Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry here in brackley this morning, might be a little bit cold as well.
I have a need to get out to do a small shop later plus pick up my prescriptions from the chemists.
But otherwise stay local.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a freezing but sunny East London. I woke in the night for a pit stop and the heating had clicked on . It’s set to come on at night below14!
A good gentle exercise swim yesterday with my friend, first time back for her after a knee replacement and me after 4 weeks following a cataract . We were both very happy even though it took 30 minutes to defrost the car .
Ocado delivery today and dental hygienist ( which I hate) . Also trying to get a quote to have a blocked up doorway reopened. I have changed my rooms around and want the option of putting seating in front of the present only living room door. Think I will get moral support from my friend and neighbour when they visit . He is a retired architect. I am still very anxious regarding getting work done by new workmen, as late DH was a construction manager and he did it all . I have asked for recommendations on out local community Facebook hub .

Good morning everyone. It’s another cold, bright day in my corner of Lancashire. We had another smattering of snow during the night and it’s very icy out there so I won’t be venturing out.

dustyangel Wed 18-Jan-23 10:59:01

Good morning everyone, a blue sky with small grey clouds dotted over it greeted me today it’s 11°. My neighbours row of trees is dancing around but at least they’re not bending double like yesterday. I’ve not read through yet but had to check how Marydoll is this morning after the appalling treatment from the pharmacist.
I’ve to go down to the post office today to sign for something. I don’t think it’s anything exciting though as I’ve not ordered anything. hmm
DH is usually quite willing to go instead as I hate standing in the long queues but needs must so I’ll catch up with you all later.

Good morning everyone from a very frosty and bright Northampton, -2° according to the BBC weather app. Slept in a bit this morning and just enjoying a dark chocolate digestive with a large mug of tea, with a cat keeping my lap warm. She will not settle in the mornings until she has had her daily cuddle.

Had a lovely walk yesterday with our group ending with a lovely cappuccino at the little cafe. It was good to be out in the crisp fresh air and have some company. Continued with my book club read when I got home - Brooklyn, by Colm Toibin; a lovely tale of a young Irish girl's experiences of New York. An easy read for once!

Had bad news that one of my sisters had been admitted to hospital yesterday - apparently she has not been right for some time, compounded by the fact that she is also struggling with a broken wrist and shoulder after a fall just before Christmas. According to the latest missive from my brother they sent her home late in the day, but no more news as to her current state of health. May try ringing later on,.but don't really want to disturb her.

Some washing to do thus morning and then continue reading this afternoon.
Out tonight to my wine club annual dinner at a pub restaurant the other side of town; luckily I have a lift there and back. Looking forward to the company and the meal.

Pleasant journeys to those travelling today ( Ash ), and wishing all a pleasant Wednesday.

Good morning everyone from a sunny and frosty south coast. Having a lazy day today to rest my aching joints. I had a lovely day out yesterday with my allotment pals at the Harold Hillier garden near Romsey which is great for a winter walk but some of the paths were treacherous due to the ice so I’m glad I took my folding walking stick in my rucksack. I might invest in some poles for our next garden visit!

Hope everyone has a good day and the sun is shining wherever you are. Keep warm!

Taichinan Wed 18-Jan-23 09:49:59

PS. Lovely photos Alygran.

Good morning Mick and all from a bright but cold northwest coast. No central heating as DS did his best, but the radiator has had it, now to get in touch with a plumber. Rather than get a new one, as it’s in the kitchen, I’m going to pension it off and save money. I’m walking around the house wrapped up looking like a yeti.
On top of that, my mobile phone has stopped charging, so will be out to a phone shop. These practical matters are a bore.
However, the music club was fun and the company heartening.
My DS cooked a nice pork noodle dish in the evening. Thank heavens I have someone practical to help this arty soul.

Lovely photos Alygran and Ash and thoughts to all with worries.

Happy birthday to Mr Kalu, you have put me in the notion for a fish supper, Kalu!

