Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry here in brackley this morning, might be a little bit cold as well.
I have a need to get out to do a small shop later plus pick up my prescriptions from the chemists.
But otherwise stay local.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a clear, still E Kent. The waning moon still looking lovely.
It was very chilly yesterday, but fortunately, there was little breeze and it was sunny mot of the day.
My lovely decorator m yesterday and spent a couple of hours repainting the lower door frames. They also repainted the radiator and skirting boards “as they had marks”. They really are very kind men too. Chatty and friendly.
A great tai chi session, with coffee afterwards.
Waking up from a nap, I received a surprise phone call from a woman I shared a flat with 50 years ago. We have stayed in touch, rather than being great friends. Everything is catastrophic for her…. She is hard work.
The pc man’s remote repairs seem to be working.🤞
Today, knit and natter. The ladies make blankets, scarves and fingerless gloves for “old” people, which are either given away or sold by Age Concern, where we meet. I just do my own thing…
I hope Marydoll 🌷🌷 is more comfortable today, with all her drugs in hand. May everyone have a contented day. Rest assured that, even if I don’t mention you, I do rejoice with you in happiness or pray for you in misfortune. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a cold -3c South Downs.

Today we have men arriving in hazmat suits to remove a ceiling with asbestos in the mix. This will mean that the bedroom will be totally exposed to the roof and freezing until they replace the ceiling and insulation - hopefully tomorrow.

Apart from that I shall continue pottering through my spring clean so that by the time I can get into the garden I will be totally free.

Hope everyone is well - I have a throat and cough but I think so has everyone else if the papers are to be believed!
Roll on spring.

Good morning, a very cold frosty start here in Wiltshire, peeping out of the window I can see that the cars are white and sparkling in the streetlights.
Today I have a Zoom art tutorial, I need to set up my laptop, might take a while as I’m not tech-savvy!
I had a lovely meandering walk with DDog yesterday morning, I might take her to the village this morning in the car and go somewhere different.
I gave the kitchen a good tidying yesterday, very satisfying 😄
I hope today goes well for you all x

Ashcombe Wed 18-Jan-23 06:35:15

Good morning from a snowy Torbay! A rare event but we’ve had a covering overnight.

We are due to set off for Portsmouth today for an overnight stay before catching the morning ferry to Ouistreham. It’s five months since I last stayed at DH's home. It was disappointing that, due to my need to recover in this country, we weren’t able to be there for Christmas.

I hope everyone stays well and warm. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Nannagarra Wed 18-Jan-23 06:36:25

Good morning from Sefton where it’s 4 degrees and wet underfoot.
Like Mick I need to collect a prescription. At the nail bar I plan to choose a more subtle shade whilst catching up with the lovely Becky’s adventures in Florida. Our DGC will be here later; we’re expecting to look after them when their teachers go on strike.
Whatever you intend to do, have the best day possible.

Good morning from Shropshire.A light covering of snow but forecast for sunshine from 10am.

I have an opticians appointment this morning.I will be glad to go and find out what is causing my blurred vision although I am quite worried as to the cause.

The opticians is in a nearby town with a lot more shops than where we are and also bigger supermarkets so we will take the opportunity to do some shopping.

Safe travels Ash and olddudders.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

kittylester Wed 18-Jan-23 07:37:45

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where we appear to have had snow overnight. Alexa tells me that the temperature is 0°.

DH is up early to get on the phone to the gp. He has a really bad back and is concerned that it is something sinister rather than just a bad back. He has also lost weight! He has, coincidentally, upped his sessions at the gym.

I have an appointment at the surgery for a blood test and then have an M&S collection.

The really exciting thing is that it is Bertie's 11th birthday so we will be popping in with his present and hoping for a huge cuddle in return.

cornergran Wed 18-Jan-23 07:43:04

Morning Mick, morning All from a cold, frosty corner of Somerset.

All clear at the dentist yesterday, very pleasant young woman, hope she will stay. Meter main failed, apparently no more can be done. Routine today, grocery delivery and dust removal.

Safe trip ash and all on the move. Be careful out there. Thinking of all with health worries of any kind

Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 18-Jan-23 07:45:38

Morning all from an icy cold and frosty West Oxfordshire. I am up at the crack of dawn, even before the heating comes on! I am waiting for a parcel which may come as early as 7.40 am. I have been reading about the Bishops not wanting to discuss gay marriage in church. Dismaying. Anyway, our gardener is coming at lunchtime to finish pruning our roses. It is WI tonight so I must sort out the admin. We have at least two new members coming tonight, but sadly one of long time members died this week. Have a good day everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 18-Jan-23 07:52:29

Morning all

It’s very frosty and cold here in S E Essex, I have cooked the 7yr old a bacon sandwich and he is now getting ready for 8am school start. I have a manicure at 10am and then straight to the gym. Whilst I am out the cleaning fairies will work their magic.

