizzly Suffolk. I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning having ‘ stood her up’ on 3rd because of my carelessness in transferring things from my 2022 diary to my 2023 one. She has forgiven me! I will at least buy cake with our coffee.

Hope the day is a good one for all. I feel so privileged to be able to afford to keep warm and well fed in these these very cold days when so any people here and elsewhere can’t.

Gingster Mon 16-Jan-23 08:30:12

Good morning all and I noticed a smattering of snow on the conservatory roof. Very wet here in Essex.

Safe and problem-free journey nannyjan 🤞. Enjoy your break.

Hope all goes well for you today Mick.

Hope you feel better soon annsixty and Marydoll.

Yesterday was pleasant with Dd , twin gs’s and little gd. We played charades and she did her weekend homework. Such a little academic. 😉. The boys and grandad watched football on tv.

Today I’m meeting my friend for lunch at a local pub in town. It will be a long-un! I’ll walk up and then back home. Her daughter is my gd’s teacher. We’ve known each other since before the ‘girls’ were born . About 50 years.

Have a ‘good’ day all and keep cosy!

Taichinan Mon 16-Jan-23 08:32:23

Good morning Mick and all. -2° here on the Angus coast, but my BBC weather app is showing a lovely display of 🌞🌞🌞🌞, so I'll take that! Nothing much on today, although hopefully Andy the Handiman is coming to investigate a small leak in the kitchen. If he doesn't make it I shall have to give in and find a plumber - but their call-out charges are so high.
I've already forgotten the names of who is doing what today. Nothing sinister, but I find I'm useless at remembering names without a picture of the person in my mind. However, let's see what I can do. Glad you found the service more bearable Grandmattie. Safe travels today Nannyjan to Budapest and enjoy your short break. Lovely photo Grammaretto, but how annoying to lose your glasses - I'd be lost without mine. Ash I'm so glad your feeling back to normal now and looking forward to going back to France. Marydoll just coorie doon out of the cold - you're in the best place today. And enjoy every one of those 19° Urms, sunburn and all! I'm sorry for all those I have missed on my memory exercise trip, but have the best day you can and keep warm. January always seem to be double the length of every other month, but it always comes to an end x

monk08 Mon 16-Jan-23 08:35:40

Good morning from the Black country less windy calm before the storm.
Mick hope all goes well with the scan.
NannyJan have a lovely time and safe travels.
I found another egg buried amongst my lilies yesterday looks like the fox has made another visit.
Will reunite myself with the duster today methinks it may be lonely.
DH has a fishing meeting at the club this evening so I'll have an empty.
Take care all enjoy your day whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Nannagarra Mon 16-Jan-23 08:38:22

Good morning from wet and windy Sefton. Not surprisingly, the roofers haven’t appeared.
Childminding for us; later we’re on puppy sitting duty.
Very best wishes for your scan Mick.
Thinking of you all.
❄️ 🌬 ❄️

luluaugust Mon 16-Jan-23 08:48:04

Good morning all from a grey, wet W Kent. Early start as the gas man has come to call! it is a Monday morning. After he has gone everything will have to be put back and a pile of ironing awaits.
Best wishes to all

SusieB50 Mon 16-Jan-23 08:48:23

Good morning from a very wet and cold East London . Yesterday was busy and lively .DD and 2 GDC stayed Saturday night after going to the immersive VanGogh experience. They all enjoyed it . Both GDC are early risers and are raring to go the moment their eyes are open . Pancakes and chaos reigned! This eve DS is hopefully popping in to put the legs back on a table I have bought from our local hub Late DH made our dining room table many years ago but it’s too large and heavy now , an emotional decision to get rid of it though . The sellers very kindly delivered it as they co- incidentally know my DS ! DH also made our bed also heavy and difficult to move but that’s a step too far at present 😕.

Alygran Mon 16-Jan-23 08:52:01

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s damp and grey at the moment.
Off on the village ‘striders and strollers’ walk at 10. I expect to get very muddy.
flowers for annsixty, marydoll and greyduster and anyone else who would like them.
Safe travels, meet-ups and scans.
Have a good day.

EkwaNimitee Mon 16-Jan-23 08:55:15

Good morning Mick and everyone from snowy but bright Carlisle where it's minus 1 currently. I shall stay firmly in!
Yesterday was lovely, I was out in the front garden, lifting my unsatisfactory little cherry tree which I heeled in in the back. I was pleased to see it had actually made root growth and the hole wasn't full of water so drainage is reasonable. Something bigger and tougher is replacing it but not today!

I'll spend the morning on laundry and housework and continue with a little reorganisation of things plus catch up with my pile of magazines.

Enjoy your holidays and trips out and hoping all of you under the weather see improvements.

Georgesgran Mon 16-Jan-23 09:17:55

Good morning from Durham. I hate this time of year with dark mornings and unpredictable weather - it was cold and frosty first thing when I fed the birds, but it’s now snowing - big flakes and the garden is already covered.
DD2 is driving to Edinburgh and says it’s been very icy so far.
I’m meeting a friend later for coffee - I hope the temperature rises and it’s safe to drive. I live in a cul-de-sac, a steep incline from the main road and I’m right at the top - at least there’s no risk of flooding, but I do catch the wind. ( house does, not me). Getting down the street can be tricky, but getting back up can be nigh on impossible.
Hope Mick’s appointment goes to plan and Marydoll can amuse herself while she’s under ‘house arrest’.
Best wishes to all. X

Sar53 Mon 16-Jan-23 09:24:05

Good morning from a very damp and dismal Essex by the sea.
DH has gone to work on his boat, although he may struggle to get there as there are month long road works starting today and he has also done something to his hip. He won't give in and admit that it is very painful. Men eh !!!!
I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere. Housework awaits and last night's episode of Happy Valley. We had the snooker on til it finished at about 11.
I hope all goes well with your scan today Mick. Look after yourselves everyone else and may your day be the best it can be xx

grandMattie Mon 16-Jan-23 09:53:00

🌷🌷🌷🫂 Marydoll. Nothing wrong with groundhog days…

grandMattie Mon 16-Jan-23 09:55:39

Oood, never say never. I caught mumps, German measles and chickenpox from my children within six months, I was 40 at the time. It was horrible!

hollysteers Mon 16-Jan-23 10:11:48

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest Lancashire coast.
Lovely day in the lakes yesterday with SUNSHINE as Ekwanimitee said😎. The snow covered fell behind Grasmere looked like a big slab of Christmas cake. What stunning scenery we have in these isles! Your photo reminded me of it Grammaretto
Back to earth today with a leaking radiator and I have turned the central heating off…
All the best for your scan Mick, I know Banbury well, going to the market every week with my Aunt during my long summer school holidays there.
Glad the service was more bearable grandMattie and thoughts to anyone with worries.
