Welcome dear Kitcheners. Make yourselves comfortable. There is a tasty, virtually calorie-free buffet ready and waiting.

I could have sworn I posted on here last night but maybe I dreamt it. It was lovely to read so many happy posts.. birthdays.. outings...meals ...health news and Grandchildren delights too.
I'm sorry to hear your PP's sad news Granmarie. That is no age. May she rest in peace. 💐We had a wonderful weekend. We went to Clifton Cathedral for the Rite of Election service. All the people being received into the church at Easter from all over the diocese were there too. It is the first step and everyone signed the book which is kept at the Cathedral and the Bishop greeted all the candidates and their sponsors (that's me for DOH) personally. It was a very moving and emotional service for us both. I couldn't be more proud of him. Yesterday was our perfect sort of day. We were pootling in the garden...he putting up security lights ( to stop me falling down mole holes in the dark)...and other what he calls man jobs ( he knows I could and have done them too but it's lovely not to have to wield drills etc anymore)....me pruning and planting...primulas and muscari and pretty coloured violas ( All on offer at Asda). We went across to see the latest lambs too and thought yet again how blessed we are to have one another and be living this life.

That's a lovely view soop, & a gorgeous portrait of the handsome Collie, I'm not surprised the owners are delighted.

We have a busy "medical" week, tomorrow I have an assessment appointment about my cataracts. Wednesday it's dentist for us both, ( I still have this painful TMJ). On Thursday my DH starts the first of his eye injections, (he's not looking forward to those!).
Lately we seem to have launched from one thing to another.

Warm thoughts for you all, take care in this friendly kitchen.

Beautiful painting Soop

MrB and I did not get to bed until after 2:30am, so were very tired this morning. Got up late and missed the good morning thread. Had porridge for brunch, have been to the dentist for my 6 month check up and hygienist appointment. All good, no work needed. It’s very chilly here, now settled down in my Oodie listening to a book.

Blossoming Mon 27-Feb-23 16:00:56

Gillgran I was given exercises for my TMJ and I also have a soft splint for my lower jaw to prevent bruxism at night. I do sometimes have to follow a soft diet when it’s playing up.

BladeAnnie Mon 27-Feb-23 16:59:02

Good afternoon kitchen friends. Lovely artwork again soop - you have such a talent. I've had a GP telephone appointment this morning then been to collect my new glasses. Cath Kidston spotty frames and I absolutely love them!! Mr BA has just got back from blood donors and Screwfix - he needed screws so I'm guessing he went to the right place 😂😂!! Wishing everyone a very pleasant evening. TOYA 🌷🌷

BlueSapphire Mon 27-Feb-23 17:09:03

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts on the Good Morning thread.
Here us a picture of my DH on our last holiday in Canada, happy days and memories. This was about 6 months before he died.

BlueSapphire Mon 27-Feb-23 17:20:49

And another one of DH - having lunch on the Rocky Mountaineer Train in Canada.

dustyangel Mon 27-Feb-23 17:40:27

Good heavens Grannmarie, 56 is only a year older than DD1. As you say no age at all. That poor young man. Your PP is about the age of my grandchildren and I find it hard to imagine them taking on the heavy load that is a Parish but that is just me being a granny. The thought of them losing their mother is unbearable. sad

brook2704 Mon 27-Feb-23 17:42:45

Such lovely pictures BlueSapphire and happy memories, thank you for sharing. For you 💐

dustyangel Mon 27-Feb-23 17:56:23

Lovely photographs BlueSaphire, I hope your happy memories are a comfort to you today. 💐

I hadn’t caught up with this morning’s thread yet. I still haven’t to be honest, although I usually do throughout the day.

soop I always love your doggy portraits and that view is stunning. Is your village walk a reasonably flat one?

Susan56 Mon 27-Feb-23 18:04:50

Lovely pictures BlueSapphire.Your late DH looks a kind and gentle man.💐

BlueSapphire Mon 27-Feb-23 18:14:42

Susan he really was, and I miss him so much. Although feeling sad, I am thankful and grateful that we had nearly 49 years together.

brook2704 Mon 27-Feb-23 18:17:08

That’s a beautiful view soop and the collie dog portrait too, you’re so talented
I’ve had a busy but good day today, the gym this morning followed by a lovely lunch organised at the gym for a lady who’s leaving. We all brought some food into share, I did the sandwiches which went down well and all the bakers made gorgeous tray bakes and cakes that we all enjoyed. We’ll all need to work extra hard at the gym later this week, although someone did say they were all calorie free 😇
DGS is on his way round here as he’s asked to come for a sleepover. There’s a teachers strike here tomorrow and Wednesday so there’s no school for them until Thursday. DGD has a bit of a sore throat so she’s staying home , DD works from home so there’s no real need for her to come here if not needed.
Your new glasses sound lovely BA !
Pleased you had a good day at grandma’s nursery grandmabatty

annsixty Mon 27-Feb-23 18:18:59

Greetings everyone.
Gillgran I came on to say that I had injections in my eye for some time.
I was just like your H, full of trepidation and actually fearful but after the first one he will realise that it isn’t at all bad and the staff are used to first timers and are very reassuring.
Good luck to him.

