My hearing aids, and since last year I have ones that connect to Bluetooth on my phone. Game changer, as phone conversations go straight to my hearing aids!

Family, then an inside toilet and bath. Until I was 3 we had to cross the back lane to our toilet and use a potty at night and a tin bath. I can still remember the bliss of an inside toilet. Relations used to come and use our bath. In exchange we got soap and towels they bought cheap at the mines. My gran lived in the country and her toilet was up the garden and full of spiders.smile

A heated throw is pretty damn good, saves having the central heating on all evening.

An electric blanket is cosy at bedtime, and the washing machine.

You beat me to it Urmstongran definitely my husband first and family second.
Far more important than any material possessions.

That’s not what the post was about though, as surely we would all put our families first, rather than comparing them to sliced bread?

Slow cooker, a present from my daughter. I've had it a few years now and have used it so much.

I could add my hoover. When we were first married we didn't have any of these appliances. We couldn't even afford a fridge. In order to have heat or hot water when I got home from work I had to get the coal in and light the fire.

I appreciate all the gadgets I have which make my life easier.

My robot mower, washing machine and dishwasher!

Curlywhirly Tue 31-Jan-23 13:09:10

For me it's the automatic washing machine! When we were 1st married we were given our MIL's old single tub washer which had a mangle. Trying to get DH's thick rugby jerseys through the mangle was a nightmare. As soon as we could afford it we bought an automatic machine (which had only just become popular). What a relief!