Beechnut Wed 18-Jan-23 09:40:02

Happy birthday wishes to MrKalu 🎉🎂 Don’t get those glasses mixed up 🤣

Taichinan Wed 18-Jan-23 09:35:02

Good morning Mick and all who follow. We were given a dire warning of heavy overnight snow showers - not a flake! The hills in the middle distance are looking very pretty though with their light covering reflecting the peachy pink of the rising sun.
I had a lovely day in Perth yesterday - a good lunch with my friend in a place I know well but chosen by her because she had never been. As far as the hearing aids go (my prime reason for being in Perth) this is it! My hearing loss is so great now that it's a case of doing the best we can with what is left. I sort of knew that. So I shall continue just getting on with it - it's not the worst disability in the world. And it does afford some laughs. Quite recently I just couldn't make out what DD was trying to tell me although she was sitting in prime position directly across the table from me - so she texted me in mock (I hope, but probably not) exasperation!
Marydoll so glad your mo-jo is returning, your meds are with you and you have a hair appointment. I feel so sorry for your neighbours though - their jealousy is causing such a rift with their DD. Is she an only child? A removal van would seem to be the only solution for them!
Glad you feel better about your Stepfather, Urms. Safe journey to you both back to France Ash - that photo looks so pretty, how can you bear to leave that for warmer climes 😉😄. So sorry for you having to have a job like that done in weather like this, Whitewater - I hope you're weatherproof again very quickly.
Well the sun is shining, so I really must get going - looking northwards, though, there are some ominous looking clouds .....
Have a good day all x

dragonfly46 Wed 18-Jan-23 09:17:22

Good morning it is a beautiful sunny frosty day here in Leicestershire.

Ocado delivery today but I will have to venture to the corner shop as I forgot butter!
EON coming this pm to change our meters but they are outside so shouldn’t disturb us.

DD is moving today. It is complicated as they have still to complete on their old house so it is being done in stages. I think it is adding to the stress though having two houses. At least the previous owners of the new house had it cleaned and left a bottle of champagne.
Just in time for our joint trip to Brighton at the weekend.

Wishing every one a good day.

Kalu Wed 18-Jan-23 09:13:59

Good morning from Glasgow where it is currently 0deg with a hard frost.

I will pop up to M&S food hall later to buy a birthday cake for DH whose birthday it is today. DD1 and the girls will be over after school. By popular demand dinner will be fish and chips from a local F&C shop who serve delicious, freshly caught fish, washed down with rose champagne, rose lemonade for the girls. You may know the F&C shop Marydoll, Catch.

I took a parcel to send to DD2 in Australia to the post office yesterday. First off, due to a cyber attack, no international mail can be posted, however, when I was told the cost of the postage, £77, it wasn’t going to happen anyway! I will have a look at Amazon. Aus to find out if I can arrange a delivery from their site. 🤞

Best wishes for a good day to all.

GrannySomerset Wed 18-Jan-23 09:04:47

Feels cold this morning and is currently raining - ugh! Chickened out of WI last night as didn’t feel brave enough to tackle icy roads and feel a complete wuss, but really can’t cope with an accident on top of everything else.

Bon voyage, Ash, and glad to read slightly better news from Marydoll. Domestic admin this morning and singing this afternoon so had better get going.

EkwaNimitee Wed 18-Jan-23 09:04:43

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny still icy Carlisle. It's currently -1C and there's a few white clouds about. There was a very slow thaw yesterday but the roads, pavements and my patio still look slippy so another day of staying in.
I have a telephone appointment at 10am with the Hep nurse at the hospital. Just an annual check re my haemochromatosis. It was due last July but has been postponed a time or two. They sent me a reminder yesterday but there's a nurses' strike today....We'll see.
Meanwhile I shall occupy myself with a little housework and admin plus I want to research a decorator though the thought of disruption tends to deter me.

Your DH is right about having your hair done Marydoll...it will be good for you, and you must be burning with cabin fever by now!

And wishing all a good day if possible.

baubles Wed 18-Jan-23 08:54:20

Good morning all from frozen South Lanarkshire.

No plans today other than a quick supermarket run. I’ll probably fritter the day away reading and crocheting. My yarn group is on this evening so I’ll go along and find out what’s being planned.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Alygran Wed 18-Jan-23 08:53:32

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear blue sky today and an expected high of 5 degrees.
I had a lovely walk at the arboretum yesterday. It was cold and the ground was frozen but not slippy.
Housework and shopping today in preparation for family coming at the weekend. It would be late DH’s 70th birthday on Saturday and the girls want us to be together.
Hope everyone has a good day.