Jaxjacky Mon 27-Feb-23 18:21:59

Bittersweet pictures BlueSapphire.
Lovely dog pic soopperhaps you work better without us distracting you 🙂!
Volunteering done, slice of cake eaten, dinner is on, ready for the off, out to quiz soon, I’ll be wrapped up warm, it’s cold.
Enjoy your evening all.

Urmstongran Mon 27-Feb-23 18:33:47

‘Evening All’.

I have a few anxieties right now, so not feeling too bubbly but it’s early days and I can worry for England at the best of times. That saying ‘You can’t buy peace of mind’ is so very true. I’m up and down, my mind is skittering. I have friends and good support. So I lean on them with my fingers firmly crossed.
🤞

Urmstongran Mon 27-Feb-23 18:40:19

BlueSapphire such sweet, poignant memories. Thank you for sharing. Yes you’re sad but in so many ways you were blessed as you acknowledge. Your husband looked a sweetheart. x
He would be proud of how you cope with life.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 27-Feb-23 19:48:15

I hope tomorrow is a better day Urms. 💐

gillgran Mon 27-Feb-23 20:29:48

Happy memories, BlueSapphire, flowers

gillgran Mon 27-Feb-23 20:43:18

Thank you Blossoming for your advice on my TMJ.

annsixty, thank you for your support. The very thought of those injections are scary!
May I ask if they actually worked for you? My sister had them for several years, (monthly at Addenbrookes), sadly she has now lost the sight in that eye. We're not mentioning that in front of my H.....

Take care, all of you, especially Urmstongran, & others with extra worries just now.

brook2704 Mon 27-Feb-23 20:46:21

Hoping all is ok Urms 💐
I meant to say earlier that it was so kind of Imogen to make you the birthday cake Jax, it looks really lovely, well done to her
DGS has just gone through to bed, he’s reading for a while but promised to turn his light off soon - will see! Tomorrow he’s asked to go swimming, so it’s back to the gym again for me 🤣

Grandmabatty Mon 27-Feb-23 21:05:55

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling down Urms 💐 I'm tired after childcare. Tomorrow will be harder. Off to bed soon.

MawtheMerrier Mon 27-Feb-23 21:12:03

Good evening Kitcheners I’ve been reading your news every day but never feel I have anything of interest to contribute!
Eldest GS (12) has however just come back from the school trip of a lifetime to Lapland, Northern Finland, and well inside the Arctic Circle! I can’t wait to see his pics. What a very lucky boy.

I am happier if £500 poorer to have my car back. I had a Golf as a courtesy car and must be the only person in the country not to like it! Small and nippy but I found the ride hard and bumpy. Also it was a manual and automatics are just so much more relaxing to drive. My car is “mine” and like that feeling of sleeping in your own bed, I feel at home with my own “wheels”

I was thinking of BlueSapphire today - these anniversaries are hard, aren’t they, often bringing with them vivid memories and flashbacks of those hard days.

Disappointing weekend of rugby alas, but I thought Scotland fought back bravely against France so no shame.
Gentle hugs and wishes to all with their own health issues or family worries. You are strong, you will come through this and there are welcoming shoulders in the Kitchen whenever you need them.

cornergran Mon 27-Feb-23 21:30:55

Oh urms having that feeling of uncertain anxiety is foul. Hope your fears are unfounded. A hug on its way from me.

Fingers will be crossed for your husband gillgran. Hope all will be well.

Thank you for sharing the photos bluesapphire flowers.

You sound really buoyed up by your weekend neine.

Superb artwork soop, a real success.

Todays hospital appointment confirmed Mr C will need surgery, no date yet. Next step is seeing a surgeon. The appointment will likely be not very soon but also not a long while. hmm. Could get no better idea. In the meantime we carry on as usual much to Mr C’s delight.

Sleep well everyone.

Naughtyneine Mon 27-Feb-23 21:40:48

Urms.. your post was so not like you (or the you I've come to recognise). I hope whatever it is that's causing you anxiety goes soon. We are here to listen and help in any way we can. Xx
