Welcome dear Kitcheners. Make yourselves comfortable. There is a tasty, virtually calorie-free buffet ready and waiting.

Thank you, Soopand YiaYia🥰.

A stay at home day for me, unusual but restful. In between reading/dozing, I organised the birthday presents and cards for DGS2, DSs 2 and 3 ( who share a birthday), DDIL2, my dear friend and her daughter, who all have February birthdays!! Then I did some ironing, watching A Place in the Sun, my favourite ' ironing programme '!! DH and I would like to visit Santorini this year, fingers crossed. 🤞

Sorry to hear of more worrying news, Soop, hoping and praying that the lady gets the care she needs and recovers soon.

Good news from your dermatologist, Lll, you'll be mightily relieved!

TOYA.

Thank you, SueD, crossed posts!
I hope the doctors can find a more suitable drug for your DS very soon.

Well, I never even got dressed today. I lay awake all night, with a really nagging ache in my lower back and left thigh, fell asleep for about 30 minutes around 7am, then got another half hour before having to get up, but have felt sluggish all day. Not getting dressed is not something I go in for, Lynne`s carers must have thought me a right lazy so and so!

Hellogirl, you have been through so much recently, your whole system- mind, body and spirit - is suffering. You are well entitled to a pyjama day, it'll do you good. Be gentle with yourself, get lots of rest, nourishing foods, fresh air when you can... you need time to heal.
I hope you have a better sleep tonight. NNGB🙏💐

Hello dear Kitcheners. Our dear friend's mother died yesterday afternoon. Our friend and her lovely husband, both of whom had cared for her for some time, were with her. We have known "Mother" ever since we moved to Scotland. She was a character. She was in respite in order that her "private space" could be redecorated. It was ready for her hoped-for homecoming tomorrow.

Many of you lovely lot have problems and sorrows to deal with right now. I do not wish to make anyone feel more depressed.

An enormous gale is blowing. The waves are crashing on the shore. I'm about to "slum it" for the rest of the afternoon. I do send each of you a virtual, gentle hug.

Naughtyneine Tue 31-Jan-23 12:56:47

Oh bless her Soop, Thank God she didn't suffer for too long and is now at peace. I will keep your friend and her family and you in my thoughts and prayers.

Naughtyneine Tue 31-Jan-23 12:59:56

Beautiful snowdrops .Just to cheer everyone up a little and show Spring is on its way...and with it I hope happier times for you lovely ladies who have had such sadness and trials this Winter.

Grannmarie Tue 31-Jan-23 15:08:17

So sorry to hear that, Soop, its a blessing that yoyr friends were with ' Mother' at the end.
🙏💐

Grandmabatty Tue 31-Jan-23 15:21:03

I am sorry to hear that Soop but a quiet, peaceful end having said goodbye to family is the best anyone can hope for. I think it was the late queen who said, "grief is the price we pay for love." 💐
No walk of shame today. Dgs1 was perfection personified. Dgs2 has been a little ray of happiness today and I have enjoyed today. I hope you are enjoying your day.

gillgran Tue 31-Jan-23 15:49:51

Sorry to hear about your friends Mother, soop.
May I echo what Grandmabatty said in her first paragraph (at 15:21).

Love the photo of snowdrops, Naughtyneine, I was lamenting the lack of any out in our garden just the other day. So I was delighted to see the very first ones peeping through at the weekend. (that's slightly late for us in N.,Cambs.,).

Warm thoughts for all in this friendly kitchen.

More sad news. I’m sorry to hear about the death of your friend’s mother, Soop. 🌻
Well, today I took more things to a charity shop, popped into Waitrose, bought a second iPhone charger and had my iPad battery looked at - there’s nothing wrong with it. I’ve just this minute booked a week’s holiday in a cottage in North Wales for the first week of July. Enjoy the evening.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Changeable weather here today, now blowing a hoolie and going dark. Glad you had a good day with the little ones GrandmaB. Lovely pic Neine thank you. I was going to check out our snowdrops but it started to rain heavily so I chickened out!

Soop sorry you’ve had more sad news flowers

Yiayia4 Tue 31-Jan-23 17:25:02

Sorry to hear your sad news Soop. 💐

GrannyGravy13 Tue 31-Jan-23 17:30:57

We had the 7yr old (DD’s eldest) here today as he and six others in his class have some sort of headache virus.