Safe journey Ash hopefully Marydoll will have a restful and uneventful day, and our Urmstongran is enjoying the warmth.

Keep warm and enjoy your day whatever you are doing 🙋‍♀️🦩

Grammaretto Wed 18-Jan-23 07:52:53

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 0°c here but the snow has gone and hopefully the ice has melted. I don't like being snowed in.
An df came out from Edinburgh for the day yesterday. I took her to our community café which was very friendly and sociable and has the best scones ever..

Yarn group today and I must finish the cardi. Like yours gMattie several ladies make hats and gloves for charity.

I hope those struggling have a better day and those travelling are safe Ash

Pittcity Wed 18-Jan-23 07:53:31

Good morning from below freezing Colchester. It'll be icy out today.
I'm thinking of giving the coffee meetup a miss as I have a dry throat and blocked nose. I might feel better after a shower and breakfast.
My Mum had tests in hospital yesterday and was sent straight home as they said the results were fine for her age. She feels fine and is happy and chatty. We are mystified as to why her GP was so worried.
Love to all 🦩 x

Gingster Wed 18-Jan-23 07:54:33

Good morning all and it’s frosty here in Essex.

Today will be helping Dd pack up her house ready to move tomorrow . It’s such a huge task for her but we’ll get there … eventually!

Safe journey to Ash and her Dh.
That sounds like a huge job WhitewaveMark. I hope all goes well 🤞.
Hope all appointments go according to plan.

Keep warm and safe on these icy roads. 🙏

karmalady Wed 18-Jan-23 07:54:38

good morning, seems as though s somerset will be freezing and sparkly today.

I did feel like a pupae in a cocoon when I went out yesterday. I did cut my walk short and avoided the steep bits, was concerned about the patches of ice. It will be similar conditions today and probably best avoided

I do hope that you all have a nice calm and peaceful day today

Urmstongran Wed 18-Jan-23 08:06:31

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Málaga where the 🌞 is just up. We haven’t planned what to do with our day yet. The palm trees in the communal gardens are dancing so it’s windy woo out at present.

When I rang my stepfather yesterday I thought his voice sounded more robust. The district nurse had been and he had some haddock for his tea later. He told me there is indoor bowls on tv this week which pleased him. Keeps boredom at bay he said.

kitty I do hope your husband’s fears are groundless and that it’s the exercising that is the cause of his weight loss. Safe journey Ash enjoy your visit to France. A welcome change as you missed being able to go at Christmas.

1 February seems to be gearing up to be one heck of a general strike day. We too might need to be corralled in for childcare if their school is affected. Mind you, the Boy Wonder is in Y6 so it might only be L’il Miss who needs minding. Ah well, at least we’ll be home to help.

Marydoll Wed 18-Jan-23 08:16:42

God morning all from a chilly Glasgow, its 1°C here.

A more upbeat post from me today.
I sorted out the prescriptions problem with the surgery yesterday. The receptionist was the one, who helped me the previous day and asked how I had got on with the pharmacy. She was horrified at what happened.

I also had a telephone consultation with a GP, to discuss my new meds. I was about to start them, but on reading the info leaflet, noticed that there could be contra indications with certain other heart meds that I take and to contact my GP first.
Fortunately, I spoke to one of the GPS, I know well. He explained that this was a possibility, but the dose was quite low and basically, despite all my drug allergies, I have no choice, but to try them. Between a rock and a hard place! Please cross your fingers and toes for me!

I took the bull by the horns and phoned the insurance company, to deal with the damaged ceiling. Because the damage was caused due to water ingress from a central heating leak, the excess is £500! What's the point of paying for insurance???

My day got even better, when I received an unexpected video call from wee Dollie, how my spirit lifted.
We were entertained by news of everything she had done, (including maths and spelling tests) since we last saw her.
I also had a long chat with a tearful DIL, who apologised for not visiting.
Her parents are making her very unhappy and as they are our neighbours, we are trying so hard to remain polite, on friendly terms, but distance ourselves.
Despite having plenty to say, we keep quiet, however, it is extremely difficult, I'm upset at the way the treat her.
I am saddened that DIL cannot visit with Dollie for fear of recriminations for spending more time with us and (and timing the length of her stay) than them.
We accepted long ago, that this is how it is to be.

