Welcome dear Kitcheners. Make yourselves comfortable. There is a tasty, virtually calorie-free buffet ready and waiting.

A quick hello to everyone from warm and sunny Cape Town.
This morning we visited the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and just about to set off this afternoon to Table Mountain.
Best wishes to all, will read later

How beautiful BlueSapphire. I've just picked up my new specs and prescription sunglasses. I can see the dirt more clearly 😱

soop Sat 11-Mar-23 15:21:27

annsixty I am delighted to hear that you are enjoying treats together with your friend. Having such outings is good for the soul. Enjoy!

Jax Your daughter's op will set her on the path to full use of her hand once it is healed. I'm very pleased that she was treated so swiftly.

Yia Happy new-home-hunting. Somewhere "manageable" is my ideal.

brook for a brief moment, I thought that the sculpture was a real whale. It is stunning.

Naughtyneine I have said it before...write a book of your personal cautionary tales. It would make the best-seller list.

I am pleased that you have called into the kitchen, Catterygirl.

BlueSapphire Your photographs are stunning.

Grandmabatty Let the dust lie. It's not doing any real harm. I speak from experience. wink

MrSoop arrived home from A&E with huge dressings across his scalp. His clothing was soaked with blood. His hair matted with dried blood. The clothing soaked in the bath overnight. This morning, the water was crimson. A blood vessel has also burst around his eye. He appears to have a proper bruiser. The floors, being wood, were easy enough to mop clean. The blood had smeared on the lower kitchen units. Almost an entire roll of paper towel was soaked in blood. It was very scary. When he came to the computer and said..."I'm in trouble. Please call for an ambulance..." I almost fell off my chair. Dearie me!

Thank you for your kind words. I did share your messages with him.

We've had a mere dusting of snow. Family in England have had enough for sledging and the building of snowmen.

Great grandchildren photos received today...

Blossoming Sat 11-Mar-23 15:47:29

Good afternoon, just popped in to check for news of MrSoopand there you are Soop. I’m glad he’s home but it does sound terrifying. I hope things settle down now. Beautiful photos of the children.

Beautiful holiday photos also Brook and BlueSapphire, I’d love to see those botanical gardens.

It’s bitterly cold here, I’ve been doing bathrooms and washing towels and now having a rest with my heatpad against my back.

Ali23 Sat 11-Mar-23 16:03:38

Oh my word, Soop, that sounds so traumatic! There’s nothing like the blood that pours from face and head is there? Always shocking and scary.
I’m so glad that Mr Soop has returned safe and sound. Sending you both a 🤗

brook2704 Sat 11-Mar-23 19:36:04

Oh my goodness poor MrSoop I hope he’s recovering ok poor man. Soop, it must have been so scary for you too, I hope the beautiful pictures of your great grandchildren cheered you up a bit
It’s been a beautiful sunny day here and about 23º, we had a bus trip along the coast to Cabo de Palos, a little fishing village and sat in the sunshine enjoying coffee and cake. It’s our last evening here so we’ve been out paseando like the locals, it’s just starting to get busy outside but we’re ready for bed 🤣
Stunning photos BlueSapphire keep them coming!
Keep warm and cosy Blossoming and all kitcheners, take care all x

Oh dear soop what a scare for you both.

Stunning photos BlueSaphire enjoy

JaxJacky here’s hoping it’s onwards and upwards for your DD

Urmstongran seeing the words class bear gives me palpitations 🤣 our children all at sometime brought one home and at their school it was tantamount to a competitive bear off between certain parents., to photo the bear in the best location. Then I lost one of the GC’s class bears in our playroom and had a panic attack, it was eventually found at the bottom of a toy box, the following day it got soaked in the garden…

cornergran Sat 11-Mar-23 20:07:37

Relieved mr soop is home now soop. Don’t we worry about these men of ours?

peli Sat 11-Mar-23 20:08:02

Soop: How horrifying that sounds, & what a shock for you! I hope all stays calm w/ Mr. Soop & he heals quickly!
Those are v happy little ggc in the snow, they must give u a lot of smiles!

Urms: I remember the days of the class bear visiting!🐻 What happy adventures did L'il Miss share w/ him so far?

BlueSapphire: Thx for sharing yr photos, it sounds like an amazing holiday, & well-deseved for u!

Blossoming: I share yr fondness for rhubarb & custard sweeties!

Neine: Yr cautionary tale was a real treat to read, lol!!

Nannytopsy: That Fri nite schedule sounds crazy busy! No wonder a 🍸Manhattan was needed afterwards!

Today I started my seeds in their little pot homes, & I actually made enuff labels for all, so no mystery shoots... (which usually is a tradition for me!)
Now to start making the bulb labels...

Jaxjacky Sat 11-Mar-23 21:40:50

Baggs Sun 12-Mar-23 11:57:04

Hope MrSoop is still on the mend and there has been no more blood to deal with.

We are in shock this morning. We got a message from Minibaggs that she had just found one of her student housemates dead. The poor parents. Unbearable news. Hope all the other housemates get the support they need.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 12-Mar-23 12:31:22

How dreadful Baggs , that poor family 💐

I hope minibaggs’s university has good with pastoral care

Susan56 Sun 12-Mar-23 12:40:35

Oh Baggs how awful. So sad for the family and friends but so traumatic for Minibaggs.

annsixty Sun 12-Mar-23 13:01:37

How sad that is for everyone.
I hope your D gets the support she needs and that the family get help and support through this dreadful time for them.
It will be on my mind all day and I will pray for them all .

Blossoming Sun 12-Mar-23 13:29:34

What a shock Baggs, poor Minibaggs must be traumatised and how awful for the family and friends.

kittylester Sun 12-Mar-23 13:44:02

Oh goodness, baggs. How is minibaggs? So sad for the family of the person who died but so shocking for her.

The Class Bear stories made me smile and reminded me of the time DH took DGD1 to a Ladybird Book exhibition at the Town library where Bear was photographed in front of or in amongst lots of exhibitions. They went shopping afterwards and then realised that Bear was missing. By the time they got back to the library, it was shut.

Guess who was at the library at 9am the next morning?

Worse was the friend who had the class hamster which died! She spent all weekend sourcing a similar looking one, only to be told when she owned up, that they had been waiting for it to die as having one was too much of a responsibility.

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Mar-23 13:45:26

Baggs how sad and how awful for your daughter.

dragonfly46 Sun 12-Mar-23 13:50:09

Baggs what a shock - I am so sorry for your DD and her housemate's family.

cornergran Sun 12-Mar-23 14:00:47

How dreadful for everyone baggs. Such a shock. Thinking of them all. X

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 12-Mar-23 15:36:54

Such a shock Baggs. When I worked in Oxford, the College Secretary and I each had a sheet ready to read out to the media in case of the death of a student. Fortunately such a thing didn’t happen in my college but other colleges certainly had their share of student deaths due to all kinds of reasons,

SueDonim Sun 12-Mar-23 15:49:18

Oh Baggs what a terrible thing to have happened. sad I am so sorry for everyone involved. flowers