We have him tomorrow as his school is closed due to teachers strikes, the teenagers are negotiating with their dad (DS) as to whether they can stay at home alone or go into the office with him.

Along with there being little or no trains running our village will be buzzy tomorrow, will book a table for lunch at our favourite coffee shop to be sure of getting one,

Sad news soop (((hugs))) to you and any kitchen friends in need 🌸🌸🌸

brook2704 Tue 31-Jan-23 17:37:15

So sorry to hear that sad news soop sending condolences to your friend and her family 💐

Hellogirl1 Tue 31-Jan-23 17:45:22

So sorry to hear about your friend`s mother Soop, life is so sad for so many people.
I had a teeny bit more sleep last night, but not much, my back and leg still playing up. Hope I`m right for our Strictly trip to London at the weekend.

SueDonim Tue 31-Jan-23 17:59:49

That is very sad news, Soop though it sounds a peaceful end for the lady. flowers

Grandmabatty how is your dd now?

Ds has seen the specialist today and it seems his reaction was a very rare side effect of the chemo infusion. His dr hasn’t see a case for five years. There’s a new plan in place to try and prevent it happening again, so we’ll all hope for the best next time.

My poor daughter with HFM and strep throat now has Covid as well! 🦠 You couldn’t make it up. The baby also has conjunctivitis to go along with his HFM. I took along a few bits along for them today - threw them in the front door and ran away! Luckily the penicillin has helped her throat enormously.

Otherwise it’s been a quiet day, neither of us slept well last night so an early night for us, I think. Though the wind is getting wild and as it’s bin day first thing tomorrow it could be a noisy night! 😂

Will keep my fingers crossed for your son SueD x

Susan56 Tue 31-Jan-23 18:40:35

Hope the new plan of treatment works for your son SueD.

So sorry to hear your sad news soop💐

Glad you all had a good day Grandmabatty.

SueD my grandson and daughter had Strep at Christmas.DD had covid as well. She had more antibiotics last week, nearly a month after the first course. The dr said that one course is quite often not enough so if your DD is still not right after the antibiotics suggest that she asks for another course.
Little B our grandson had a second course too, the first course being before he was admitted to hospital at Christmas. It really is an awful infection.I hope they are all feeling better soon🤞🏻

‘Evening All’

Cosy here. Gammon roasting in the oven with the baked potatoes. Cabbage to cook on the hob in a minute. Smells delish. Wine poured.

Then Himself plans to watch Southampton -v- Newcastle. So many matches to fit in due to the backlog from Qatar WC in the UK winter. Stupid decision (with backhanders) in his opinion.

I want to watch a film on Netflix ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’. Set in WWI, from a 17y old German boy’s perspective and experience. I shall have a box of tissues to hand.

Oh SueDonim what were the odds? Your poor boy. Let’s all hope for better news soon. And glad you’ve had a good day today Grandmabatty your love for those little boys shines through!

Grandmabatty Tue 31-Jan-23 20:17:10

Suedonim how unfortunate for your poor son. Hopefully he'll get better now. My dd seems ok thanks. Her ear is still sore but no return of gallbladder pain. Fingers crossed. * Hellogirl* I hope you feel better soon too.
Dgs2 called me Gaga today and touched my arm. Apparently at home he's been saying gaga and pointing to the door. Urms I do love them very much. It's a gift to have them in my life and I'm very fortunate. Thinking of you all tonight.

Urmstongran Tue 31-Jan-23 20:21:13

🥰 Grandmabatty.

Blossoming Tue 31-Jan-23 20:37:17

How lovely Grandmabatty, I always think my family are my treasure and the little ones are so precious.

brook2704 Tue 31-Jan-23 21:34:06

Oh my SueD that’s far too much to cope with in your poorly family, I hope things improve a lot soon 💐
I’ve had such a lazy day so nothing to report! The weather has been wild and windy, even a light snow shower this morning but it didn’t linger. I’ve not been out into the garden but I’ve had the tape measure out and been shifting furniture around in the lounge to measure up for a new corner sofa. I just need to decide on the colour now ….
Awww grandmabatty so pleased you’ve had a good day in grandma’s nursery 😇😇

brook2704 Tue 31-Jan-23 21:34:48

So very true blossoming 💐