I was going to cancel my hairdressing appointment today, I'm still not up to driving, but DH has offered to take me.
He thinks getting my hair done and hearing all the local gossip will cheer me up. 😉

Safe journey to all who are travelling, or are unwell.
Susan, I hope you get that eye problem sorted.
Thank you for all your kindness and good wishes, it helps keep me going!
💐 for you all.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 18-Jan-23 08:24:24

Good morning from a freezing and clear skies Oxfordshire.
Dog walking today, some baking and a casserole for dinner tonight and that’s my day.
MrOops is taking MissOops to an Audiology appointment after lunch as the poor girl is very deaf in one ear, the problems that poor girl has! the X-ray Dept. Says that if she gets there early today she might be lucky and get her hands X-rayed, her GP is concerned about her very aggressive Arthritis and thinks there might be more going on there, blood tests will be back today or tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone, stay warm and if you are out walking or travelling take care.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 18-Jan-23 08:29:20

Good morning all from chilly Harrogate- no snow yet
Went to Lidl yesterday, came home with one of their boxes of mixed veg and fruit. DD called round so gave her what we couldn’t use, and this morning doing a slow cooker stew and soup with the remaining veg. Then getting the bus to Knaresborough.
Safe journey Ashcombe. It must be difficult keeping two homes going?
Don’t envy you Whitewatermark having asbestos removed.
I, too, could have 2Dgc here with the teachers strike, so be it. Should be interesting. It’s a long time since I’ve had both together.
Have the best day possible folks

Liberty Wed 18-Jan-23 08:29:34

Good morning everyone from a bitterly cold Suffolk. The sun is already out as it was most of yesterday. It was lovely to have blue sky rather than that dreary grey.

It is my keep fit this morning but, because the lanes around here are so icy,I’m not venturing out until they clear. I had an accident a few months ago when my car was written off so I’m still more apprehensive when driving. There is plenty of sorting out to do in the house to keep me busy and active.

I hope all have the best day they can and those with health or other worries have support in whatever form it takes.

Beechnut Wed 18-Jan-23 08:30:20

Good Morning everyone. I’ve just pulled back the curtains to find a snowy sunrise on Severnside.

I’ll go back and read now but I see you’re off to your other home Ash. Have a safe trip and another (French) Christmas when you arrive 🎄

Have a good day all 🌺

Ashcombe Wed 18-Jan-23 08:31:22

The view from our bedroom after a sprinkling of snow overnight. ❄️⛄️❄️

Grandmabatty Wed 18-Jan-23 08:35:01

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -1°. It's cloudier than the last few days. There has been no more snow and the ice is slowly retreating. Ash safe journey to you both. Urms good to hear that your stepdad sounds better. Susan I hope your eye problem is sorted. Marydoll how sad for your dil. What difficult people her parents seem to be.
Yesterday was a good day with dgs2. He slept better and thus was in a better mood. Still six dirty nappies though. I think I feed him too well! He's almost walking. He stood for quite a while, not holding on to anything before he realised. He's also reaching higher so dd will have to be more careful in her kitchen. Dgs1 was tired after nursery but excited he was going for a sleepover to his grandad and granny's house. I have taught him the first line of To a Mouse so no doubt he'll be reciting it.
Today I'm visiting my friend later in the morning for an hour or so. Apart from that, I'll run the hoover round and get a loaf. Cottage pie again for dinner. Have a good day all.

Greyduster Wed 18-Jan-23 08:36:14

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. There was a lovely sunrise in South Yorkshire, but a really hard frost last night - I thought it had snowed this morning. Just the thing the road menders need to put their new tarmac onto when they return today. Both my neighbour and I were shaking our heads in bemusement at the lunacy of doing a job like that in the depths of winter. At least the boiler came on this morning.
The meeting with Son in Law’s accountant was very productive and I await his action plan with interest.
Soup making for me today. Unless the frost clears there is no possibility of me getting outside for a walk☹️.
Happy travels, Ash!
Hope you have a better day today, Mary.
Have the best day you can folks!

grandMattie Wed 18-Jan-23 08:37:50

Lovely photo, Ash. We too had a teeny weeny sprinkling of snow.
Bon voyage and enjoy your holiday in France 🇫🇷.
