So many wonderful songs, but my favourite has to be "Any Day Now".

I am watching a lovely programme now on BBC 2 called Burt Bacharach: A life in Song. It’s from the Royal Festival Hall . Justin Hayward has just been on and Alfie Boe and others are yet to come.

Chestnut

Lollin

Too difficult to single out one or a few as my favourite, so I decided to try and think of any I was not particularly keen on, but nope that’s impossible as well.

I've got one! It must be the only one though. I adored them all as much as anyone else, but I never liked the words for Wishin' and Hopin' and they're not very good advice for a young teenage girl which I was at the time.

Show him that you care just for him
Do the things he likes to do
Wear your hair just for him, 'cause
You won't get him
Thinkin' and a-prayin', wishin' and a-hopin'
'Cause wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin'
Plannin' and dreamin' his kisses will start
That won't get you into his heart
So if you're thinkin' of how great true love is
All you gotta do is hold him, and kiss him and squeeze him and love him
Yeah, just do it
And after you do, you will be his

Don't forget that it was Hal David who was the lyricist.
Burt Bacharach was the composer.

Hal David was born in 1921.

Did any teenagers of 1963 take any real notice of the words?

Just noticed that Sophie Ellis Bextor was pregnant at the time of this recording. She looks lovely, and she has such a distinctive voice. She's singing Close to You just now, a beautiful song I'll always associate with the late great Karen Carpenter.

We're recording it, something to look forward to by the sounds of it!

This Guy's in Love with You is one of my favourite songs.

Weren’t we lucky to have grown up with this fabulous music compared with what is around these days?

Yes, definitely.

So many of the genres have stood the test of time, unlike some of the very unmemorable stuff which is churned out today.

I love many of his songs but my favourite is Alfie.
